A birthday is always a time for celebration and, unlike other celebrations during the year, a birthday focuses on one special person. If there’s a special person in your life, whether it’s a parent, a boyfriend or girlfriend, a spouse or a best friend, show them just how much they mean to you by hosting a party for their next birthday.

All birthdays are special, but some are more special than others. Think back to those birthdays when you were teased, congratulated, or celebrated in an extra special way. Which means another chance to become creative if you’re planning someone’s milestone birthday party. There are several things to consider when you plan one of these special parties. If you’re planning a 50th birthday party for someone, here are ideas for making the day special in a more gentle way that will still be lots of fun.

It’s so easy to choose gifts for kids. They’re always telling you about their latest interests and showing you their latest collection or creation. And you know those toy manufacturers are more than happy to comply with the hot fads by making add-on products. Adults, on the other hand, do nothing but work, right? Don’t be fooled. There are many fun things you can get for a grownup birthday gift too. You just have to take a few extra minutes to think about it. This list will give you a good place to begin.

Kiddie birthday parties are often designed around a theme. Are they at the pink princess stage? The pirate or race car driver phase? Monkeys? Dinosaurs? Will there be games? Or if there’s a television or music celebrity they love, bam! you have a theme for a party. Well, we’re here to tell you that grownups like themes too, especially if it’s an all-ages birthday party. If you’re planning one of those cross-generational events, a Nifty Fifties Soda Fountain Theme will be appropriate for all guests at your party.

While we’re on the subject of theme parties, a surprise party is in itself a theme. But it isn’t for the faint of heart. You really need to know your guest of honor to be sure they won’t pass out from the shock or be very upset with you that they showed up in dirty clothes from doing chores all day, only to be seen by a room full of well-dressed and well-coiffed guests. Not a good idea. If you do decide to proceed with this plan anyway, here are the steps you should take to make sure it really is a surprise.

There are some people, and from what I’ve been reading more than you would imagine, who are a bit introverted and enjoy smaller get-togethers over big bashes. They like the intimacy and conversation that comes with a small, close group of friends or family. And since your guest list won’t be that large, you can afford to splurge a bit on your menu and party supplies and make it an elegant birthday celebration.

Make sure your housewarming party is more than just a parade full of endless house tours with these fun housewarming party games. They’ll show off your new home and get your guests laughing all at the same time.

Since you’ve recently moved, all these games are easy to set up and use items that you probably already have. This will make the party fun for you too, with easy setup and no stress fun.

If you’re looking for something a bit more general, these party games for adults would be great incorporated into your housewarming party.

If you’d like to give away small prizes for the winner of these games, a great idea that everyone will love is gift cards. To keep the home theme going, give out gift cards from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Michaels, or Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Other ideas include kitchen accessories, plants, candy, and keychains. Anything house related will be a hit.

Keep Your Key

Keep your key is a game all about what you shouldn’t say. You’ll want to choose some forbidden words that you’re guests can get caught saying at a housewarming party. Some examples of forbidden words that you can choose include house, home, mailbox, paint, kitchen, TV, etc. Print off some key stickers or labels and fill them in with a different forbidden word for each guest. When guests arrive at the party, stick a key sticker on them (let them read it) and let the fun begin.

When a guest hears another guest say the word you’ve chosen, then they can steal their key sticker for themselves. The person with the most keys at the end of the party is the winner.

New House Scavenger Hunt

A great way to get your guests to pay attention to those special new home details is a scavenger hunt. You can ask guests to find answers to questions about your new home, neighborhood, decor, and more.

You could create your own scavenger hunt, or print off this How Well Do You Know Us? free printable that’s all ready to go.

Room Memory

Here’s a housewarming game that will test your guests’ memories while they work in small teams. Pick a room in your home and let a small group of guests at a time go in for 2-minutes. When they exit, ask them to write down items that they remember seeing in the room. The winner is the team with the most correct answers.

Pick a Card, Any Card

Have a pile of moving announcement cards ready for guests to pick up so they have your new address. Make it a game by writing a number in the bottom corner that corresponds to those written on slips of paper. After everyone has their cards, draw a number. The person with the same number on their moving card is the winner!

Famous House Match

Print out pictures of houses made famous by a TV show or movie. See how many guests can guess which house belongs to which show. You can also have guests use their phones to take this house matching quiz and see how many they can get right.

House Style Crossword

How much do your guests know about the styles of houses? Find out in this low-key housewarming party game where they’ll identify 19 types of houses in a printable crossword puzzle.

Unscramble Our House

Have guests write down on a sheet of paper how many words they can spell with the letters used in the word h-o-u-s-e. Hint: There are 27 of them!

Don’t stop there! You could also have guests unscramble your last name or new street name. You could also choose different words like home, family, neighborhood, etc.

Oven Mitt Unwrap

Have your guests sit in a circle. Hand one player a pair of dice and the player to the right of them a wrapped gift and an oven mitt. The person with the dice starts rolling while the other person puts on the oven mitt and begins to try to unwrap the gift. Once the player with the dice gets a double, the dice goes to the person on the left and now it’s there turn to try to unwrap the gift.

Keep going around in the same way until someone gets the gift unwrapped and open. The player who does so gets to keep the gift.

Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt

Show off your new neighborhood with a scavenger hunt that will encourage guests to get out and see what they can find. You can make your own list or use a printable scavenger hunt list to get started right away. If you want to keep guests inside you can create a photo scavenger hunt and have your guests take photos on their phone of certain items in your house.

If there are children at your housewarming party, you can have an outside scavenger hunt so they can go out and explore your yard and new neighborhood.

The presents have been opened and the cake has been devoured…now what? When you’ve got a bunch of kids gathered together and hopped up on sugar, you need a game plan. Good news: Our round up of the best birthday party games for kids of all ages will burn off some of that energy while keeping the party vibes going.

1. Pass The Parcel

Fast-paced and fun, this classic party game will be an instant hit with kids—and all you need is one present and plenty of wrapping paper (i. e., enough to wrap said present multiple times) to pull it off. To begin play, simply start and stop music as the guests pass the parcel around in a circle; whenever the music stops, the person holding the present gets to remove one layer or wrapping paper before the passing resumes. The game ends when one lucky partygoer sheds the final layer of wrapping and wins the prize. Hint: You might consider putting candy or a small prize in between each layer of wrapping paper so that no one walks away empty-handed.

2. Water Balloon Toss

Head outdoors with a bucket of water balloons for a test of hand-eye coordination that’s sure to make a splash. The rules are simple: Guests divide into pairs and toss a water balloon back and forth, taking one big step back with every successful catch. If the water balloon bursts, the pair is out of luck (and out of the game). Needless to say, the last twosome standing wins the toss—though that doesn’t mean they’re safe from the water balloon fight that will likely ensue.

3. Hide And Seek

This popular game for kids has stood the test of time, so we probably don’t need to tell you how to play. Suggest a round of hide-and-seek at a birthday party and children will eagerly scatter to various hiding spots in and outside the home. As for the seeker, his mission will grow stronger with each uncovered partygoer that joins his team.

4. Treasure Hunt

Make the kids work for their goody bags with a good old fashioned treasure hunt. To organize it, simply hide clues around the house or yard that, little by little, disclose the location of the loot. You can even create a map if you prefer—either way, the difficulty level can be tailored to the age of the guests in attendance so it’s sure to go over well with any crowd.

5. Musical Chairs

Chances are you already know how to play this classic party game, but just in case you need a refresher: Kids pace around a circle of chairs—one chair less than the number of guests—while music plays, and then compete for a seat when the tunes are put on pause. The kid left standing is out and one chair is removed before the next round begins. By the end of the game, two kids will be competing for a single seat…and the title of musical chair champion, of course.

6. Charades

A miming-and-guessing game known and loved by all, this activity promises to entertain kids and adults alike. That said, you should probably steer clear of charades at parties for the preschool crowd, since it’s highly likely a 4-year-old would curl up in a ball on the floor and then get disappointed when no one guesses ‘toaster’ (for example).

7. Pictionary

Another beloved guessing game for players of all ages, Pictionary is also particularly well-suited to larger groups. The gist of this game is that guests are divided into two teams and one person from each team is nominated to bring one word to life with a sketch while their teammates try to guess what’s being drawn. Exciting, creative and often uproariously funny (particularly when unskilled artists are involved)—this one is a winner. Bonus: This one can also be adapted for play without the board game.

8. Red Rover

Red Rover is basically a childhood rite of passage, so it’s sure to be appreciated by both the young partygoers and the parents watching from the wings. In case you’ve forgotten, Red Rover consists of two human chains of tiny people, who then take turns calling for an opposing teammate to be sent over to try to break the link. This one is a ton of fun, but it’s best played outdoors, and a rather large group is required for the full experience.

9. Relay Race

Relay races are a reliably exciting addition to the party game lineup—not to mention, an excellent way to wear out a group of energetic kids. This track and field event consists of two teams competing against each other in a race with multiple legs. Each team member completes one component of the race and then gets relieved by the next teammate in line. There are endless variations on this one, so you can get creative and even add some silly challenges for good measure.

10. Balloon Waddle

This party game requires only one prop—and if there’s a birthday celebration happening, you likely already have it on hand. Best of all, the balloon waddle—a game in which participants race one another whilst trying to hold a birthday balloon securely between their legs—is as fun for grown-ups to watch as it is for little kids to participate in. Yep, try this one out and hilarity will surely follow.

11. Freeze Tag

In freeze tag—a well-established variation on the classic game—there are two players, designated as ‘it,’ who must run around trying to tag the rest of the fleeing partygoers. In this version, a player is neither out nor ‘it’ upon getting tagged—instead, a tagged player must freeze in place until another player comes around to unfreeze them with a double high five, at which point they can rejoin the game again. Given the amount of running involved, it goes without saying that this party game is best played outdoors. That said, it’s a great way for kids to burn off the post-birthday cake sugar high.

Robert Kneschke/EyeEm/Getty Images

12. Marco Polo

You’re probably familiar with Marco Polo as a popular water game, but you needn’t be throwing a pool party for the guests to get in on the fun. Indeed, Marco Polo can be played in much the same way on land with one blindfolded child calling out ‘Marco’ and the rest of the players forced to reveal their location by answering ‘Polo’ in response, whilst trying to escape being tagged.

13. Capture The Flag

This traditional kid-friendly sport involves two teams, two markers (flag, bandana or basically anything else) and one objective: capture the opponents flag. All players who get caught (i.e., tagged) during an attempt to capture the flag get sent to “jail’—a cone-marked boundary on the opposing team’s side of the field—until a teammate makes a mad dash to set them free. The game continues until someone successfully captures the flag and brings it across to their team’s side of the field. Bottom line: If you have access to a large grassy field on which to play, this one promises to serve up plenty of entertainment and exercise to boot.

14. Hot Potato

Hot potato is a shoo-in for the preschool birthday party crowd, and all you need is a ball to play. To start, simply have the young guests gather round in a circle and start passing a ball to each other as quickly as possible while a quick tune plays—whoever is caught holding the ball when the music stops has to sit out the game in the center of the circle (i.e., where hot potato soup is made). This fast-paced activity is plenty engaging for little kids and will likely bring lots of laughter, too.

Morsa Images/Getty Images

15. Truth Or Dare

It’s not a tween party without a round (or several) of truth or dare—the game that challenges players to choose between spilling some deep, dark secret or opting to complete a wild or daring task. Hopefully the partygoers have enough good sense to not take this one too far—but in the age of dangerous TikTok trends, parents might want to keep an eye on how the game goes down—you know, in case something a tad too reckless is suggested as a dare.

Mayur Kakade/Getty Images

16. Pin The Tail On The Donkey

Pin the Tail on the Donkey is a must at any birthday party for little kids. This one requires little explanation: Just hang a poster of a donkey or some other character—there are plenty of variations on the theme—and give each guest a turn to pin the tail in the proper place after being blindfolded and spun in circles. It’s no easy feat, and the failed attempts sure are funny to watch.

Westend61/Getty Images

17. Potato Sack Race

A bunch of happy hoppers trying to cross the finish line with their legs confined to a single potato sack is a recipe for one entertaining race. Any birthday party for kids that’s taking place outdoors, or has the option of backyard access, will benefit from this goofy game.

Jupiterimages/Getty Images

18. Piñata

Is it even a birthday party if there’s no piñata? We think not. String up one of these paper mâché wonders—preferably one that corresponds to the theme of the party—and watch as the young savages take turns bashing it in an effort to claim the candy inside. It’s a whole lot of fun with a decidedly sweet reward.

Rolf Bruderer/Getty Images

19. Obstacle Course

There are no shortage of ways to set up an obstacle course so feel free to get as creative as you’d like with this one (think: stepping stones and makeshift balance beams). The activity can also go down inside the home or outdoors, so there’s flexibility there—just be sure to design the course with safety in mind and tailor it to the physical ability of the age group that will be participating.

Jamie Grill/Getty Images

20. Balloon Keep-up

Make sure you have a few helium-free balloons among the party decorations, because a game of balloon keep-up will keep kids entertained for quite a while. The game is exactly what it sounds like—a frantic effort among a group of kids to keep a balloon (or several) from touching the floor. Lively and energetic, balloon keep-up can be played outdoors or in the home—provided you remove any breakables in advance.

MoMo Productions/Getty Images

21. Simon Says

Charades might be a miss with Pre-K crowd, but Simon Says certainly will not. An adult can play the part of Simon, or you can even put the birthday kid in the position of power for this one—either way, the whole gang will have a blast following along…and then realizing that they shouldn’t have. (Oops…Simon didn’t say!)

Robyn Breen Shinn/Getty Images

22. Sardines

This game is essentially a novel twist on hide-and-seek in that only one person hides and everybody else seeks. However, when one seeker discovers the location of the hiding kid, he doesn’t blow up her spot. Instead, the two players hide together in the same place and wait for more seekers to find them and do the same. At the end of the game, you’ve got a bunch of kids packed in like sardines, and the search party has dwindled down to one seeker with the (presumably easier) task of finding the whole crew.

ozgurcankaya/Getty Images

23. Fishing For Prizes

This birthday party spin on a classic carnival game involves kids fishing in an inflatable pool for a bunch of magnetic toys. It’s easy enough to buy magnetic fishing wands for the purpose, and there are a range of cool trinkets, like foam bath toys, that kids can effectively catch and take home as a prize.

kali9/Getty Images

24. Egg And Spoon Race

Kids are sure to have a grand time with this one, whether you include it as a leg in your relay race or leave it as a stand-alone event. As for the rules of play, each kid competes to cross the finish line first while balancing a hardboiled egg on a spoon. Fortunately, a dropped egg will not make a mess or remove a player from the race. That said, any competitor who fumbles does have to go back to the starting line to try again. ..which isn’t eggs-cellent news. (Sorry, we had to.)

Fuse/Getty Images

25. Minute To Win It Games

There are a whole host of minute to win it games out there to choose from and they all go down exactly as you might guess (i.e., 60 seconds to complete some type of task before another partygoer beats you to it). One example, pictured above, is a game in which kids compete to eat a whole donut, dangling from a string and swaying in the breeze, before the clock runs out. No matter which minute-to-win-it you go with, though, you’re guaranteed some fast-paced fun.

Cavan Images/Getty Images

26. Corn Hole

You’ll need to purchase a cornhole set (i.e., board and bean bags) for this birthday party diversion, but the investment is well worth it—namely because corn hole doesn’t have to be an organized event. Instead, this game of hand-eye coordination can be set up for casual play so that guests of all ages can give it a go at their leisure. In other words, this is low-maintenance entertainment at its finest.

Charades Ideas for Kids

To get ready first, print out our Free Printable Charades Ideas for Kids with 144 Words & 8 Categories to choose from.

Then break the kids up into teams. You can do two larger teams or if you have a lot of kids maybe make 4 teams.

Have a bowl with the printed-out Charades words for the kids to pick from when it’s their turn. I suggest folding over the papers so no one sneaks a peek (:

The first player on a team has 1 minute to act out the word on their paper. If their team guesses the word before the 1 minute is up their team gets 1 point. If they don’t guess the word the other team has one chance to guess the correct answer and win the point.

The trade-off between teams taking turns until all the kids have had a chance to act out a word.

The winning team has the most points at the end of the game.

Hot Potato

What You Need – An actual potato or get the electronic Hot Potato that plays timed music to make it easier to run the game.

How to Play – Have the kids sit in a circle. When the music starts they begin passing the potato. When the music stops whoever has the potato is out. The winner is the last child still in the game.

Saran Wrap Candy Ball

What You Need – Pieces of Candy or small trinkets for prizes, 2 -3 boxes of Saran Wrap (Cling Wrap), 2 dice, and tin pie holder (to roll dice)

How to Make Your Saran Wrap Ball – Start by laying out a couple of layers of Saran Wrap on a flat surface. Then add a prize and roll it into a ball. Next, add another piece of candy in a different location and wrap a few more pieces of Saran Wrap.

Rotate the ball each time you wrap it so the wrapping starts in different locations and is harder to open. Also, make sure to keep shaping it into a ball as you go.

Keep going with alternating between wrapping and adding a prize until you’ve wrapped all your prizes.

How to Play – Sit the kids in a circle to play. Each round has an “unwrapper” and dice player sitting next to each other.

When you say go the unwrapper starts unwrapping and the dice play throws their dice until they get doubles. Use the pie tin to throw the dice into so they don’t roll too far.

When they get doubles the unwrapper has to stop and can keep any prizes that came out while they were playing.

The ball is then passed to the dice player who now becomes the unwrapper and the player next to them is the dice player. Keep going like this around the circle until you’ve come to the last prize.

Tip: I would add the best prize you are giving in first when wrapping the ball. This way the last prize of the game they open is your best item.

Detective Games

Plan a fun Mystery party with exciting Detective Games for kids. Tell the kids a detective riddle and have them write their answers in invisible ink to create secret messages. While it dries play escape room games, or have a teddy bear scavenger hunt with clues.

You’ll find tons of ideas in our Mystery & Detective Games for Kids.

What You Need – Enough chairs for all the kids but one. So if you have 12 kids have 11 chairs. Plus music to play during the game.

How to Play – Place chairs in two rows with the backs of the chairs touching the row behind them. Kids begin by forming a circle around the chairs.

Next start the music and the kids walk in a circle around the chairs. When the music stops they must sit down on a chair.

The kid who does not get a chair is out. Each round after someone is out, remove a chair and play again. In the end, you will have one chair and two players. Whoever gets that chair is the winner.

Laser Maze

What You Need – streamers, painters tape

How to Play – Create a fun laser maze for the kids to climb through at the birthday party. It’s super easy to do with streamers taped across your hallway.

I suggest using painters tape so that you don’t ruin the paint on your walls.

When it’s all set up let your kids try to get through the maze without touching the lasers (streamers). To make it a game have the kids race through and time them to see who is the fastest.

Airplane Races

What You Need – Blank 8X11 Paper, Crayons, Paperclips

How to Play – Let the kids start out by folding and decorating their planes. Then have them line up and see who’s plane flies the furthest. To keep it going add paper clips in the next round to the tip and see if it changes the outcome.

Capture the Flag

What You Need – Something to be a flag could be a bandana or a piece of cloth. You’ll need one for each team you have.

How to Play – A parent hides each team’s flag around the house and the team that finds their flag first wins.

Bigger Challenge – If kids are a little older make it more challenging by adding in Nerf Guns.

Each team still searches for their flag but if you are shot by an opponent’s nerf dart you have to go back to your base and start searching over again.

Hide & Seek

This is a classic game and great for smaller kids’ birthday parties.

How to Play – One child is the seeker the others are the hiders. The seeker closes their eyes and counts to 10. While they do that the other kids hide.

The first kid they find is the seeker for the next game. Continue to keep searching until all the kids are found then start another round.

Mummy Wrap

This is a great game at Halloween time but honestly, it’s really fun any time of the year.

What You Need – 2 Rolls of Toliet Paper per team

How to Play – Divide the kids up into teams. Each team then picks one person to be wrapped up like a mummy. When you say go each team will work to cover that person with toilet paper.

There are two ways you could pick winners. 1 – The first to wrap the entire body of the player. 2 – The first to go through all their toilet paper.

TIP: It’s tempting to buy the cheap toilet paper but it tends to rip easily and it is harder to wrap the mummy.

Tennis Balloon

What You Need – paper plate for each kid, popsicle stick for each kid or wooden spoons, masking tape, crayons, and balloons.

How to Play – Have each child start by decorating their paper plate and taping it to a popsicle stick or wooden spoon. Then team up kids in twos and give each team a balloon.

When you say go one player throws the balloon up and the team hits the balloon back and forth like a game of tennis. If a team’s balloon touches the ground they are out. The last team left in the game wins.

How to Play – Hang the poster up on the wall and give each kid a donkey tail to pin. The first child puts on the mask and tries to pin the tail on the donkey while blindfolded. Continue by letting each child try. In the end whichever tail is the closest to the right spot wins.

Obstacle Course Idea – Line up 5 cones for kids to weave through, then hop through a hula hoop, next cross a balance beam (board & two buckets), and end by running through a ladder laid flat on the ground.

This can be easily adjusted to whatever you have laying around the house. I’ve even taped cut-out shapes that the kids hop through like a frog.

Zombie Tag – The tagger is a zombie and the rest of the kids are humans. Once a human is tagged by a zombie they become a zombie too and begin tagging the humans. Whoever is the last human left is the winner.

Freeze Tag – When kids get tagged in this game they have to freeze. In order to unfreeze another kid needs to crawl between your legs to free you. But they must do this without getting tagged themselves. The last kid, not frozen wins.

Glow in the Dark Tag – Have each kid wear glow stick necklaces and play tag at night in the backyard. Before you play this make sure they have a safe place to play in the dark with no obstacles in the way or streets close by to run on.

Water Balloon Baseball

What You Need – Water Balloons, bat, bases

How to Play – Put the kids on two teams. One goes in the outfield and the other team waits to bat.

The pitcher will throw 3 water balloon pitches. If the batter hits it they advance to first base and the other players move to the next base or make it home.

If the batter misses all three pitches they are out. You score by making it around all the bases just like a real baseball game.

This is a really fun party game on a hot summer day.

Water Balloon Battle

What You Need – Water Balloons and a large bucket for each team

How to Play – Break kids up into two teams and each gets a bucket of water balloons. Then let the kids throw the balloons at the other team. You can do a line down the middle to keep them from getting too close with the balloons.

TIP: When the game is done tell them the faster they pick up all the balloons in the grass the quicker they can eat the cake. That way they are all cleaned up before the end of the party.

Water Balloon Toss

What You Need – Water Balloons

How to Play – Have kids pick a partner and line up in two long lines facing their partner. Kids will throw the water balloon to their partner to catch.

Start out with the kids close and after each round have the kids take two big steps back. If you drop the balloon your team is out.

Spoon Races

Important points for organizing entertainment:

  • To begin with, determine according to what program the competition will be held – by teams or each for himself. Prepare a small prize for the winner – after all, guests should have an interest in winning. For each contest won, you can give a Birthday Chip. The player (team) with the most chips at the end of the evening wins and receives the main prize.

  • While the guests are sitting at the first table, it will be convenient to hold a series of table competitions. Then, to shake the tummies, hold active games. And when the guests have a good drink and relax – it’s time for music and dance competitions

  • Look at the mood of the guests so that there are not many competitions. After all, there should be enough time for socializing and dancing

1. Toast tasks

Thanks to cool toast-tasks – the wishes of the guests at the table will “sparkle with new colors”. This competition will help to avoid banal toasts and reveal the creative streak of those who are toasting.

Before the start of the feast, each guest is given a card with a task. For example: “Say a toast in a foreign language”, “Read a toast in the style of rap”, “Congratulate the birthday man in the style of Renata Litvinova”, “Say a toast while doing squats”, etc.

Accordingly, the guest who told the toast the funniest of all receives the audience award and an additional point in the overall competitive race. More about the contest + ready-made cards: Cheerful toasts-tasks for guests.

2. Quiz

For the birthday quiz, we have selected interesting trick questions that will make your guests think.

All questions of the quiz are made in the form of colorful slides with 5 answer options, which can be downloaded for free. In order to win, you need to guess the largest number of correct answers. Details about the contest + cards for the quiz here: Quiz with interesting questions

We recommend a cool version of the quiz for a fun company: Quiz with punishments

3. Guess who you are?

The good old game for the company, which always goes with a bang.

How to play
  1. The names of famous personalities are written on small pieces of paper: any characters, heroes, pop stars, politicians, etc. You can write them in advance, or you can invite guests to come up with them on the go
  2. Papers are taped to guests’ foreheads so that everyone except the player can see the name of the character
  3. With the help of leading questions to other participants, each player tries to find out “Who is he”. But the answer to the question can only be “Yes” or “No”

Tip! Write the name of the birthday person on a piece of paper among other characters. Regardless of who gets a piece of paper with his name – the process of solving will be very fun.

Props

We have made a blank of the names of famous people for the game “Who am I?”. You can print the cards, cut them out and choose the ones that you think will work best.

Example. The name of the birthday boy is Pavel, respectively, you need to find prizes for letters that begin with the letters P (hand towel) – A (pen) – B (vase) – E (food) – L (spoon). Even if these prizes are ridiculous – it’s only more fun.

1. Competition “All Together”

On a blank sheet of paper, one of the guests or the presenter, at the beginning (top) of the sheet, writes a phrase, for example: “Dear Ivan Ivanovich (birthday man), thank you for the day our acquaintance! Gives this sheet of paper to the next sitting guest. He reads what is written, enters his phrase a little lower – a wish and bends the sheet so that the first phrase of the host is not visible (you can put a couple of paper clips on the table in advance so that the sheet does not open). Gives the sheet with his open phrase to the next guest. This participant in the feast reads the entry without opening the folded part of the sheet, ascribes a wish from himself. He tucks a sheet of paper with a record of the previous guest, and passes it on. The action is repeated. Thus, all the guests at the table will be participants in a playful birthday greeting (and a joke is a must). At the end of the competition, as soon as all participants write a message to the birthday boy, it is read out.

2. Competition “Greetings”

The host announces a fun music competition in which women will participate in one group, men in another. At the command of the leader, they will perform a musical greeting in turn. (The host needs to distribute sheets with couplets of songs to the guests of the feast. ) Men begin (for example, a song like this: “Let’s sing, let’s live, let’s love our life”), then women sing (a song for example: “Without me, you are my beloved”). While singing, the participants need to be creative. The host chooses the winning team at his discretion.

3. Question about the birthday boy contest

Make up a funny, fun dialogue about the birthday boy in the form of questions and answers. Write them on separate sheets of paper. Divide the questions and answers into 2 piles, without mixing, put the questions in one box, the answers in the other. Invite a couple of guests sitting at the table to participate in the competition. They will act out a scene – a dialogue. (Example of a question: “How much do you think our birthday boy got?” Example of an answer: “I don’t know for sure, but there is a hundred, I already drank a glass.”

You can include all birthday participants in the contest. To do this, lay out unanswered questions on the table near the appliances of each guest, and instruct the host to read the answers. Make sure that the audience is fun and interesting, joke kindly, think creatively and all participants in the feast will be pleased with the result.

4. Competition “What for?”

For this competition you will need three plastic bags of any kind, a small table. The host invites three participants in the competition, gives each a package, and asks him to collect in them any, not too large items that are in the room. One minute is given to complete the task. After the “Stop” command, the host asks each player to put their items on the table in turn and explain to the guests why he needed them. The competition can be held in any company of adults. But for a large company, the host will need to ask the guests for small items – “requisites” for the competition (for example: a comb, belt, lipstick, cigarettes, key chain, etc.) and arrange them on the table, then ask the participants to quickly put something in the bag which they like best. Please return the props after the competition.

5. Competition “Comic lie”

The host chooses a cheerful, positive communicative person from among the guests. He will be the “mouthpiece” of comic lies – he will impromptu answer the questions of the guests of the feast, and the guests should try to bring him “to clean water.” Questions may relate to the “culprit” of the celebration, guests, items and dishes on the table. The competition will be held in a well-known format: “lie detector – truth serum”, you will need to be creative. Alternately, any of the guests present at the birthday party can participate in the competition. At the end, two prizes are given out, one for the answerer of the questions, the other for the most playful, funny or creative question. (For example: Question – “Who made this salad?” Answer – “I bought it in a nearby supermarket”, guests need to refute such a statement.).

6. Funny contest “Broken phone”

The presenter honors the birthday boy and pronounces an approximate phrase: “Let’s all together tell the “hero” of the occasion what he is like in life, tell about his successes and achievements.” Then, playing the “spoiled phone”, in an indistinct whisper he passes a joke to the guest sitting next to him – a description of the birthday man. This information in a modified form passes from guest to guest, acquires some details (improvise). The guest, sitting near the birthday man, announces what he has heard for general fun. Conversation – the joke can be repeated several times, saying something new is also slurred.

7. Image collection competition

The birthday boy puts some items from his wardrobe in a box and asks to put some things of the guests that are not needed at the table (for example: gloves, hat, umbrella, scarf, etc. ) . Invites several participants (two, four, six people – you need to play in pairs), and you will need to focus on the number of things in the box. Team members take out wardrobe items from the box in a short time and dress each other. The best design image deserves an award.

8. Contest at the “Guess” table

The host brings several items to the audience and asks the guests to guess what is encrypted in the collection of these items. What kind of information load do they carry? Guests put forward different versions, but they are unlikely to be able to guess right away. The first letters of the collection of items make up the name of the birthday boy. For example: name – Leo; items – varnish, blackberry, funnel. During the competition, the host asks to actively offer options, encourages participants, makes tips. The prize (a collection of these items) is awarded to the first person to offer the correct answer. If, however, the guests guess quickly, you can continue the competition, now the guessed word for the collection of items can be any dish on the table, you need to prepare the second collection in advance.

9. Competition “Who is smarter?”

Have a plastic cup and some straws ready. The participant of the competition takes a straw in his mouth, with its help he tries to pick up a plastic glass and pass it to his neighbor. Neighbors do the same. Accepts a glass with a straw and passes the baton to another. You can’t take the glass with your hands. During the competition, there is animation and fun.

Adult birthday contests are funny

10. Reverse Contest

The host offers the participants of the feast a few words, but pronounces them while reading from the end in reverse order (for example: akliv – fork, talas – salad, nanab – banana, etc. .d.), reports that they are all on the table. Further, he proposes to understand what is encrypted in these words, to guess the objects, to find them. The participant who finds all the items the fastest will be the winner of the competition.

11. Competition “Culinary Expert”

The competition takes place on the principle of the familiar game of cities, but as a “city” participants will pronounce culinary dishes. As it turned out, this is much more difficult. The first guest says the name of the dish, the next one adds his name of the dish, to the last letter of the word. For example:
“Beef Stroganoff – Vinaigrette – Meatballs – Caviar, etc.” Guests, having cheered up, can help each other if the pause drags on. The prize is given to an expert in culinary names.

12. Competition “The story is a joke”

Each of the guests for this competition at the table offers one word. The birthday boy writes down all the words and composes a funny story – a joke, weaving all the words into the text. Then he reads (or tells) to her guests. Then you can pass the baton to one of the guests and start the competition at the table again. The narrator with the funniest joke wins.

13. Competition “Master of epithet, master of compliment”

Competition of beautiful epithets, compliments about real men and women. The guests of the feast are conditionally divided into two groups, in one – men, in the other – women. Participants should be equally divided, other guests can help any group. The essence of the competition is that women reward with epithets, compliments of men, men – women. The team that lasts the longest wins. Try to make it fun and dignified.

14. The funniest contest

Organize a cool competition for the funniest questions, answers to any topic. Give the biggest original a prize.

15. “We come from childhood” competition

Ask the guests invited to the birthday party in advance to prepare their childhood photos, preferably from the “amusing photo” or “fun photo” series. During the feast, hand out photos. Guests will need to understand who is shown in the picture. The one whom they recognized, guessed, will have to tell their favorite rhyme from childhood or sing their favorite song.

16. Cheerful competition “Funny Advertising”

Table competition for a small company, whose participants watch TV with one eye during the celebration. Advertisements are shown frequently. The number of participants depends on the number of videos on the screen. During the next commercial break, the presenter turns off the sound of the TV. At this time, one of the guests of the feast begins, advertises a silent video using words, gestures, actions. As soon as one advertised story ends, another guest enters. It is important here that each next participant starts voicing ads immediately when changing the video on the screen. It will be a funny amusing competition, since none of those present knows how many minutes the video sequence will last.

17. Contest “What kind of bird”

The host sits the contestant on a chair with its back to the guests. After that, he hangs a card on the back of the chair, on which is the name of some famous person (the participant should not see the name). Then the facilitator invites the participant to guess which bird’s name is written on the card. The participant can ask any questions (for example: “Does she have a large wingspan?”, “Where does she live? Etc. ”). The guests of the feast can answer them in different ways, but you don’t need to immediately voice the name of the person.

18. Competition “Guess the weather”

The birthday boy names several capitals of the world (how many guests, so many capitals). Each guest chooses one and reports what the weather is like there at a given time, based on their knowledge and intuition (cloudy, snow, wind, sunny, rain, air temperature, etc.). The birthday boy checks the erudition of guests on the Internet using his phone.

19. Gesture Contest “Guess the song”

The host prepares a list of songs, enters the name on separate cards (the number of cards is equal to the number of guests present at the birthday party). One of the guests of the feast chooses one of the offered cards from the host. Reads the title (to himself, not aloud) and explains to other guests, with the help of gestures, what the song is. He can confirm the assumptions and guesses of other participants about the name of the song only with the words “yes”, “close”, “something similar” or reject with the word “no”. After the song is guessed, the other guest again chooses the card with the name of the song and continues the contest. The host awards points to guests for successful guesses. Whoever has more points gets a prize.

20. Competition “What is it?”

The host invites some guests to participate in the competition. All of them are blindfolded, they check that nothing can be seen. The host takes a cutlery (fork or spoon), informs the participants of the competition what is in his hand. Then she knocks on some object standing on the table, she is interested in “what kind of object is this?”. Participants must guess the name of the object by ear. The one who guesses is uncovered and awarded a prize, the rest continue to guess. The guests at the table cheer the contestants with the words “cold”, “hot”.

21. Competition “Surprise”

Starting this table competition, the host asks the guests if they know who invented the fork. Since there is no reliable information about this, the guests will perk up, (for sure they will remember Neptune, the royal people who first used the fork at the table) will talk about the history of the fork, guess who invented it. After discussing the topic, the host gives one of the guests a clean fork. Offers to choose any product from the dishes on the table and chop on a fork. Then he offers to pass the fork with the product to the neighbor, he must also choose the product and chop it on the fork. So the fork passes from guest to guest. The presenter asks the contestants to make the contents on the fork not only high-calorie, but also beautiful. The resulting version of the set of products is presented as a surprise from the guests to the birthday man, he must eat it.

22. Competition “Guess the dish or object”

One of the guests is blindfolded. They give two forks, with which he will determine either an object or a dish. The contestant must find out what the dish consists of without trying, if it is an object, then what it is, and tell the guests about it. The participant has the right to ask questions to guests, but you can only answer in monosyllables “yes”, “no”, “close”.

23. Competition “Recognize by voice”

Interesting entertainment for all guests who came to the birthday party. The host offers to find out if the birthday boy knows his guests well. The birthday boy is turned back to the guests. The guests say his name in turn, one of them changes his voice.

Why is it all necessary

Many people (we won’t point fingers, but most often these are not our most positive comrades) sometimes ask the question – why all these contests ? Usually I get off with jokes or weightily answer that otherwise it will be boring. In fact, the reason, of course, is not boredom. Any holiday for adults most often involves alcohol, and in order for guests not to be too zealous with breastfeeding, they need to be a little distracted, amused, and simply raised to dance.

Another important aspect is embarrassment, which I often encounter when throwing a party for my children or nephews. They have already gone beyond the age when you can just come up and start playing together, and when children who are unfamiliar with each other are in the same company, you need to help them overcome a little chill in communication.

The only place where you can do without additional entertainment is a youth party in a good club, where it is not boring even without fun contests for adults, and it is better to help any group of adults to spend time with pleasure and fun.

Preparing

Don’t think that you can prepare the whole party, including adult board games, at the last second. I usually set aside a few days for this because it will require:

  • to write the script;
  • pick up contests for adults;
  • find or buy props;
  • stock up on small prizes for winners;
  • minimally rehearse (for example, if it is assumed that several large aunts from the accounting department will compete in bag jumps, then you need to check in advance whether the room can withstand such a scale and whether there is where to turn around).

Ideally, you need a helper for all this.

Birthday Toast Game

How to prepare funny birthday contests? It is best if they are at least a little connected with the hero of the occasion. An example of the simplest word game for a birthday is a toast to a birthday person, composed right there at the table.

What is required for this entertainment? A pen and a postcard in which you need to write a congratulatory text in advance, making gaps instead of adjectives – you will fill them in together with the guests.

The text of the blank for congratulating the birthday man:

Those who do not know what will happen in the end will diligently praise the hero of the occasion, listing his best qualities (young, smart, handsome, experienced), and those who are a little more familiar with this type of table creativity, they will surely screw in something sudden and caustic.

While the guests are praising the birthday boy, you diligently fill in the words instead of the missing adjectives, and then read out the result loudly and with expression to the friendly laughter of the whole company.

Pick up one or two outdoor games on your birthday – for example, a small quest that can be arranged anywhere. Don’t make it too long, three to five steps will be enough.

Download the quest “Puzzles”

Download the quest “Pictures”

Download the quest “Riddles”

By the way, if you have enough courage, then try to make the main subject of the quest the key, which is closed to the banquet hall.

Good funny birthday contests are also obtained from the usual restrictions – playing with forks makes guests moan with laughter. To hold this contest, you need to take a few ordinary items (if you are organizing a game on your birthday, these can be especially durable gifts that cannot be scratched or broken) and two dinner forks, as well as a thick scarf. The hero of the occasion is blindfolded, given forks, with which he can touch this or that object, and offered to guess what is in front of him.

Children’s or teenage party? Fun competitions for teenagers will help to defuse the situation no worse than competitions for adults. Fun entertainment can be done with four bananas and a stool (a coffee table will do). The essence is simple – you need to get on all fours, and using only your teeth to clean and eat a banana for a while.

Good contests for young people should be fun and very funny. Competitions for teenagers can also be theatrical. Prepare several sets of props (ordinary household items in unexpected combinations – for example, a hairbrush, a burnt out light bulb and a chair cover in one set, and a mop, a soft toy and a bright plastic glass in another), and also prepare several titles of popular films, focus on your audience – it is better to take what is familiar to everyone.

The essence of the task is to act out a scene from a movie using props. The winners are determined by applause.

“Seated entertainment” at the table

But what if mobile competitions are not suitable for a feast? In this situation, it is better to pick up something neutral – the usual word games at the table like “crocodile” go very, very well.

In My Pants Game

Take pre-made or create your own birthday contests for adults – for example, you can use the idea of \u200b\u200bIn My Pants.

The name need not be declared. The guests sit at the table, each tells his neighbor on the right the name of the film that came to his mind. And he remembers what his neighbor will tell him.

And then the facilitator announces: Now each of you in turn will say the following aloud: “In my pants …” , and then the name of the movie that your neighbor told you.

All guests speak in turn. It will be funny if someone has “Office Romance” or “300 Spartans” in their pants.

I-games

Fun table contests can be based on anything. For example, there are several varieties of “I”-games. One is predominantly teenage – in it two players compete to see how many candies fit in their mouths, after each candy you need to more or less clearly pronounce any stupid phrase, for example, “I’m a fat-cheeked lip slapper.

The adult version of the game is slightly different – guests must introduce themselves (pronounce the word 9 with a serious and calm look0903 “I” ) in a circle until one of them gets confused or distracted (by the way, laughter is also considered a defeat), and the host invites other guests to give him a funny nickname.

After that, the fun begins, which unites all table contests like a chain reaction – it can be very difficult not to laugh, and after a couple of minutes everyone has a nickname that he introduces himself to (for example: “I am a furry pseudopod”, “I am a cheerful armpit ”, “I am a rosy-cheeked lip-slap”, etc.)

In the next round, the laugher is given a second nickname, and he must pronounce it in full (“I am a furry pseudopod – green Chingachgook”).

Usually this game ends on the fourth round because everyone is laughing! This competition is best done when the guests are already a little “on the fun”.

Ball of Destiny

Not only birthday contests are remembered by guests, but also the end of the evening. At any party, it would be appropriate to pay a little attention to the guests, for preparation you will need several balloons (according to the number of those present, plus a few in reserve), and notes with good rhyming wishes – when the invitees begin to disperse or you need to change their mood to a more positive one, invite the guests to choose their own balloon fate and burst it.

Collective readings of good wishes are usually accompanied by good-natured laughter and cheer up everyone.

Examples of wishes can be downloaded below, and then printed and cut out:

Over time, you will collect your own collection of cool birthday contests and, according to the mood of the guests, you will understand which contests for the holiday will go with a bang, and which are better to arrange in an easy drunk.

All-in-one ideas and tips

Save the all-in-one contests for the company so you can be sure to find something to do in any situation. If you are a novice presenter and do not have much experience, then it is better to have a separate notebook for board games and contests, as well as prepare props – for example, some games require sets of cards with recorded song or movie names.

As a rule, competitions for a drunk company are often very scurrilous, and this is understandable – adults become liberated when drunk.

Why I Came Here Game

Prepare entertainment that involves dancing or hugging, so guests can express their warm feelings in an appropriate way.

Game “I’ll tell you a secret”

An interesting entertainment for which you need to get a little prepared – “I’ll tell you a secret.” What is the essence of the game? Everything is very simple – each of the guests pulls out cards from a hat with a funny text prepared in advance in verse (here you have to try). All cards begin with the words “I’ll tell you a secret”, and then options are already possible, for example:

  • I’ll tell you a secret that I don’t wear underwear, if you’re in doubt, I’ll show you now;
  • I’ll tell you a secret, I’m on a diet, I eat only grass, I don’t look at meatballs.

If you’re looking for moving contests like the best dance or running around the chairs, make sure there is enough space around for people of all sizes to feel comfortable.

Do you prefer contests for a small company? It happens that you need contests for parties, but for sure there will not be too big a company, try to play something chamber and not requiring a lot of people. These can be text games and competitions for a small company, or verbal ones, for example:

  • Burime;
  • writing a fairy tale line by line;
  • forfeits.

Flipping Games

Ask the guests to guess the lines from the songs. Examples can be downloaded here:

or TV show titles:

The game Who We Really Are

Looking for fun birthday contests? Then karaoke contests for an adult company and a table game Who we really are have been invented especially for you. This is a card game, the guests take turns drawing cards and reading the quatrains printed on them – usually each is met with smiles and laughter.

But karaoke contests are a great kind of entertainment for a large group of adults, and the older you get, the more emotional the game is. It is necessary to select several participants, as well as to establish a jury (usually all the guests who gathered at the birthday table play its role).

And then the usual karaoke duel goes on, but each participant must not only perform a song, but also artistically present it – you can play imaginary instruments, use simple props and invite “spectators”. Good mood is guaranteed for everyone!

In general, if you need to celebrate a birthday at home, karaoke is a great way to entertain a motley company at the table. It often happens that elderly relatives and young people meet at a birthday party, and people who are simply not very familiar with each other – song games will help unite everyone, and over tea and cake you can play board games – fortunately, now there are enough of them.

If you decide to prepare interesting entertainment and games for a drunk company, then it is better to refrain from what can be perceived as offensive – unfortunately, people do not always separate the gaming genre from reality, especially if they are not sober, which often happens in the company of friends and friends on holidays. Choose the most neutral of your fun table contests, and have a fun gaming toast ready to help you change the subject in the event of the slightest negativity.

You shouldn’t stock up too many contests, a person who plays all evening gets tired, whether he is drunk or sober, but sometimes everyone will be happy to play between toasts and table conversations once or twice. The most interesting will be those competitions in which there was good preparation and organization – people love it when they are taken care of.

There are about fifty different fun games in my personal piggy bank, and I can’t say that this is a lot or a little – birthday contests for children are not used as games for a company of adults.

Now you have adult contests ready, and enough ideas to come up with your own birthday contest or any other holiday you want to make special!

Funny table games and birthday contests

Regardless of the reason for which a cheerful adult company gathered at the table – an anniversary or just a birthday, does not prevent the birthday person from preparing in advance. Of course, a good menu, suitable drinks, appropriate music are an important part of spending time together. But fun competitions for an adult company at the table or in nature will allow you to achieve a special effect.

The company can be both old friends and unfamiliar people. It is possible that informal communication is organized for people who generally see each other for the first time. It can be people of different ages – men and women, boys and girls. Whatever communication is supposed to have, having at least a conditional action plan, including competitions for young people, quizzes for adults, funny pranks and theatrical performances, means ensuring the success of any event!
So, contests for young people: students, schoolchildren, adults, young at heart!

  1. Cheerful competition at the table “Thoughts”

A musical selection is prepared in advance, where desires or funny statements are expressed in songs. For example, “I am a chocolate hare, I am an affectionate bastard …”, “And I am unmarried, someone really needs it ..”, “It’s great that we all gathered here today ..”, etc. The host simply approaches each guest and puts a magical hat on his head that can read minds.

  2. Carbon monoxide competition “Milk a Cow”

On a stick, a chair … (as you prefer), fix 1 ordinary medical glove for each participant in the competition, make tiny holes at the end of each finger and pour water into the glove. The task of the participants is to milk the glove.
Delight is indescribable both among the participants and the spectators. (Especially if no one saw how to milk a cow and the company drank a little). The mood will be provided through the roof!

  3. Guess the Animal Contest

It is necessary to prepare some photos of famous stars in advance. Only one person participates in the competition – the host. The host chooses a player from the audience, the player turns away, the host says – I show the audience a photo of the animal, and you ask leading questions, and we will all say yes or no. Everyone except the player sees the photo (in the photo, for example, Dima Bilan), everyone starts laughing, and the player thinks that this is a funny animal and starts asking carbon questions:
    – Does he have a lot of fat or not?
    – Does he have horns?

  4. Mobile competition for the company

Two large but equal teams participate. Each of the participants ties an inflated balloon of the color of their team with a thread to their leg. The thread can be any length, although the longer the better. Balls must be on the floor. On command, everyone begins to destroy the opponents’ balls, stepping on them, at the same time, preventing them from doing it with their own. The owner of the burst balloon steps aside and stops the battle. The winner is the team whose ball will be the last on the battlefield. Funny and not traumatic. Checked. By the way, each team can develop some kind of strategy and tactics of warfare. And the balls may not be of the same color in the team, but for a successful fight you need to know your partners well.

  5. Competition for the thirsty (can also be held in nature) -)

We need to take about 10 plastic glasses, fill them in front of the participants of the competition with various drinks (both tasty and deliberately “spoiled” with the addition of salt, pepper or something like this, but most importantly compatible with life). Glasses are stacked. Participants take turns throwing a ping-pong ball into glasses, and in which glass the ball hit, the contents of this glass are drunk.

  6. “Make a wish” contest

Participants collect one item of any kind, which are put into a bag. After that, one of the participants is blindfolded. The leader pulls out things in turn, and the blindfolded player comes up with a task for the owner of the pulled out thing. Tasks can be very different: dance, sing a song, crawl under the table and mumble, and so on.

  7. Anniversary competition “Fairy tales in a modern way”

Among the people invited to the birthday party, of course, there are representatives of various professions. Each of them is a professional in his field, and, of course, has a complete set of terms and specific vocabulary inherent in people of his profession. Why not make sure that instead of boring and uninteresting professional conversations, guests would not make each other laugh? This is done simply.
Participants are given pieces of paper and given tasks: to state the content of well-known fairy tales in professional language.
Imagine the fairy tale “Flint” written in the style of a police protocol or a psychiatric case history. And the “Scarlet Flower” in the form of a description of a tourist route?
The author of the funniest fairy tale wins.

  8. “Guess the picture” contest

The host shows the players a picture that is covered with a large sheet with a hole two to three centimeters in diameter in the middle. The facilitator moves the sheet around the picture. Participants must guess what is shown in the picture. Whoever guesses the fastest wins.

  9. Writing contest (fun)

The players sit in circles and everyone is given blank sheets of paper and pens. The facilitator asks the question: “Who?”. Players write the names of their heroes at the top of the sheet. After that, the sheet is folded so that what is written is not visible. After that, pass the sheet to the neighbor on the right. The host asks: “Where did you go?”. Everyone writes, folds the sheet and passes it to the neighbor on the right. Host: “Why did he go there?”…. And so on. After that, a joint fun reading begins

  10. Incendiary game “Let’s dance!?”

The preparation is simple: a neckerchief and a presenter responsible for musical accompaniment are selected. The main task of the presenter is to provide the competition with fast, incendiary melodies that can make the participants want to perform the most incendiary pas and pirouettes.

Everyone taking part in the entertainment stand in a large circle. The first dancer is chosen. This may be the hero of the occasion, if there is none, you can decide by lot or counting. The player stands in an impromptu circle, they tie a scarf around him, the music turns on, and everyone dances. Having made several or many movements, the dancer must transfer his attribute to another person standing in a circle. The scarf must be tied around the neck in a knot, and even kiss the “heir”. The new dancer takes the place of the previous one and performs his steps. The dance continues as long as the musical accompaniment lasts. When the leader turns it off, the remaining dancer in the circle is caught off guard and forced to yell something like “co-ka-re-ku.” The more unexpectedly the music stops, the more fun it will be for those present.

  11. “Dress Each Other” Competition

This is a team game. Participants are divided into pairs.
Each couple chooses a pre-prepared bag containing a set of clothes (it is necessary that the number and complexity of items be the same). All participants in the game are blindfolded. On command, one of the couple must feel the clothes on the other from the bag he got in one minute. The winner is the pair that “dresses” faster and more correctly than the others. It’s fun when two men are in a couple and they get a bag with purely women’s clothing!

  12. Boar Hunting Competition

For the game you will need several teams of “hunters” consisting of 3 people and one “boar”. “Hunters” are given cartridges (it can be any pieces of paper) after which they try to get into the “boar”. The target can be a circle of cardboard on which the target is drawn. This circle with a target is attached to the “boar” on the belt in the lumbar region. The task of the “boar” is to run away and dodge, and the task of the “hunters” is to hit this very target.
A certain time during which the game is in progress is detected. It is desirable to limit the space for the game so that the game does not turn into a real hunt. The game must be played in a sober state. It is forbidden to hold the “boar” by the teams of “hunters”.

  13. Greedies

There are many balls scattered on the floor.
Those who wish are called. And on command, to fast music, each of the participants must take and hold as many balls as possible.

  14. Try and Guess Competition

Competitor stuffs a huge piece of bun into his mouth in such a way that it is impossible to speak. After that, he receives the text that needs to be read. The participant tries to read it with expression (it is desirable that it be an unfamiliar verse). The other participant needs to write down everything that he understood, and then read aloud what happened. As a result, its text is compared with the original. Instead of a bun, you can use another product with which it is difficult to pronounce words.

  15. Break the Obstacle Competition

Two couples are invited to the stage. Chairs are placed, a rope is pulled between them. The task of the guys is to pick up the girl and step over the rope. After the first pair does this, the second pair does the same. Next, you need to raise the rope and repeat the task again. The rope will rise until one of the pairs completes the task. As it has already become clear, the pair that fell before the other pair loses.

  16. Potato Contest

2 players and two empty packs of cigarettes are required to participate in the contest. Ropes are tied to the players’ belts, at the end of which potatoes are tied. The essence of the competition is to quickly push the empty pack to the finish line with this very potato, which hangs at the end of the rope. Whoever gets to the finish line first wins.

  17. “Clothespins” competition

Couples come into the spotlight. All participants attach 10-15 clothespins to their clothes. Then everyone is blindfolded and fast music is turned on. It is necessary for everyone to remove the largest number of clothespins from their rivals.

  18. Competition “Who is faster?”

Two teams are recruited, five people each. A pot of water is placed in front of each team, the water in both pots is at the same level. Which team will quickly drink water from the pots with the help of spoons, that team won.

  19. Competition “Diver”

Those wishing to take part in this competition are invited to overcome a given distance by putting on fins and looking from the back through binoculars.

  20. Competition “Associations”

Participants of the game stand in a row or (everyone sits in a line, the main thing is to make it clear where the beginning and where the end is). The first utters two completely unrelated 2 words. For example: tree and computer. The next player must link the unlinkable and describe a situation that could happen with these two items. For example, “The wife is tired of her husband constantly sitting at the computer, and he settled with him on a tree. ” Then the same player pronounces the next word, for example “Bed” The third participant must add this word to this situation, for example “Sleeping on a branch has become not as comfortable as on a bed.” And so on, as long as there is enough imagination. You can complicate the game and add the following. The facilitator interrupts one of the participants and asks to repeat all the words spoken, the one who fails to do this is eliminated from the game.

  21. Competition “How to use?”

The contest requires 5-15 people. Any object is placed on the table in front of the players. Participants should take turns talking about how the item is used. The use of the item must theoretically be correct. Anyone who could not come up with a use for the subject is out of the game. The one who remains last in the game is the winner.

You can complicate the contests and make them more creative, creative. Be joyful not only on holidays. Give laughter and smiles to friends, family and loved ones.

Games and contests for children’s birthday

Home Blog Games and contests for children’s birthday

The happiest days in a parent’s life are those that are unforgettable. These include, first of all, the birthday of their child. However, the older the child, the more difficult it is to prepare a good holiday for him. Usually preparing for a party is troublesome, but at the same time pleasant.
Choose a gift for the hero of the occasion, create beautiful and bright invitations for his friends, buy a cake with candles or make it yourself, hang balloons everywhere, choose games, entertainment for the child and his comrades . .. And, perhaps, this is not the whole list. And the most ambitious task among all this is the preparation of competitions.

How to prepare competitions for children’s name days?

When choosing contests for children for birthdays , , first of all, you should take into account the age of the birthday person and friends invited to the celebration. This is understandable, because it makes no sense to take games for 5-year-olds when a 10-year-old child has a birthday. Contests should be interesting for the baby, so that at the end of a busy day of celebration he will have only pleasant impressions.
By the way, you don’t have to come up with contests yourself. And why do it at all, when everything is already there. It is enough just to make a selection of those games that the child and his friends will definitely like, creating a so-called entertainment program that provides for participation alone and in teams. You can not think about this at all, but simply invite a good animator.
A cheerful adult presenter will be able to organize a children’s party so that it would be fun for each of its participants, from the birthday boy to all his guests. Moreover, the celebration can be either thematic (cosmetic, pirate theme, etc.) or ordinary.

Birthday contests for preschool children

If we talk about games for preschool children, then the most suitable ones are those that include competitions. Therefore, it is worth giving preference to those entertainments where you need to divide into teams. They are very exciting for the child, give him vivid emotions and allow him to expend a large amount of energy.

It is possible, for example, to include the “Deed in the Hat” contest in the program.

  • Children need to stand in a circle, and then the leader puts a hat on one of them.
  • When the music begins to play, the participant in the hat needs to turn around and place the props with his hand on the head of his neighbor.
  • This is how the transmission is carried out in a circle.
  • At times the music stops playing.
  • As soon as this happens, the person with the hat on his head is eliminated from the competition.
  • It is not necessary to use a hat for the competition.
  • Other props are also suitable, such as a ball.
  • The use of a small chair is also allowed, but then the children will alternately sit on it and pass it to the next participant.
  • Let the game not be divided into teams, but still exciting.

Name-day entertainment for children from 6 to 10 years old

A child of this age and his friends will find entertainment that requires effort. Moreover, it does not matter: whether it is necessary to think over any logical problem well or apply physical force – everything will be of great interest. They no longer like simple games, because they want to be recognized as adults and able to cope with tasks of any complexity.

One of the suitable competitions is the “Word Duel”.

  1. The facilitator preliminarily creates cards where the words are written “topsy-turvy”, that is, confused.
  2. Participants are divided into 2 teams (more can be done).
  3. Team captains are given the right to put their hand into the container and pull out the card.
  4. Then each group has to decipher their word.
  5. Who will cope faster, he won.

Children’s birthday contests for teenagers

Teenagers are the most active people. Often people believe that to organize a holiday for their already more or less adult son or daughter, a good table with a variety of dishes and a special place where you can dance to your favorite music will be enough. However, this opinion is erroneous.

A teenager, like a younger child, loves competitions and does not mind taking part in them alone or in a team. True, something youthful, cheerful and, if possible, mobile should be selected.

You can, for example, include the “Try to Hit” contest in the program.

  • Within its framework, one participant, taking a stick with an inflated balloon tied to it, stands at the far side of the room, while the second participant is located at the opposite end of the room, taking a dart with him.
  • The first participant drives a stick with a ball so that it is constantly in motion, and the second must try to throw the “tool” so as to hit the target and burst it.
  • In case of hit, the child receives a prize.
  • If it was not possible to burst the balloon, you will have to grant the wish.

Popular birthday games

The interesting contest “Smart Monkeys” is very popular.

  • Participants in this case can be arbitrarily, but not less than 2.
  • First, everyone humbly sits on chairs or sofas and humbly listens to the facilitator’s story, aimed at making the participants imbued with the atmosphere of the tropical forests, where many monkeys live.
  • He then introduces the participants as the most agile monkeys in the pack.
  • After that, each of them is given a chair with a banana on it.
  • The point is to clean it and eat it faster than your opponents without using your hands.

“Eskimo blind man’s buffs” are also often seen at children’s parties.

  1. To begin with, the host chooses one of the participants as the driver and puts thicker mittens on his hands, and also blindfolds.
  2. Further, other players come up to this participant in turn, and he must understand by touch who exactly is in front of him.
  3. If the identification of the participant was successful, then he becomes the next driver.

Well, how not to remember the “Broken phone”.

  • Participants put chairs in a circle, sit down.
  • It all starts with the leader whispering a word or phrase to one of the participants.
  • He, in turn, must repeat what he heard, also in a whisper in the ear of his neighbor, and so on in a chain.
  • When the last player receives the information, he must say out loud what he heard, and then it is compared with the original phrase.
  • After that, the host sits at the end of the chain, and now the next player comes up with a phrase.

Mind games

We ate, danced, and now it’s time to think. In this regard, intellectual games prepared for the birthday will help.

  • These may include, for example, puzzles with matches, in which you need to rearrange a certain number of matches to get the correct example or a picture that has a different meaning (a number has turned into a letter, an arrow has changed direction, etc.). This is a great option for team competition.

You can also use flip pictures.

  • These are images that, if turned upside down, their meaning changes dramatically. You can show the children from one angle, and then ask them to think about what would be shown in the picture if it was turned upside down. You can simply cut the image into pieces, divide the children into teams, and ask each to collect it.

Board games

Board games are something that can really captivate not only children of all ages, but also adults. It is enough just to start the game, and the time behind it will pass unnoticed. And every minute of the gaming session will be filled with joy and fun.

There is a huge range of tabletop entertainment for all tastes. And yet one of the most popular and to this day is Monopoly – a kind of economic simulator. Those games that are made based on famous games, films, cartoons are also constantly famous.

Outdoor games

This type of games is suitable for the audience that does not like to sit on chairs for a long time, but prefers to stretch their muscles. They are especially popular among teenagers as they usually have a lot of energy.

If you want birthday games for kids to be moving, you should take care of the fun in advance and buy, for example, “Twister”.

  • It consists of two elements: a rug with colored circles and a special tape measure with sectors with different limbs and colors.
  • The presenter rotates the roulette sequentially for each of the participants, and they, in turn, must place the indicated part of the body exactly on the circle of the color that fell out. Moreover, 2 limbs cannot be located on the same circle at once.
  • You can also play balloon volleyball.
  • For this entertainment, the players must be divided into 2 teams.
  • After measuring a distance of 1 meter, place one chair opposite each other.
  • Players must sit on them.
  • The floor is divided in the middle with a rope.
  • Next, the children play volleyball.
  • It is important that the ball flew over the rope.
  • When beating it, you can not get up from the chair or take the props in your hands.
  • Only repulsion of the ball is allowed.
  • The team receives a point if the ball falls on the opponent’s territory.
  • The game is suitable for children 4-12 years old.

Joint competitions for children and adults

Who said that only children can participate in competitions? Nothing like that: you can play together. There are many interesting entertainments that are equally well suited for both children and adults. Most importantly, it’s great to have fun with friends.

For example, you can play Firemen.

  • For this you will need 2 jackets and 2 chairs.
  • Turn the sleeves inside out and hang them on the backrests.
  • Place a rope at least 2 meters long under the chairs.
  • Both competitors must position themselves next to their chairs.
  • As soon as the presenter gives the signal, they should grab the jackets with their hands, turn the sleeves back, put on and fasten all the buttons.
  • Having finished with clothes, you should run around the opponent’s chair and sit on your own, and at the end pull the rope.
  • Whoever does all this first wins.
  • Players may wear other clothing such as shirts.

As you can see, there are enough different competitions and games, and you can participate in them both alone and in the company of friends.

Birthday contests (12-14 years old) | Holiday again!

Once I wrote down the birthday of my daughter (12 years old), on which we did without competitions. But… There were so many requests for help in organizing the holiday in the comments that I went around the Internet three times in search of games and entertainment that would not be very childish and did not require the presence of an adult presenter.

The task, I tell you, is very difficult. There are funny contests, but those that are too early to hold in adolescence, and they can cheer up only tipsy guests. It doesn’t suit us. ..

Getting Started

The Again Holiday website contains a lot of ready-made free scenarios. These are not only selections of competitions, but also full-fledged home quests and creative programs (culinary, photo parties, etc.)

I recommend to look at “All ideas by age and about” (this is a handy table of contents with links to detailed articles).

Birthday party 12-14 years old, simple and fun competitions

Tasks can be done by the birthday person after a short preparation. If you start reading all this during the holiday, nothing will work.

Fun contests with easy-to-find items

It’s easier to watch the video here, everything is clear without a description:

Golden Goose

magic goose). Guests need to be put in a circle and asked to name some part of the body: “right knee”, “left heel”, “nose”, “chin”, “back”, “nape”. After that, at the expense of THREE, you need to stick to the neighbor on the right with this particular part. The place of gluing does not matter, as long as it does not fall.

This is how everyone should shout “Congratulations!” three times. A fun start to the holiday, helps to quickly liberate.

Fun photo session with photo props on sticks

I like this activity because the photos always turn out funny, and people pose much more artistically.

Fake mustaches, beards and crowns help a lot. There are sets in which from 4 to 30 items, choose!

Obstacle dance

First stage. We stretch one rope at a height of 1 meter, and the other at a height of 50 cm from the floor. You can move a little, not one above the other. As a rule, there is nowhere to tie in the apartment, you have to hold the ends of the upper and lower ropes in your right and left hands.

Now we turn on dance music (fast latin is better) and ask the bottom rope to step over, and crawl under the top one. If there are few guests, several dance circles.

Second stage. We tightly blindfold two participants, asking them to overcome obstacles. We quietly remove the ropes … it remains to observe the efforts of careful dancers.

A frozen artist

Presenter: “We need two people who can draw well.” He gives them each a felt-tip pen: “Only today you won’t need it, I’ll bewitch you. Imagine that there is an invisible sheet of paper in front of you, prepare a felt-tip pen and … freeze!

We call the other two participants, to whom we give a landscape sheet (it is better to attach it to a solid base). The point is that the artists with felt-tip pens stand still, and their assistants move the sheet along the tip of the felt-tip pen, trying to capture a drawing that everyone understands. It can be a portrait of a birthday person, a birthday cake with candles, just a house with a tree and the sun. Everything is fun, try it!

Siamese twins

On the cards you need to write some part of the body, call all the guests and make them in pairs. Each couple draws a card and sticks it with the part of the body that fell out to them, like Siamese twins. Noses, heels, nape, elbows, knees, backs. Now you need to tie a handkerchief to each other. Let one couple do it, the rest just watch. The one with the most difficult situation wins. Try to put a handkerchief on the “twin” if you are glued with your backs …

What were you doing there?

The game is equally fun for both children and adults, since it is difficult to come up with something more fun than random coincidences of questions and answers.

We write on the plates: “Dentist’s Office”, “Director’s Office”, “Toilet”, “Bathhouse”, “Bakery”, “Cinema”, “Post Office”, “Park”, “Zoo”, “Theatre” , “Barbershop”, “Basement”, “Construction”, “Kindergarten”, “Pension Fund”, “Desert Island”, “Fitness Club”.

The player stands with his back to the guests, the host puts a sign with one of these inscriptions on his back. The guests know what they are talking about, and the “lucky one” answers at random. Players can be changed. Here is a sample list of questions (you cannot answer yes or no):

  • Do you often go there? (Every Friday, three times a week, rarely but with pleasure)
  • Do you like this place? (It can be better, I still don’t understand exactly)
  • With whom do you usually go there?
  • Which famous person would you like to meet there?
  • What do you usually take with you there? Name three things.
  • What do you usually do there?
  • Why did you choose this place?

Change sign and player. It’s fun when they go to kindergarten once a month with Alla Pugacheva, take a laptop and a toothbrush with them, do ballet there or eat pizza) &

Downed pilots

I once held this game on February 23 at school, but all the spectators were so carried away that I boldly propose to organize it at a birthday party. Oddly enough, it’s fun.

We make 5-6 paper airplanes, and put 20 pieces of paper lumps in a basket. One person launches airplanes (choose the longest side in the room), everyone else tries to shoot down flying airplanes. If this is a competition to determine the winner, we give 5 attempts to each.

Defile

Can be held at the moment when you want to invite guests to the table. Build them against the opposite wall and solemnly announce (there is no need to distribute roles in advance): “They arrived at the gala dinner: a famous yogi, a dancer from the east, Baba Yaga, a fairy Princess, an ogre, a Shusher rat, a ballerina from the Bolshoi Theater, a one-legged Pirate, the President of Russia , bodybuilding champion, famous supermodel (actress), baby who learned to walk today.

All guests need to walk a few steps in character and sit down at the table.

Unlucky Sculptor

The name of the competition is not necessary to inform anyone in advance, otherwise the meaning will become clear, and we do not need this. All guests must go to another room, only the leader and three players remain. You appoint one sculptor and ask him to put the other two in the most uncomfortable positions. For example, let the first one freeze, pushing himself off the floor in the top position, and the second one will sit on his back, clasping his hands behind him in the castle. And now the presenter changes the one who has the hardest time in the new sculpture to the sculptor himself. Since he himself came up with torture for others, take the rap :-).

You can now start one new player from another room. Now it’s the sculptor who must examine the previous strange statue and create his new one, again coming up with complex poses. We repeat everything, the sculptor takes the place of the victim himself. It’s always funny, try it! Naturally, all other guests enter one by one and remain in the room until the end of the game.

Snowman

Line up several people (4-6) one after the other, side by side with the guests. Show the last player a simple drawing of a snowman and ask them to draw THIS on the previous player’s back. He is trying to understand what he was depicted, draws on his back what he understood (silently). So we reach the first in this line, which should depict the original drawing on clean paper. Usually a snowman turns into a face :-). The rest of the details are lost along the way.

Guess what’s in your hands

Thanks to the strangeness of the manufacturers of soft toys, this competition is funny. We blindfold the player and offer to guess what he is holding in his hands. For example, when we offered to identify a snake in a Santa Claus hat with a bag for gifts, the girl said that it was a snail. Guests are always surprised that they failed to guess such an obvious little animal. It’s funnier if a person comments on his guesses aloud.

What would the Indians call you

This is not a contest, just an excuse to laugh at the table while eating cake. I found a picture on the Internet, I laughed myself. These are funny names that the Indians might give you. The first column is the first letter of the name, the second column is the first letter of the last name. I, Irina Panasyan, would be called Playful Pelican…

Verbal shifters

Solving shifters is fun. I remind you that this is:

Milk boils over standing sand (which means – Under a lying stone, water does not flow).

There are a lot of ready-made selections with changelings on the Internet, you need to look at what phrases the guests are familiar with.

Upside Down Pictures

Print out these pictures and cut them up so the answer is not so obvious. In principle, you can close the half with a sheet of paper right on the monitor. First, show the first one: “You see, here a huge crow grabbed a little man with its beak. Guess what you will see if you flip the picture. The correct answer is: “A man in a boat near the island, to which a huge fish swam.” There is a lot of this on the site that I give!

Puzzles

Again I will give a link to my favorite site with puzzles. Everything is very clear, with answers. For example, here are interesting puzzles with matches:

Move 3 matches so that the arrow points in the other direction. There are answers to all mysteries!

I advise you to buy fireplace (long) matches. In a company, it’s clearer.

Q&A

It’s absolutely win-win entertainment. Tested on thousands of children’s and adult holidays. I found a site that has selected questions and answers that are relatively suitable for a 12-14 year old birthday.

This is how it should be done. Questions are enough to have only the leader, you can read in a row. But the answers need to be printed on separate sheets of paper and invite guests to pull out a piece of paper at random: “Do you brush your teeth?” — “Yes, I have many talents…”

Draw 3D

Now even among adults creative master classes are popular, so let’s not lag behind. I like that this particular drawing is ALWAYS obtained by EVERYONE, but it looks very impressive. What do you need? Album sheets for each person, a simple pencil, felt-tip pens and 5-7 minutes of time.

Put the left hand on the sheet and trace with a pencil along the contour. Now we take a felt-tip pen of any color and draw parallel lines at a distance of 1 cm from each other. From the edge of the paper, just a straight line, and where the outline of the hand begins, you need to draw an arc. After the contour of the hand, we continue the straight line. From the picture, I think everything is clear. It turns out a real 3D drawing! I think it’s great!

With felt-tip pens of other colors we repeat the curves of the first lines, this is already quite simple. If you put a date on the picture and hang it in a frame, you will remember for a long time how well you had a good time with your friends on your birthday.

What else is on this site…

[list][item icon=”fa-star” ]There are great quest scenarios: “The Mystery of the Underground Bunker”, “Treasures of the Egyptian Princess” and “The Lost World”, which you can arrange for your guests.
