It also softens the feel of your mattress and helps extend its lifespan, ensuring you sleep cosily for longer. Similarly, the timber frame is designed to reinforce the edges of the divan, eliminating roll-off and preventing long-term sag at the sides. The Shallow Divan with Wilhelm Headboard is compatible with all Winston’s mattresses.

- Made using timber from sustainable forests
- Pocket Spring top with individually-mounted springs
- Classic, piped finish with no visible staples
- Customisable colours, fabrics and bed legs
- Handmade in the United Kingdom

Customisable Colours and Materials
Make the Shallow Divan your own and ensure it complements your home décor by customising the upholstery and choosing from a selection of six styles of bed leg. Our designs are available in more than 50 colours and several different materials, including linen, cotton and velvet, enabling you to build a divan that represents your ideal aesthetic.
Two-Part Divan with Split Cover
All of our divans benefit from a two-part design. On divans that are less than 160cm in length the split runs across the width of the bed. With longer divans, the split runs from head to toe. The two-part structure allows you to move and transport the divan with far greater ease, making it an excellent option if you can’t fit a traditional frame due to access issues.
Luxurious, Buttoned Wilhelm Headboard
Featuring four rows of offset buttons and a comfortable, padded finish, the stylish Wilhelm Headboard is a perfect choice if you appreciate traditional style and the luxurious look. The headboard is fitted via standard UK fixtures.

Headboard Sizes Chart and Dimensions Guide
Headboards serve an aesthetic and functional purpose: they provide back support when you are sitting up in bed and they can help complete the look of your bedroom. Headboards are included with some, but not all bed frames. When buying a headboard, consider your mattress size and the available space in your bedroom.
In our guide, we explain how to choose a headboard by looking at headboard dimensions. We’ll also go over the different types of headboards available today.
Headboard Widths
Typically, headboards are as wide as their compatible mattress sizes or around 2 to 4 inches wider. You may need 2 inches of space on either side of the bed to fit a headboard. When buying a new headboard, factor in this extra space so you can buy your other furniture accordingly and avoid overcrowding your room.
Since headboard sizes align with standard mattress sizes, in this table, we provide the approximate headboard widths with their compatible mattress dimensions and the recommended room sizes.
Bed Size | Headboard Widths | Mattress Dimensions | Recommended Room Size (IN) | Recommended Room Size (CM) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Twin | 41 inches | 38 inches by 74 inches | 7 feet by 10 feet | 213.36 cm by 304.8 cm |
Full | 56 inches | 54 inches by 75 inches | 10 feet by 10 feet | 304.8 cm by 304.8 cm |
Queen | 62 inches | 60 inches by 80 inches | 10 feet by 10 feet | 304.8 cm by 304.8 cm |
King | 80 inches | 76 inches by 80 inches | 12 feet by 12 feet | 365. 76 cm by 365.76 cm |
California king | 74 inches | 72 inches by 84 inches | 12 feet by 12 feet | 365.76 cm by 365.76 cm |
A standard queen headboard will suit a queen bed frame in a 10 by 10 foot room, but the same room may look overcrowded if you choose an extra-wide headboard. Extra-wide headboards may be 25 to 30 inches wider than the bed, often extending beyond the bedside tables. This makes a bold statement in large rooms, but in small rooms, the extra width clutters the space.
Most extra-wide headboards are wall-mounted, meaning they are attached to the wall and not the bed frame. The bed frames are just placed against the headboard, so you don’t have to worry about size compatibility. For example, an extra-wide wall mounted headboard may work with a queen as well as a king size bed. Frame-mounted headboards have to be size compatible because the mounting holes on either side must line up for them to be attached.
Headboard Heights
The effective height of a headboard is what you see above the mattress and not the overall height from the floor. There are no specific standards for headboard heights, though the general rule is to ensure the headboard is shorter than the length of your bed. Most twin, full, queen, king, and Cal king headboards are designed with this in mind.
Generally, twin headboards are 14 inches above the top of the mattress, while full and queen headboards are 28 inches, and king and Cal king headboards are 58 inches.
Tall Headboards
Tall headboards are commonly used with king or California king mattresses. They look best in rooms with high ceilings because they fill the vertical space. A tall headboard also keeps your head from leaning against the wall when you are sitting up in bed. Tall headboards may be 65 to 70 inches tall, covering almost the entire length of the wall.
Short or Low Headboards
Short or low headboards can make your room look spacious. They are often used with smaller beds in guest rooms. A low headboard for a twin size mattress can be 10 to 12 inches above the top of the mattress. They are a perfect option when you want to hang a painting, photo, or wall decor above your bed.
Adjustable Headboards
Adjustable headboards usually include metallic legs that can be moved up or down to adjust the height. They are an excellent option when you are unsure which height is most suitable for your room.
If you have a big bed in a small room, adjust the headboard height to a shorter level so the room appears spacious. Adjustable headboards also come in handy if you change your mattress to a thicker or thinner one. That way, you don’t have to buy a new headboard to fit your new mattress.
Different Types of Headboards
The thickness of your headboard depends on the type. Fancy headboards with shelves and drawers are thicker than the plain wooden or metal headboards. These simple headboards may be 2 to 3 inches thick, while headboards with built-in storage can be 7 to 10 inches thick.
When it comes to headboard type, you’ll also have to think about the materials and if they mesh with your other bedroom decor.
Wood Headboard
Wood is one of the most popular furniture building materials. People prefer wooden headboards because they suit both classic and contemporary decor. Wooden headboards can be made up of one solid wooden panel, 3 to 4 panels joined together, or plain wooden spindles.
Pine, oak, and maple are some of the common types of wood used to make headboards. Plywood is a comparatively budget-friendly option, but it’s not as durable as pine, oak, or maple.
Wooden headboards flaunt a natural wood finish, or they are painted in earthen shades like brown, black, or grey.
Wood headboards are common with platform, sleigh, four-poster, and bunk beds as well. Families with more than one child prefer bunk beds because they optimize space, increasing play areas for children.
Four-poster and sleigh beds are often found in queen or king sizes because these regal styles are suitable for large rooms. The outward curve of the headboard in a sleigh needs more space, while the posters on all four corners of a bed can crowd your room. Platform beds don’t take up as much space and are suitable for all room sizes.
Metal Headboard
Metal headboards can offer a modern, industrial, minimalist, or a vintage look, depending on their design. They are an affordable option compared to pine, oak, or maple wood. Metal headboards can be made of wrought iron, brass, brushed aluminum, or stainless steel. They are found in various colors such as silver, nickel, gold, black, brown, and white.
Metal headboards are common with platform and bunk beds, in all standard sizes. Sometimes, they are also used with four-poster bed frames.
Upholstered Headboard
Upholstered headboards are the most comfortable because the soft padding provides a plush backrest when you are sitting up in bed. They are also a good option for active sleepers, protecting them from getting hurt even if they bump their head on the headboard.
The padding in upholstered headboards can include cotton, linen, leather, or polyester. The price of the headboard depends on the quality of materials used in the padding. They are available in a wide variety of colors, making them popular even in kids’ bedrooms.
An upholstered headboard may be solid-colored, printed, or tufted. Upholstered headboards can be used with any type of bed frame, and are usually thicker than simple wood or metal headboards.
Storage Headboard
Storage headboards are usually made of wood, providing you enough space to keep your books, alarm clock, or other bedroom essentials in them. They are commonly used with platform and bunk beds. Storage headboards are the thickest of all types, so you need a large bedroom to accommodate them.
FAQs
What size should a headboard be?
The headboard size should be compatible with your mattress size for the perfect fit. Most twin, full, queen, king, and Cal king headboards are as wide as their compatible mattresses or 2 to 4 inches wider. The standard height varies between 14 to 58 inches, depending on the size of the bed. For example, a twin headboard can be 41 inches wide and 14 inches tall, while a king headboard can be 80 inches wide and 58 inches tall. A headboard can be 2-10 inches thick.
What are the dimensions of a queen size headboard?
Queen headboards range from 60 to 64 inches wide by 28 to 48 inches tall. The thickness depends on your preference for the type of headboard. Simple headboards are 2 to 4 inches thick, while headboards with storage are 7 to 10 inches thick. Choose one depending on the space in your room and your stylistic preferences.
What is the best height for a headboard?
There is no best height for a headboard, but the general rule is to keep them shorter than the length of the bed. Taller headboards often look good in large rooms with high ceilings, while shorter headboards can make a small room look more spacious. Generally, the standard height of a twin headboard is 14 inches, full and the queen is 28 inches, and a king is 58 inches.
Can a full size headboard fit a queen?
A full mattress is 6 inches narrower than a queen mattress so a full size headboard will not fit a queen size bed frame. The mounting holes on a full headboard will not line up with those on the queen bed frame, which is necessary to join them together. Typically full headboards are 56 inches, while queen headboards are 62 inches wide.
How do you fix a gap between a mattress and a headboard?
To fix the gap between a mattress and a headboard, use an upholstered headboard, as the thick padding helps to cover the gap. If the gap is more than 1.5 inches, use mattress wedges as a filler. These triangular foam products extend along the entire width of the mattress, filling the gap between the bed and the headboard. You will find mattress wedges in most home improvement and online stores.
Conclusion
Headboards were originally designed to serve as an added layer of insulation; they protected sleepers from feeling cold when the bed was placed against the wall which radiated the chill of the outside environment. In modern-day homes, these headboards serve more of an aesthetic purpose. They can redefine the look of your bedroom, making it classy, elegant, vintage, or contemporary.
If you want to revamp your bedroom, consider changing the headboard for a brand new look. Headboards can serve a functional purpose as well, like protecting you from bumping your head or providing extra storage space.
Headboard Size Chart + Dimensions: Your Complete Guide
A headboard protects your wall, supports your head, and keeps your pillows from falling. Plus, it adds an aesthetic touch to bring your bedroom together. But before you fall in love with the perfectly styled headboard, make sure you’re looking for the right size.
Sometimes headboards are included when you buy a bed frame, but not always. So if you’re buying one separately, how do you choose one that’s sure to fit your mattress size?
In this guide to all things headboards, we’ll help you find the right one for you. To get started, “head” over to the headboard sizes chart below.

Headboard Widths
It’s important to make sure you pick the right headboard width so that your headboard properly attaches to your bed frame. It’s also important to think about your room size and the space occupied by nightstands, dressers, and other furniture. Read through the specific widths for each bed size below.
Twin Headboard Dimensions
The standard size of a headboard for a twin mattress is around 41 in or 104 cm wide. Since a twin and twin XL are the same widths, a twin headboard should fit both. A twin headboard is often shorter to save space and not look too big compared to the twin bed.
- Width: 41 in or 104 cm
- Suggested room size: 7 x 10 ft or 2.13 x 3.05 m
Full Size Headboard Dimensions
For a full size mattress, the width of a headboard should be around 56 in or 142 cm. Full size headboards are also often shorter to complement the look of the full size bed and not overwhelm the room.
- Width: 56 in or 142 cm
- Suggested room size: 10 x 10 ft or 3.05 x 3.05 m
Queen Size Headboard Dimensions
A headboard should have a width of around 62 in or 157 cm to fit a queen mattress. A full size mattress can also fit a queen headboard—you’ll just have six extra inches of headboard, which isn’t that noticeable once sheets and pillows are added.
- Width: 62 in or 157 cm
- Suggested room size: 10 x 10 ft or 3.05 x 3.05 m
King Size Headboard Dimensions
To fit a king size mattress, a headboard should have a width of 80 in or 203 cm. You’ll want to make sure you have a room with adequate square footage, at least 12 by 12 ft or 3.65 by 3.65 m, to make room for your king size headboard plus nightstands.
- Width: 80 in or 203 cm
- Suggested room size: 12 x 12 ft or 3.65 x 3.65 m
California King Size Headboard Dimensions
A headboard will fit a California king bed if it is around 74 in or 188 cm wide. This is one of the largest headboard sizes, so you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of wall space to accommodate it. If you want something even bigger, you can seek out an extra-wide headboard that covers nearly the full length of the wall.
- Width: 74 in or 188 cm
- Suggested room size: 12 x 12 ft or 3. 65 x 3.65 m
Headboard Heights
Next up is headboard heights. Standard headboards are 14 inches off the top of the mattress for twin beds, 28 inches for queen beds, and 58 inches for king and California king beds. However, there are short, tall, and adjustable headboards that fall outside of this range.
Here’s a quick summary of the standard headboard height for each bed size:
- Twin: 14 inches or 36 cm
- Full: 28 inches or 71 cm
- Queen: 28 inches or 71 cm
- King: 58 inches or 147 cm
Next, we’ll go through short, tall, and adjustable headboards.
Short Headboards
A short headboard is around 10 to 12 inches above the top of the bed. They’re usually paired with twin, twin XL, and full beds in childrens’ rooms and guest bedrooms. Since they don’t take up a lot of wall space, short headboards can make a small room look more spacious.
Tall Headboards
Tall headboards rise 65 to 70 inches above the top of the bed, covering a large portion of the wall. They are often used with California king, king, and queen beds. Tall headboards support your head completely when you sit up in bed. They look best in large rooms with tall ceilings.
Adjustable Headboards
Adjustable headboards are the perfect option if you’re a little indecisive about the height you want. They have adjustable legs that attach to your bed frame and let you choose your own ideal headboard height.
When using an adjustable headboard, you should keep the headboard height shorter than the length of the bed to ensure that your bed looks balanced and isn’t too top-heavy.
Types of Headboards
The dimensions aren’t the only things to consider when shopping for a headboard. Different materials will drastically change the look of a headboard. The thickness will also vary by material:
- Upholstered: minimum of two inches thick
- Wood: approximately two to four inches thick
- Metal: approximately two to four inches thick
- Storage: can be up to 10 inches thick
Here’s a quick overview of all the different types.
Upholstered
Upholstered headboards are covered in a material such as fabric, leather, velvet, or suede over a soft layer of padding. The padding makes these headboards extra plush and a little thicker than other headboards. They come in endless colors and patterns, sometimes including details like buttons and welding.
Looking for a cloud-like headboard to soften your snooze? The Casper Haven® Bed Frame is wrapped in premium Felted Wool and includes a comfortably slanted headboard for an elevated, cloud-like look that’s soft to the touch.

Wood
Wood headboards come in many colors and finishes and are perfect for a traditional or modern room. Wood is a popular choice that can create a timeless or rustic look.
Choose a natural finish in pine, oak, or maple, or pick a painted wood headboard to match your accent colors. Platform beds, sleigh beds, and four-poster beds all commonly come with wood headboards.
Can’t decide between an upholstered or wood bed? Get the best of both worlds with the Casper Repose® Bed Frame, made of sustainably sourced oak with softened edges to give your bedroom a warm look. You can choose between a wood or pillow headboard to give your room just the right upgrade.
Shop Casper Repose® Bed Frame
Metal
Metal headboards look sleek and come in materials including wrought iron, brass, and stainless steel. They can be more affordable than some higher-quality wood or upholstered headboards.
Metal headboards come in various colors and are common with platform beds, bunk beds, and four-poster beds. A metal headboard can create an industrial look and will fit right in with minimalist interior decor.
Storage
Storage headboards, which include built-in drawers or shelves, can provide great space for books, lamps, and knickknacks. They are sometimes attached to bunk beds or platform bed frames. Storage headboards take up the most space out of all headboard types, so it’s best to place them in a spacious room.
FAQs
Now that we’ve covered headboard types and sizes, we’ll answer some commonly asked questions about headboards below.
Should a Headboard Be Wider Than the Bed?
A standard headboard can be zero to three inches wider than the bed. However, there are also extra-wide headboards that are longer to extend past the nightstands.
How Are Headboards Measured?
Headboard width is measured straight across, while headboard height is measured from the top of the mattress upward.
Is It Necessary to Use a Headboard?
It is not necessary to have a headboard on your bed. In fact, some people choose not to forgo buying one in order to save space. However, when deciding if you need a headboard, consider that this addition to your bed can complete the look of your bedroom, support your neck and back, and protect the wall behind your bed.
Can You Use a Headboard Without a Bed Frame?
Yes. There are special, free-standing headboards that are designed to rest between the bed and the wall. There are also headboards that you can mount to the wall behind your bed instead of attaching them to the bed frame.
How Do You Fix a Gap Between the Mattress and the Headboard?
If you notice a gap between your mattress and headboard, try the following fixes:
-Get an upholstered headboard, which may be thicker and more padded.
-Readjust your mattress and bed frame’s connection to the headboard.
-Use foam mattress wedges, found at most home improvement stores, to fill a gap that is 1.5 inches or larger.
What Is the Average Price of a Headboard?
Because they come in such varied styles, materials, and sizes, headboard costs tend to range from $150 to upwards of $1,000. There are lots of affordable options out there, but it all depends on the complexity of the design and cost of materials. Luxury and custom headboards that include lighting features, for example, will be far pricier.
Picking a headboard that fits your bed size will save you time and money in the long run. Your new headboard should also enhance your bedroom decor and make bedtime all the more cozy.
At Casper, we have multiple bed frames with attached headboards for the ultimate combination of style and comfort. For an easy fit, the Casper Platform Bed is a clean, modern bed frame for stylish support. Our matching headboard attaches to the Casper Platform bed frame for a complete look.

A great quality step-up from IKEA
While I am still looking for a bracket to fit my particular rising frame: the quality for the price was very hard to beat. The color is slightly brighter on the grayscale-side but works with non-earthtones very well. For the price when compared to budget models elsewhere this stood out GREATLY with its quality feel and weight behind it. Being told this is a step-up in quality from IKEA but not quite to the bank-breaking measure is just right for me. I as worried about spending more than 500 on a headboard and feared what the 100-range would offer. Just feeling this combined with its weight, and then seeing the weight on the budget options of the world — I made the right call. Photos are pretty accurate for color on the website too.

What can be a wardrobe at the head of the bed, pros and cons
Traditionally, the headboard (head back) of the bed plays the role of a kind of pillow stop, and also protects the wallpaper, wall covering from abrasion, and has a decorative function. However, in the modern approach to furniture, they try to make every corner of the bedroom functional. And built-in shelves, a wardrobe at the head of the bed often become thus a necessary addition to the design of the bed, which provides maximum comfort to the owners of the bedroom.
Variants and types of headboard cabinets
Headboard cabinets can be designed differently according to their location. According to the design features, three possible options can be distinguished:
- In the headboard . At the same time, the wardrobe built into the headboard can be an element of the backrest-transformer, which allows you to change the angle of inclination for greater comfort when sitting. Also, a more voluminous shape of the back allows you to install additional shelves, lamps, movable soft pillows and other useful elements on it.
- Above the headboard. Often the small size of the bedroom leaves no choice – and you have to use the area above the headboard for wall cabinets. It is important to responsibly approach the hanging of cabinets on the wall, correctly plan their design and dimensions.
- Combined version . Strictly speaking, the headboard can be not only part of the bed, but also represent a kind of unifying structure. Variants, when the headboard “flows” into bedside tables, pencil cases along the edges of the bed, mezzanines and other furniture, help to visually unite the entire decor of the room into a single whole.
At the same time, all bed variants with a built-in wardrobe at the head of the bed have only two drawbacks:
- Any technological additions always lead to higher furniture prices. Therefore, you should be prepared for a significant increase in the budget when choosing a bed with an improved headboard.
- The wide headboard of the bed “pushes” the bed forward and prevents the whole structure from being pushed close to the wall. And this means that the bedroom should be wide enough, at least 3.5-4m along the length of the bed.
However, the advantages of multifunctional headboards are much greater! At a minimum, an additional shelf and spectacular lighting can be built into it.
Clever equipment options turn the bed into a relaxing center. Thanks to them, you can not only lie on the bed, but also sit comfortably, read, use a laptop and even eat.
Additional shelves and storage space make it possible to arrange everything you need for a fruitful holiday at hand. Or maybe not rest? Work, reclining on the bed is much more comfortable!
Built-in wardrobe at the head of the bed: maximum convenience and new possibilities
It just seems that before going to bed and resting we do not need anything – just lie down, cover yourself with a blanket and close your eyes. In fact, in the immediate vicinity of the bed, a lot of things are often required: a telephone, glasses, books, an alarm clock, a glass of water, a small lamp, etc. Traditionally, all this was laid out on a bedside table. However, there are other options if for some reason you don’t want to put a bedside table, table or chest of drawers next to the bed.
The headboard itself can be a clever modular design that can be integrated into anything.
The model of the bed, in which a niche was designed at the headboard, can be considered the progenitor of built-in wardrobes at the head of the bed. Back in the 80s of the last century, the owners of such beds appreciated how convenient it is to put a book, glasses on a niche shelf, set an alarm clock – and these items will be at hand and will not fall anywhere from their place, as, say, in case of accidental touching hand on the bedside table.
Today, the idea of open niches has received a lot of improvements. Often the shelves in it are of a multi-tiered structure, and are also closed with sliding and folding panels.
Wide headboards with built-in wardrobes are also complemented by pull-out shelves and serving tables, various containers in which it is convenient to store what should be hidden from prying eyes.
Also, the headboard elements can be mobile – they can adjust the height and inclination of the headboard as convenient.
Wall cabinets above the head of the bed: use every free corner for storage!
Usually hanging mezzanines above the bed are present in children’s and teenage rooms. They are hung along the bed and used to store some rarely used things and “archives”. The bottom row of shelves of cabinets hanging above the bed is left open to accommodate various decorative elements and items of personal pride of the owner of the nursery. For example, on these shelves you can place children’s drawings, as well as sports cups and beautiful homemade products.
Many parents are concerned about safety issues. After all, some force majeure situations are not excluded, in which something can fall and collapse on a sleeping child. To avoid such traumatic situations, the design of hanging cabinets above the head of the bed is designed to be as strong as possible and based on side canisters or racks.
And also has a solid chipboard back wall, through which the cabinet body is also attached to the wall.
Also, many are confused by the psychological aspect when choosing. Won’t a closet hanging low overhead give an oppressive feeling?
In fact, the depth of wall cabinets rarely exceeds 300-400mm. Due to the voluminous back of the bed and the position of the pillow during sleep (at least 150-200 from the headboard), this distance is hidden. Moreover, they try to make the bottom of wall cabinets from light materials, close to the color of the ceiling. And they do not produce a pressing effect.
Photos of spectacular shelves and cabinets at the head of the bed, turning into bedside tables
We offer you a small selection of photos of how you can beautifully complement the head of the bed not only with traditional bedside tables, but with a whole system of shelving shelves and closed cabinets.
Such solutions are especially relevant for small bedrooms without separate dressing rooms.
And also for those who are not inclined to adhere to minimalism in their lifestyle and like to decorate their lives with memorabilia dear to the heart, essential household items.
We are all different. It is comfortable for someone to relax and sleep in an open, free from frills space. And someone strives to turn their bedroom into a cozy “mink”, a comfortable and protected corner for privacy.
If you don’t like redundancy in details, which cannot be avoided in rooms with a lot of open shelves, you can always close all doors with different opening methods as much as possible.
However, when designing closed hanging cabinets above the head of the bed, do not forget about ease of use.
After all, you cannot put a chair or stepladder on the bed itself if there is not enough height to use the upper sections of wall cabinets. Opening doors can also block access.

DIY upholstered headboard
Of the many pieces of furniture in the bedroom, the bed is the central element that sets the style of the room. We spend almost a third of our lives in a dream, so it is important to rationally approach the choice of the quality of a bed, its decor and comfortable design.
Soft handmade headboard will become a bright accent in the interior of the bedroom, make it cozy and functional.
DIY upholstered headboard for a bed – a way to create a unique interior
The upholstered backrest with an unusual decor refreshes the interior, creates a feeling of comfort and security due to its design.
It can be bought in the store, as a complete system to the bed, or separately. Many also decorate the upholstered headboard with their own hands – this is a more economical option for embodying your ideas, it will also create a creative unique interior in which you will enjoy spending time.
There are many techniques for decorating upholstered furniture backs. The result depends on your imagination and the variety of materials at hand. It can be completed:
- Carriage tie (capitonné)
- Decorated with soft pillows
- Soft tile
- Coarse knit
From pompoms
We will consider their features below.
How to fix the upholstered headboard to the bed
Depending on the fixing method, upholstered headboards are:
- Suspended
- Attached
- Rocker
- Stationary
Each of the ways to decorate upholstered headboards has its own nuances that should be taken into account.
For example, a do-it-yourself hanging upholstered headboard has one drawback: during the rearrangement, you need to drill new holes in the wall for fastening. But it is mobile and can be easily removed for cleaning.
This product is not only a beautiful decorative object, but has a functional purpose. The fastener to which it is attached can serve as a convenient shelf for books or other oversized items.
Add-on upholstered headboards are modular furniture elements that visually unite it into a whole structure. They do not need to be mounted on the wall, and therefore they are more mobile.
Fixed models are an integral part of the bed and cannot be removed from the bed. With the help of decor, they are modified and made more comfortable to use.
How to make the headboard soft
There are several ways to accomplish this task.
For example, make reversible upholstered headboards that are fastened with strings directly to the furniture. If necessary, they are easily removed and create a backrest that you can lean on when reading in bed.
Fine capitonné method
You will need:
- Shield (plywood) for base
- Good fabric (20 cm allowance)
- Foam rubber
- Sintepon
- Buttons with eyelet, fabric covered
- Drill, knife
- Furniture stapler, adhesive
- Self-tapping screws
The carriage tie method looks good in the production of expensive material (for example, velvet fabric or suede), and the tie itself is created in the form of rectangles. Plywood, foam rubber are taken as the basis, a synthetic winterizer is laid between the foam rubber and the fabric. Rivets can be buttons covered with fabric material.
Work progress:
Soft tile back decoration
This is an economical and unusual way of decorating. It is created from pieces of simple fabric and foam rubber. Similar to the previous method, plywood or cardboard serves as the basis here.
Cut out squares from plywood, glue foam rubber of the same size to it and cover with batting (making an allowance). We cover it with fabric on top, fixing it on the back side with a stapler.
Assemble the pattern from the squares on the base and fasten it to the furniture.
In addition to the methods described above, you can use the method without a screed, or decorate it with pillows to match the elements of the bed, or pompoms, as shown in the photos below.

The difference in price depends on the number of panel parts. The more such details, the higher
consumption of materials and more work to be done. This means that the panel itself will be more expensive. Most likely the term “panel details” needs some explanation. Any large panel
consists of fragments. The size of the fragments is dictated by the width of the material or the overall design.

Soft panels throughout the wall at our customer Vitaly. Complex geometry required a lot of time to be devoted to this

occur quite frequently. To accurately assemble the panel details in the panel, we used an additional layer of substrate. Panel parts are assembled on it.
This allows you to raise the performance bar to a high level. Of course, the substrate increases the cost of the order. But
the difference in price pays off with the quality of the finished product and the timing of installation. The main task in such projects is to make sure that expectations coincide with reality. Look at the project. In our opinion

Several factors affect the final cost of an order. Depending on the design and upholstery material, the panel
may cost differently.
Below are some examples of real objects with the final cost.Faux suede panel
Soft wall panel made of a material called Flagman open_in_new . Artificial suede with excellent properties.
Headboard panel. Our panel measures 190x280cm and consists of 11 rectangular pieces. The scope of work included measuring, manufacturing, delivery and installation in the apartment.
The project was completed on a turnkey basis. Price for September 21 63400r.
Velor panel
Velor is a very common upholstery material. In this project we used Sky velvet fabric from one of the
our suppliers. Olga, our customer, bought a bed in this upholstery. Therefore, the panel was made from the same material. And
again our panel will be the head of the bed.Olga did not immediately choose the shape of the panel details. We considered several options. As a result, we settled on the fifth:
Together with her husband, Olga measured the wall and sent the measurements to us via WhatsApp open_in_new .
Panel size 163x200cm. It consists of 8 non-rectangular parts. As you can see from the photo, preparation has been made on the panel
for installing wall lights. Olga did not need to freeze. Our part of the work on the project: the production of panels, their
delivery and installation in Olga’s house. The cost of the panel for September 21 is 44100 rubles.More velor panel
Another panel of velor. This time it’s Premier fabric open_in_new . And this time we have a double panel.
Just like with Olga’s panel, our customer Anastasia did not immediately come to this design. original project,
assumed parts of the panel of a larger size. Unfortunately, the width of the upholstery did not allow the panel to be made without
seams. Therefore, the details had to be reduced a little. The total length of the panel was 450cm. Panel height 250cm. There are 24 non-rectangular parts in the panel. Taking into account the measurement
delivery and installation of parts, as well as preparing the panel for the installation of sockets and switches, the entire project cost 126,000 rubles.
The price is not small. But the project is not easy! How to install the panel yourself
If the walls are even and there are no special wishes or restrictions, then the simplest thing is to glue the panels to the wall.
The weight of the panels is approximately 10-11 kilograms per square meter. That is, a piece measuring 100x220cm will weigh about 23
kilogram. It seems like a lot. This is really a lot, but good glue will easily hold even such
large panels. The item in the photo is exactly the same size and weight. There are many brands of glue to choose from. The main thing is to follow the instructions.
We, for example, use this. Seizes in 15-20 minutes. There is time for some progress. Hold tight but not
“tightly”. In the event of any failure or
if there is a desire to replace the upholstery, the panel can be dismantled and glued again. If there are a lot of details in the panel, then it is better to use guides: a rule or something similar. We use rails
from thick plywood. We fix them on the wall and align them according to the level. For large and heavy parts,
the guides will help keep the panel from moving while the glue “sets”.Well-thought-out manufacturing technology allows you to “assemble” the panels quickly enough. Panel of 8-12 parts can be
install in about 2.5 – 3 hours. With more details, of course, more time will be required. This panel
out of 42 parts, a team of two people installed in 5 hours. Is it difficult to install soft panels yourself? Ours is not! As we wrote earlier, we do a lot so that the customer has
opportunity to save on installation. The photo below was sent by our customer Yuri. This is an example of how his workers

optionalIf you want to equip a bedroom in a traditional style, when every piece of furniture should radiate harmony and comfort, and even visually inspire some calm and relaxation, you should definitely pay attention to the Lipari suite. The softness of the lines, the absence of sharp corners and the voluminous, soft, as if airy headboard – everything is conducive to a good rest. High-quality processing of wood materials ensures a long service life of the product, and the use of a new generation of filler allows you to consider the head of the bed as a comfortable back pillow when you want to end a busy day, sitting comfortably with a book under the soft glow of the sconce.
Dimensions of the bed – from 160 to 200 cm – allow us to consider the model for both spacious apartments and small rooms. And the possibility of arranging the bedroom with functional Lipari bedside tables, designed in the same style as the bed, and thereby creating an integral composition of the room’s decoration, will appeal to many. The geometric design, while maintaining clear parallels and straight lines, gives the practical and functional cabinets a certain futuristic mood, especially since the entire set is decorated with laconic, almost imperceptible steel supports, due to which it seems to soar in space.
