How to choose a kettle
Given how regularly our kettles get used, it’s worth thinking about what features you want and those that you can pass by. Here are the key things you need to consider:
Design
There are two main types of kettle: jug and dome. Jug kettles are taller, tend to have handles located on the side and will generally hold a larger volume of water.
Dome-shaped kettles look more like traditional stovetop models. Electric dome kettles often have lift-off lids, which can be a bit more fiddly than flip-top models to use, and these kettles usually have a smaller water capacity. Their handles are often located on top, too.
Speed
A power element of 3kW is generally considered best for fast boiling and all of our top-scoring kettles have this wattage.
Noise
Kettles with a higher wattage tend to be noisier – we test the noise using a microphone and a decibel metre, so that if any are particularly loud or quiet, we can tell you this in our reviews.
Capacity
Typically kettles can hold between 1.5 and 1.7 litres of water. An average cup of tea is 250ml, so you should be able to boil enough for 6-7 cups at a time. If you’re just putting on the kettle for one cup of tea, it’s worth checking the minimum capacity your kettle can boil. Most models have a minimum level clearly marked.
Kettle features to consider
There are finer details to think about too, which can make a real difference when you’re using your kettle day in, day out:
Water level indicator
Most kettles have this clearly visible on the exterior but some are more awkwardly placed, such as behind the handle. Kettles with large viewing windows are best if you want to know exactly how much water is in the kettle at any time.
Variable temperature
Variable temperature kettles can heat the water to different temperatures to provide the best results when brewing different types of tea and coffee. It’s a handy feature if you like to drink more delicate herbal and green teas, which should be brewed below boiling, at around 80C.
Smart features
Some kettles have additional smart features, such as allowing you to set the kettle to boil or check the water temperature from an app on your phone. Other smart features include pre-programmed temperature buttons for different hot drinks and a “keep warm” setting to retain the water temperature for a certain amount of time.
Weight
For every millilitre of water you add to your kettle, an extra gram is added to its overall weight, meaning they can get quite heavy. If lifting may be an issue, look for a model that weighs no more than a kilogram when empty.
Grip
It’s also worth checking the position and shape of the handle, which may affect the balance when pouring and filling. Some handles have a soft, rubberised area for extra grip, too.
Filters
Most kettles have removable, washable anti-scale water filters that sit at the base of the spout. These collect pieces of limescale from the water to prevent them from being poured into your drink, and they stop scum forming on the surface, making them a must for hard water areas.
Boil dry protection
With this feature, the kettle automatically switches off if there isn’t enough water inside. This reduces the risk of it burning dry and causing damage. It’s equally important to check the water gauge to make sure your kettle hasn’t been overfilled, which could boil over and become a safety hazard.
360-degree base
You’ll find the majority of kettles on the market have a pirouette connector centre, which simply means you can place the kettle on the base to face in the direction most convenient for you. All of the kettles in our top 12 have this feature. Some bases also have an additional cable storage feature underneath, for tucking away any excess cord.
Safety
The external casing of some kettles can get extremely hot. Often, those with a brushed stainless steel exterior reach hotter temperatures than other materials – not ideal if you have young children in the kitchen. Kettles with an auto shut-off feature will automatically stop when water begins to boil or if the kettle is lifted from its base.
Energy efficiency
Keep an eye out for “quick boil”, “one cup” or eco-friendly kettles. These can produce a cup’s worth of boiling water in less than a minute and use up to 50% less energy. Kettles with auto shut-off features also help to prevent too much electricity being wasted and the kettle boiling dry.
How we test kettles
Kettle testing at the Good Housekeeping Institute is thirsty work, but our tests involve more than just sipping hot drinks all day.
We check the accuracy of filling each kettle from a tap and the pouring precision into a hot water bottle, checking for splashing and spillages. Next, we monitor how long it takes to boil each kettle at different capacities. We also check the temperature of the external casing of the handle when water is freshly boiled – some kettles get extremely hot and extra care needs to be taken when picking up to pour.
We look at how easy the kettle is to use based on how clear the water level gauge is to see, if the filter is easy to remove for cleaning and refit, and how comfortable the kettle is to hold. The overall design is also taken into account, as well as how clear and concise the instructions are.

How to choose the best kettle for your kitchen
Unsure what to look for when choosing your kettle? We’ve summarised the main features you should consider:
Classic or multifunction
If you just want a kettle that boils water, you’re spoilt for choice. If you’re a lover of fine teas, some of which brew better at lower temperatures, you might want one which enables you to select the temperature. This option can also suit parents making hot drinks for children. Some kettles also have a ‘keep warm’ function, which is useful if you don’t all want your tea at the same time.
Style
Classic, old-fashioned, shaker, trendy, futuristic – there’s a kettle for you whatever type of kitchen you have. While most modern kettles are jug-style, taking up less space on the worktop, there are plenty of pyramid kettles on the market if you prefer one of those. All the kettles we tested sat on a base that plugged into the mains, and all had auto-switch off.
Lid
Flick up or pull off? If you like to operate your kettle with one hand, you might prefer one where you just press a button to lift the lid. Some people would rather have one where the lid comes off completely.
Speed
If you want a quick break from work, you might appreciate a kettle that is a minute or so quicker.
Noise
Some people want their kettle to be as unobtrusive as possible, and certainly not loud enough to drown out the radio or music. But if you like to flick on the kettle, then go off into a different room while it boils, you might like one that’s a bit louder, so you can hear when it clicks off.
Price
You might be surprised at how cheap – or expensive – a kettle can be. Our samples range from £22.99 to £149.
Best kettles for hard water
In areas of hard water, there’s usually a faster build-up of limescale inside kettles, particularly around the element. To avoid getting limescale in your tea, you want a kettle that has a robust and finely meshed filter inside the spout that’s also easy to remove.
The best kettles to buy in 2022
Cuisinart multi-temp jug kettle
-
01,"sid":"post-bbcgoodfood-307191-its-txt-pos"}” data-text=”<b>Available</b> from {merchant} ({price}), {merchant} ({price}) and {merchant} ({price})” data-item-name=”Cuisinart Multi-Temp Jug Kettle” data-feature=”monetizer” data-feature-variant=”monetizer_inText”/>
Best multi-temp kettle
Pros:
- Very quick
- Sleek-looking kettle
Cons:
- Easy to press button by accident
Wattage: 3000W
Good looking, fast boiling and complete with different temperature options, this kettle ticks a lot of boxes. All the controls are in the handle, which is unusual for a multi-temperature kettle. This gives it a smaller footprint than others, which tend to sit on bases and consequently take up more space on the worktop. Adding to the streamlined look, you press the ‘on’ button in the handle, rather than flicking a switch. Read our full Cuisinart multi-temp jug kettle review.
Breville Edge still hot kettle
Most innovative eco functions
Pros:
- Eco-friendly reminder not to reboil
- Good value
- Quick
Cons:
- Lid a little fiddly on occasion
Wattage: 3000W
We all know that we don’t need to re-boil the kettle when a family member who initially turns down a cuppa decides five minutes later that they want one after all – but we tend to anyway.
This kettle’s USP is its visual reminder that the water is still hot enough. The water indicator starts to turn red as it boils and stays that way until the water falls below 80C. This will hopefully encourage users not to boil the kettle when they don’t need to, reducing the amount of power they use. Read our full Breville Edge still hot kettle review.
Kenwood Elegancy kettle
Best lightweight kettle
Pros:
- Light and quick
Cons:
- The look and feel of the plastic isn’t for everyone
Wattage: 3000W
Not everyone wants the latest shiny, multi-function kettle – sometimes simple is best. This is a more traditional kettle in terms of features. It’s lightweight, making it ideal for anyone who would struggle to grip heavy kettles. It has a pull-off lid rather than a flip-up one, giving it a wide opening.
This comes in a choice of colourways, with matching toasters available too.
The wide spout makes pouring quick and smooth and the kettle boiled quietly. It’s pretty speedy too, averaging around 2:07 for a litre. Read our full Kenwood elegancy kettle review.
Zwilling Enfinigy kettle pro
Best for parents
Pros:
- Good functions
- Minimalist look
- Reassuring guarantee
Cons:
- Slower than most
Wattage: 1850W
‘Unusual’ is the best word to describe this kettle. It has features that we didn’t find anywhere else, including a baby bottle heating function. The detailed instruction booklet even shows you how to sterilise a bottle in the kettle, which could be useful for parents who are going away and don’t want to lug a steriliser with them.
More like this
This is a multi-temperature kettle: you can select from 60, 70, 80, a very precise “coffee” (93 degrees) and 100 degrees. There’s also a useful “keep warm” function.
Out of the box, it takes it bit of getting used to. The selected temperature starts to flash and the temperatures on the control panel light up in turn as that temperature is reached. Three quiet beeps alert you when it’s finished, although it was one of our slowest kettles to boil in our test.
It comes with a 5-year guarantee.

Breville high gloss electric kettle
-
01,"sid":"post-bbcgoodfood-307191-its-txt-pos"}” data-text=”<b>Available</b> from {merchant} ({price}), {merchant} ({price}) and {merchant} ({price})” data-item-name=”Breville high gloss kettle” data-feature=”monetizer” data-feature-variant=”monetizer_inText”/>
Best value mid-range kettle
Pros:
- Fast
- Well-priced
Cons:
- Only 1 year guarantee
Wattage: 3000W
We scored this one highly in the mid-budget range as it has everything you could want in a non-variable temperature kettle. It’s noticeably sleek and modern looking, its grey exterior complemented by a stainless steel mesh effect trim near the bottom. The angled handle is in a contrasting black, and the ‘on’ switch is pleasingly chunky. We also liked the feel of the textured lid button, which sits in the handle, and the short, wide spout which makes for a smooth and easy pour. Read our full Breville high gloss electric kettle review.
Sage the compact kettle pure
Best for small kitchens
Pros:
- Unusual, stylish design
- Very light
Cons:
- Not ideal for those in hard water areas
- Slower than average
Wattage: 2400W
Smaller than the average kettle with a capacity of one litre, this is ideal for couples or single person households – or anyone who would prefer smaller, lighter kettle. It’s a real eye-catcher as the unusual glass jug means you can watch your kettle as it boils. Of course, being transparent means it’s also easy to see how much water you’re boiling – and if you need extra help, there’s also an indicator (in cups) on the side of the kettle. This can all help cut water usage. Read our full Sage the Compact Kettle pure review.
Bosch Styline kettle
Best value multi-temperature kettle
Pros:
- Well-priced
- Fast
- Lots of features
Cons:
- Bigger and heavier than others
Wattage: 3000W
Multi-temperature kettles tend to be priced at the premium end of the market, so we thought this popular model was particularly well priced.
The Styline has all the bells and whistles – four temperature points (70, 80, 90 and 100C) as well as a keep-warm function, designed to keep the water hot for up to half an hour. The casing on it is designed to keep the kettle cool to the touch. Read our full Bosch Styline kettle review.
Russell Hobbs structure kettle
Best for a single cup
Pros:
- Fast
- Striking
Cons:
- Design won’t appeal to everyone
Wattage: 3000W
The striking kettle has a geometric design and is one of the funkier ones we tested. This model is made of a mix of plastic and stainless steel and the angular pull-off lid echoes the rest of the design.
The on switch is chunky, with the end lighting up in stylish blue. The base makes it equally suitable for both left and right handers. Read our full Russell Hobbs Structure kettle review.
Morphy Richards hive kettle
Pros:
- Innovative lid
Cons:
- Water markings hard to see
Wattage: 3000W
Echoing it’s name, the Hive has a honeycomb pattern. The kettle comes in four colourways – grey, white, cream and black – and there are matching toasters too. There’s a transparent switch with a white light that shows when the kettle is working.
This kettle stands out for it’s unique ‘easy fill system’ with a specially designed lid with a hole in so you can pour water in directly. This does make filling particularly easy and quick. And no, water doesn’t spurt out when you’re boiling it, even if you fill it to the max like we did. Read our full Morphy Richards Hive kettle review.
Dualit Classic Kettle
Best investment kettle
Pros:
- Attractive
Cons:
- Expensive
- Might be too heavy for some
Wattage: 2300W
This big, solid kettle makes a real statement on your worktop. The polished stainless steel kettle comes in a choice of trims including brass, copper and evergreen, to complement your kitchen. It’s thoughtfully designed, with two water level windows – one in cups and one in litres. We also liked that the red ‘on’ light is on the kettle itself, rather than the switch, making it easier to see at a glance. Read our full Dualit classic kettle review.
Bosch silicone kettle
Best stainless steel kettle
Pros:
- Attractive
- Fast boiling
Cons:
- Pricey
Wattage: 3000W
Perched on an unusual square base, and with a silicone coat, this eye-catching kettle would look great in contemporary kitchens. The base, main body and lid are stainless steel, and the kettle has a grey ribbed covering, a black handle and a contrasting red ‘on’ switch.
The Bosch Silicone kettle performed well in the speed trials, boiling a litre in an impressive average of 2.08 seconds. It has a pleasantly smooth pour too.
Features are well thought-out – the 360 degree base means the kettle is easy to pick up for both right and left handers. The power cord is stored in the base and there’s a removable filter. You press a button to flip up the lid and can push it back a little further to make it easier to fill if you want to. Read our full Bosch Silicone kettle review.

-
5l kettle” data-feature=”monetizer” data-feature-variant=”monetizer_inText”/>
Best overall kettle
Pros:
- Attractive
- Heavy
Cons:
- Heavy
- Expensive
Star rating: 5/5

Tefal Loft kettle
Best traditional kettle
Pros:
- Wide opening lid
- Quick to boil
Cons:
- Subtle ‘on’ light
Star rating: 4. 5/5
Wattage: 3000W
This lightweight Tefal Loft (KO250840) is a good mid-range option. We particularly like the wide pull-off lid, which comes off easily and gives a good space for filling. It’s pleasingly speedy, boiling at an average of 2 minutes 14 seconds, though it is a little on the noisy side. Read our full Tefal Loft kettle review.
iKettle
- Available from Storam (£129)
Best for tech lovers
Pros:
- Controlled from anywhere
Cons:
- Simple design
Star rating: 4/5
Wattage: 3000W
The iKettle works via an app, and you can set it to come on from wherever you are. Perhaps surprisingly, this is one of the least-flashy kettles we tested. The kettle itself is rather minimalist in looks. The kettle has an ergonomic handle, with only the top attached to the kettle. It’s comfortable to lift and easy to open, and has a wide opening for easy filling and a small spout for precision pouring. The iKettle was one of the speediest we tested too, boiling water in an average of 2 minutes 14 seconds. Read our full iKettle review.

Most fun kettle
Pros:
- Quiet
- Speedy
Cons:
- Large footprint
- Pricey
Star rating: 4.5/5
Wattage: 3000W
This kettle is a traditional pyramid shape with a bright, modern polka dot pattern (it’s also available in a pink heart design). It’s eye-catching, cheerful and stylish, and one that visitors are bound to comment on. As well as scoring highly in looks, the kettle oozes quality. In terms of performance, the kettle is no slouch either, boiling a litre of water in 2 minutes 16 seconds. Read our full Russell Hobbs Emma Bridgewater kettle review.
Morphy Richards Verve kettle
Best mid-range kettle
Pros:
- Quiet
- Quick
Cons:
- Not the most stylish kettle
Star rating: 4. 5 /5
Wattage: 3000W
The Verve kettle is no-nonsense and effective. It’s quiet, efficient and well-priced. It’s a solid-feeling model with a chunky, robust handle and ‘on’ switch. The Verve is averagely speedy, boiling at around 2 minutes 23 seconds for a litre – and it isn’t one of the noisier models either. Holding 1.7 litres of water, it’s ideal for a bigger family, and there’s a matching toaster available, too. Read our full Morphy Richards Verve kettle review.
Smeg KLF04 kettle
Best variable temperature kettle
Pros:
- Stylish
- Speedy
Cons:
- Pricey
Star rating: 4/5
Wattage: 3000W
If any kettle could cheer you on a cold winter’s morning, it would be this one. You can set the temperature for between 50-100C, and lights along the base will show you how it is progressing towards its target. There’s a sizeable button in the middle of the lid to press and lift the lid. The handle is notably comfortable, and doesn’t attach at the bottom. One point to note is that the kettle is heavier than most. Read our full Smeg KLF04 kettle review.

- Available in-store from Tesco (£19)

Star rating: 5/5
Wattage: 3000W
This great-value kettle is an ideal for students heading to university. Tesco (£19)
Bosch cordless kettle – Star Buy
Best value cordless kettle
Pros:
- Sleek
- Fast
Cons:
- Larger than average base
Star rating: 5/5
Wattage: 3000W
This Bosch cordless kettle offers great features for tea aficionados. The kettle sits on a black base with touchscreen-like controls. From here, you can turn it on and off, or select the best temperature for your brew between 70-100C. There’s also a ‘keep warm’ button to maintain the water at the same temperature for 30 minutes. Dualit Domus kettle
Most user-friendly kettle
Pros:
- Stylish
Cons:
- Expensive
Star rating: 4/5
Wattage: 3000W
The shiny stainless steel Dualit Domus kettle doesn’t come cheap, but it’s brilliantly designed. Smaller than most of the kettles we tested, it has a maximum capacity of only 1.5 litres, but this is still enough for six cups of tea, and its footprint is smaller as a result, giving it a compact feel. Boiling in an average 2 minutes and 26 seconds for a litre, it’s a great little kettle for households. Read our full Dualit Domus kettle review.
Swan Nordic jug kettle – Star Buy
Most stylish kettle
Pros:
- Attractive design
- Fast
Cons:
- Limescale filler hard to remove
Star rating: 5/5
Wattage: 3000W
If you want a kettle that’s striking and different, this Scandinavian-style Swan kettle could be the answer – it’s an elegant and streamlined appliance that also comes in a cordless model. The wood-effect handle is made of rubber and easy to grip, but obstructs the water level gauge behind it. However, the upright design of this kettle means that despite its 1.7 litre-capacity, it doesn’t take up that much space on the worktop. It’s also fairly efficient, taking 2 minutes and 24 seconds to boil a litre of water. Read our Swan Nordic kettle review.

How we tested kettles
We tested a representative sample of kettles and scored them on the following criteria:
Good looks Kettles live on worktops, so the one you buy might come down to the one you like the look of, and whether it will fit in with the style of your kitchen.
Quality Well-fitting lids, quality on switches and filters – we were looking for a kettle that felt like it would last.
Speed While speed might not be the deciding factor when choosing a kettle, for most of us, the quicker, the better. We poured a litre of water into each of the kettles – enough for four mugs – and got the stopwatch out.
Ease of use There’s no point having a beautiful kettle if it’s awkward to use. We looked for kettles that were simple to fill and pour, with a good grip and easy-to-read water levels.
Value We awarded extra points for those kettles that were great value for money.
How to clean a kettle
It’s the age-old question of kettle maintenance – how do you get rid of a build-up of limescale? We recommend using vinegar, which is a common household ingredient that works as a gentle acid to break down deposits inside your kettle. Add half a cup of neat white vinegar to a kettle filled with water and leave it to sit overnight – this should remove any surface scale. Try to do this regularly to avoid heavy build-up that becomes impossible to remove.

Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle

The sleek Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle, is a simple-to-use electric kettle that has the best combination of capacity, features and control, with useful temperature settings and auditory cues to indicate the beginning and end of its heating cycle — features that other kettles either lacked or didn’t handle as gracefully. This 1.7-liter electric kettle heated up faster than others of similar capacity (and as quickly as many smaller kettles). The only fault we could find is that the Cuisinart is likely not suitable for people hoping to prepare well-extracted pour-over coffees or tea services that require precision pouring, as the spout is wide and stout.
We appreciated the simple, functional design of the Cuisinart far above competitors’. When powered on, the control panel (with six temperature settings, a start button and a keep warm function) illuminates. The capacity measure, gracefully hidden behind its handle, is also illuminated in blue light, so you can easily see how much water has been added. At the beginning and end of each cycle, the Cuisinart kettle beeps, conveniently indicating that warming has begun and finished. The keep-warm setting stays active for 30 minutes. These features — small touches in themselves — add up to a product that feels more useful than the other kettles we tested.
The Cuisinart’s illuminated control panel is easy to read, navigate and use.
Alex Arpaia/CNN Underscored
The Cuisinart was one of the fastest electric kettles we tried. It heated to a 212 degree Fahrenheit boil at full capacity in a bit under 6 minutes. Many similarly sized competitors took upwards of 10 minutes to heat. Although it seems like this might not be a big deal, the speed is notable in moments when you’re looking for hot water right away. Plus, the larger capacity is great for situations where more people will be using the kettle, whether that’s in the office or to serve a house full of tea drinkers. We also found the temperature settings to be accurate overall. When the keep-warm setting was activated, the Cuisinart occasionally heated slightly above the marked temperature setting, but otherwise we had no issues.
Although certainly not a deal breaker, the Cuisinart’s large, blunt and wide spout may disappoint people who regularly drink pour-over coffees, or otherwise require slow, higher-precision pouring. We had no issues using it to dispense water into mugs generally, but you can’t pour as slowly and carefully as you can with a gooseneck kettle.
Willow & Everett Gooseneck Electric Kettle
Alex Arpaia/CNN Underscored
The Willow & Everett Gooseneck Electric Kettle was one of the best gooseneck electric kettles we tested and at around $60 it was easily the best value among them. This kettle was easier to use than many others we tested, with settings that were intuitive and straightforward. The heating element is among the quickest we tried, with one of the highest degrees of accuracy. Plus the design of the heating element and gooseneck themselves are clean, and will look good displayed on a kitchen counter.
The Willow & Everett comes with the features you’d expect from a top-performing kettle, including five preset heat settings and a keep warm function that maintains your chosen temperature for up to half an hour. Like the Cuisinart, each preset temperature displays a legend describing what beverage it’s best suited for. We preferred the Willow & Everett’s preset temperature settings because they let us prepare drinks without the fussiness of dealing with the more granular settings available on the more customizable kettles such as the Fellow Stagg.
The Willow & Everett’s settings reflect ideal temperatures for various coffee and tea drinks.
Alex Arpaia/CNN Underscored
Although with a capacity of only 1 liter this kettle is smaller than many others we tried, it was also quicker to heat and its temperature settings were more accurate. The Willow & Everett heated the water to within 1 degree of its stated setting on every test. Additionally, it fully heated the maximum water capacity (1L) in around 5 1/2 minutes, which was among the quickest we tried, even among other small-capacity kettles.
We tested a number of gooseneck kettles for this piece, and among them, the Willow & Everett provided the best combination of features, value and aesthetics. Other models — across the price spectrum — offered far fewer features, didn’t have variable temperature settings and were overall slower to heat.
Hamilton Beach Glass Electric Tea Kettle
Alex Arpaia/CNN Underscored
If you’re on a budget or just looking for a kettle to get the job done and don’t need multiple temperature settings, the Hamilton Beach Glass Electric Tea Kettle is an excellent choice. The Hamilton Beach’s main asset is that it heats water more quickly than competitors, but costs half the price of most we tested. It also looks better than most others in the price range, with a clear glass carafe. The Hamilton Beach’s controls are simple: an on-off button and hinged lid.
The Hamilton Beach only has a 1 liter capacity, about half that of our main pick from Cuisinart, but heated faster than any other kettle we tested regardless of capacity, taking a hair above 5 minutes to heat a full liter to a boil. The temperature of the kettle is accurate, too, with the water temp measuring in at 212 degrees Fahrenheit (water’s boiling point) immediately after shutting off.
The design and quality feel of this kettle was also decent for the price. Its glass construction is attractive, with volume measurements marked up the side of the carafe. The Hamilton Beach has a hinged lid that releases via squeezing two buttons on either side and manually lifting it open. Although the construction of the lid felt a little clunky, we appreciated that it’s integrated and won’t get lost. This carafe is illuminated with a ring of blue lights around the bottom when powered on. The lights go out when the heating cycle has completed in lieu of any audio cues.
The Hamilton Beach has a curved and pointed spout that pours water precisely, dispensing one of the thinnest water streams of any non-gooseneck kettle we tested. While it isn’t quite as easy to control as a gooseneck kettle, it would be suitable for pour-over coffee in a pinch.
Overall, while the overall build and design may not match more expensive kettles, the Hamilton Beach more than makes up for any shortcomings by being one of the most effective kettles we tested that performs well and is satisfying to use.
Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Gooseneck Kettle
Alex Arpaia/CNN Underscored
If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line kettle that offers finer-grained control over temperature, quieter performance and the best looks of anything we tested, the Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Gooseneck Kettle is the best choice. Starting at $150 (some of the fancier finishes cost $20 or $30 more), this kettle isn’t for most people. But those who are particular about the temperature at which they brew coffee or tea and value the ability to adjust temperature in single-degree increments up to 212 degrees Fahrenheit, the Fellow is worth the investment. Along with that adjustability, you get a hold/keep-warm setting and the ability to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit readings.
The Fellow wasn’t the fastest kettle we tested, but it performed well, heating water to a boil in about 6 minutes. It was also quieter and emitted less steam than every other kettle we tested. The boil seemed to exude a level of calm that no other kettle was able to achieve, and it barely rumbled or shook when it reached the boiling point. While some kettles were very noisy and steamy during their heating process, the Fellow was nearly silent — a sort of jet-black water-heating spaceship. It also has a keep-warm feature that remains active for 60 minutes — one of the longest of any we tried.
Of course, a big part of the appeal of this kettle is that its appearance will please design-minded users. The kettle itself comes in nine finishes (ten, if you count their Broccoli green collaboration with Great Jones). Unlike other kettles, the Fellow Stagg EKG sits on a minimalist square heating element marked by two cleanly integrated circles. The leftmost circle is a small digitized screen that displays the temperature settings in the metric of your choosing (Celsius or Fahrenheit). During heating, it shows what temperature the kettle has already heated the water to, and after heating, it displays what temperature the remaining water is at. The circle on the right is a knob that powers the kettle on with a tap, and then spins to adjust to the desired temperature. Along the back of the heating element are two switches: One activates the keep-warm functionality, and the other toggles between temperature metrics (Celsius or Fahrenheit).
The Fellow Stagg EKG kettle’s minimalist base gives you plenty of information, and temperature can be set in one-degree increments.
Alex Arpaia/CNN Underscored
The Fellow Stagg EKG’s handle and spout are placed at slightly different angles from most other gooseneck kettles we tested, but it is pleasant to use and handles comfortably. It poured hot water smoothly at a slow but even pace, perfectly suited to making pour-over coffee. We had some issues initially with sputtering, but found that keeping the lid’s ventilation holes pointed toward the handle let water flow smoothly.
While we do expect to see more user complaints from an expensive item like this, we noted some users reported that their Fellow Stagg EKG kettles have failed entirely, out of the blue, after only a few months, while others encountered temperature screen glitches or failures. That said, the kettle is covered by a one-year warranty.
Alex Arpaia/CNN Underscored
We tested each electric kettle by filling it to its maximum fill-line and setting it to boil (for most kettles we tested this was the only setting). We noted how long each kettle took to boil when filled to capacity, and checked the temperature of the water using a probe thermometer immediately after each heating cycle was completed. For kettles that had multiple temperature settings, we tested each level individually, filling the kettle with cold tap water each time, and measuring the temperature of the water immediately after the heating cycle completed. We also tested the keep-warm setting on kettles that had one by waiting around ten minutes after the initial warmup, and periodically checking the temperature of the water with a probe thermometer for consistency. Beyond functionality tests, we also assessed the following:
- Design: We evaluated how the kettles looked, and noted if there were any features or placements that were especially pleasing or frustrating.
- Alerts: Did the kettle have any visual or auditory cues to indicate the warming cycle was complete? How did they compare to other models’, and were the cues helpful or just annoying?
- Ease of pouring: For gooseneck kettles, we tested pour-over coffee performances over a Kalita Wave for consistency of pouring. For the standard design kettles, we noted how smooth or choppy the water stream was coming from the kettle, and whether it splashed when pouring.
- Ease of cleaning: While this was a non-issue for most kettles we tried, we took note of any design flaws or construction quirks that might make it easier or harder to keep the kettles clean.
Breville Crystal Clear Electric Kettle ($92.49, originally $99.95; amazon.com)
We liked the Breville Crystal Clear Electric Kettle and nearly recommended it, but the price is a bit high for such a simplistic kettle, and we have read multiple user complaints about the lid breaking after only a few years of use (plus it’s expensive to replace). That said, if you’re looking for a glass kettle that looks attractive, has simple features and heats up moderately quickly, the Breville is a great option. We liked that the soft-hinge top pops open silently with the push of a button. And the Breville isn’t fussy to use, with a simple on-off switch below the handle. With a 1-year warranty (and extended warranty purchase options from Breville) this kettle is great for light use, if you aren’t worried about the hinging lid breaking.
Oxo Brew Cordless Glass Electric Kettle ($83.99; amazon.com)
We loved the look and features of the Oxo Brew Cordless Glass Electric Kettle, but it was the slowest to heat of any we tested, and the kettle is likely too tall for most kitchens. At 11.5 inches tall, it is clunky under most kitchen cabinets, and some reviewers even report the height makes this kettle unstable. The Oxo also heated slower than any other we tested, and it seemed to run a bit hot, often reading 3-5 degrees above the set temperature when its heating cycle was complete.
KitchenAid KEK1222PT ($89; amazon.com)
The KitchenAid KEK1222PT electric kettle was pleasing to look at in its signature minty green color, but its construction was too irritating to overlook. Like a stovetop kettle, this one has a handle that sweeps across the top, but, annoyingly, it doesn’t hinge to either side for cleaning or filling. So in order to access the kettle’s opening, you’re always battling the stationary handle going across the top. If you can overlook this, the KitchenAid kettle is a reasonable 1.25 liters, and performed well in our tests, heating water in just under 6 minutes.
Bodum Melior Gooseneck ($26.99, originally $34.99; amazon.com)
The Bodum Melior Gooseneck is a good value and looks attractive. It doesn’t have any special features, but it pours smoothly for a great pour-over. We found that despite the handle and lid-pull made from cork, the Bodum felt flimsy when handling, like many of the cheaper kettles we tested.
If you want a solidly made, no-frills gooseneck kettle that holds its own among pricier options, the Hario V60 Buono Drip Kettle is a decent choice. It doesn’t have multiple temperature settings or a keep-warm function and was solidly average on heating time (around 6 1/2 minutes), but it is well built and, if you don’t mind the basic functions, a good choice.
Capresso h3O Plus Glass Water Kettle ($47.99, originally $59.99; bedbathandbeyond. com)
The Capresso h3O Plus Glass Water Kettle felt poorly made overall. The lid felt like it was about to break off when we opened the kettle. We also noticed that after a few rounds of testing the heating element was already discolored, despite being basically brand new.
Hamilton Beach 40880 Electric Kettle ($32.99, originally $36.99; amazon.com)
We liked the Hamilton Beach 40880 Electric Kettle, but it didn’t stand out in any notable ways. The heating was average and the materials felt fine. If you’ve been considering this kettle over the other Hamilton Beach we recommend, it would be a good alternative option. With a 1.7-liter capacity, this kettle’s capability goes a bit further with every use.
Cosori Speed-Boil Electric Kettle ($35.99, originally $39.99; amazon.com)
The Cosori Speed-Boil Electric Kettle is decently attractive, but was among the slower to heat up that we tested.
Mueller Ultra Kettle M99S ($34. 97, originally $49.99; amazon.com)
Another glass kettle, the Mueller Ultra Kettle M99S took nearly 10 minutes to heat to boiling at full capacity. With a simple design and no other notable features, we’d recommend our top picks instead.
Chefman Electric Glass Kettle ($24.99, originally $44.99; amazon.com)
Although the tea basket that comes with the Chefman Electric Glass Kettle is novel, it also took more than 9 minutes to fully heat up. This kettle works well, though, and if you want something a bit cheaper than our budget recommendation from Hamilton Beach or need a kettle with greater capacity, it might be for you.

The function of an electric kettle is straightforward: to boil water. But it’s a crowded market, and the right model for one person might not be right for another. If you’re a pour-over-coffee diehard, a gooseneck is nonnegotiable (more on that below). If you prefer French press, the type of spout doesn’t matter so much. If tea is your beverage of choice, you already know that the brew temperature for a green tea differs significantly from that of a black tea, and you probably want a kettle that can dial in on that range. (I naïvely disregarded this until I got a temperature-controlled one of my own.) And while coffee and tea are the two main reasons people keep an electric kettle on their counters, maybe you just love instant noodles and want a quick and reliable boil when you’re hungry for dinner.
No matter your situation, there’s a right kettle out there for you — and I talked to a slew of experts to figure out the best of the bunch.
Best overall | Best less-expensive overall | Best simple gooseneck | Best large temperature-controlled | Best large simple | Best small simple | Best large for tea | Best less-expensive large for tea | Most stylish large
Type of pour spout: Some kettles have a classic, beak-shaped pour spout that dispenses water fairly quickly. Others have a gooseneck: a long, skinny spout shaped like a backward S, snaking its way from the bottom of the kettle out and toward the top. A gooseneck pours pretty slowly, giving you a better handle over speed and the surface area you’re covering with water. This might not matter so much when filling up a mug for tea, but it is imperative for something like pour-over, where the stream of water over the coffee grounds needs to be ultraprecise. I’ll also say that, even if it’s not strictly necessary for everything, the chance of splashes and spills with a gooseneck is next to nothing.
Temperature settings: Like the type of pour spout, temperature settings are something you’ll care about depending on what you’ll use your kettle for — and, frankly, how nitty-gritty you want to get about it. Some kettles heat to the exact degree you set (technically ideal for coffee and tea preparations), some have predetermined temperatures (usually tied to tea types), and some don’t have any temperature control at all. Also some hold the temperature you want while you go about your business, while others will need to be reheated if they’re left to cool.
Volume: Finally, you’ll want to consider how much water your electric kettle will hold. Are you only making one cup of coffee every morning? Do you often offer tea to multiple guests at once? Goosenecks are generally on the smaller side, but you’ll find the exact capacity of each kettle on this list.
Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Kettle
From
$160
Gooseneck | Precise temperature control and hold | 0.9 liters
The Fellow Stagg EKG is, without question, the gold standard of electric kettles. It’s been a Strategist favorite since it came out several years ago and has held that regard since — through multiple updates to our best gifts for tea lovers and coffee lovers roundups and yet again when I set out to consult the experts for this piece. With the exception of two people, everybody told me the Stagg EKG is the best of the best (one simply didn’t mention it, and the other said he appreciates a lot about it but prefers the way other kettles feel in his hand).
The Stagg EKG is more expensive than most on this list — but not so much more expensive that the price lessened its ranking. There’s just too much praise surrounding it. “It heats quickly and allows you to adjust the temperature setting in one-degree increments,” explains Jerad Morrison, co-founder and co-CEO of Sightglass Coffee in San Francisco. “It will even regulate and hold at your temp preference, which is super-useful and convenient. ” Marco Suarez, one of the owners of Methodical Coffee in Greenville, South Carolina, mentions that it turns itself off as a safety feature after it’s been left sitting for longer than an hour. “I’ve had mine for maybe five years, and it’s still in great shape,” he says.
Many called out its precise pouring ability thanks to the gooseneck spout (granted, a feature found in multiple models on this list), and everyone noted that it’s the most attractive of the bunch. “For an object you’re going to have sitting on your countertop day in and day out, there is no one else that really touches Fellow in terms of looks,” says Suarez. “The design is amazing,” agrees Kyle Ramage, co-owner of Black & White Coffee Roasters in Raleigh, North Carolina. “It’s sturdy and eloquent.” Finally, tea writer Sara Shacket, who owns the copper version (one of nine sophisticated styles), loves that it “makes for a nice presentation” if she’s serving tea to a group.
If you love the look of the Stagg EKG but don’t want to spend so much, my boyfriend bought this strikingly similar-looking electric kettle for us last winter before I started working at Strategist (and before I had ever heard of Fellow). It comes only in matte black, but it has exact temperature control and hold as well as a streamlined pour, and it has held up with frequent use.

Gooseneck | Precise temperature control and hold | 1 liter
Hario was the original creator of this type of spout, and though more advanced gooseneck kettles have since come out, it still commands a lot of respect, cited by several of our pros as a solid choice. Suyog Mody, co-founder of Brooklyn’s Driftaway Coffee, has had his for about eight years. And if you’re looking to get a temperature that will work for coffee, you don’t have to overthink it: “Just boil the water, wait a minute, and then pour it,” he instructs. James McCarthy, Mody’s colleague and coffee educator at Driftaway, is also a fan: “I like the feel of it. It’s easy to handle.” While none of the professionals I talked to called out the look of the Hario in particular, I think it’s quite attractive. Leah Muncy, my colleague and an avid tea drinker, owns one and agrees wholeheartedly. “I mean, just look at that little wavy handle!” she says. “Sometimes I just stare at it.”

Oxo Adjustable Temperature Kettle

Standard pour spout | Precise temperature control and hold | 1.8 liters
McCarthy called out the Oxo gooseneck as his personal favorite (and price-wise, it’s just about the same as the Bonavita). But Oxo also makes this larger version with a standard pour spout, equipped with the same base as the gooseneck. It allows for temperature adjustments down to the degree and holds that temperature for up to 30 minutes. Of course, the glass body allows you to see how much water is inside, and the overall design is quite sleek (harder to find, in my opinion, when it comes to the larger models). Finally, the silicone on the bottom of the kettle itself allows you to set it down on any surface without worrying about damage.
Cosori Electric Glass Kettle

Standard pour spout | No temperature control or hold | 1.7 liters
If you’re not fussy about the idea of temperature control and want something with a larger body and wider pour spout than the Hario, this Cosori kettle was a favorite among Strategist readers in a previous version of this story. It has the Amazon rating to back that up — 4.7 stars with more than 11,000 reviews — with buyers seeming particularly pleased with the materials it’s made from (impressive, given the affordable price). With glass walls and a stainless-steel filter, it produces “clean hot water that has virtually no contact with any plastic parts,” says one buyer. Beyond that, it boasts an automatic shut-off with a light indicator that lets you know when your water is done boiling (a plus if you happen to be sitting across the room) and an opening wide enough to allow for easy cleaning.

Recipe developer and content creator Sohla El-Waylly says this electric kettle looks enough like a stovetop model that one morning her mom (whom she gifted one to) was so sleepy, she literally put it on a burner and ruined it. Luckily, El-Waylly has never done the same with her own in the six years she’s owned it — but she does appreciate its “old-timey retro vibes,” along with its “no bells and whistles” functionality. While that means you can’t see the water level and there’s no temperature control, it perfectly suits El-Waylly’s main needs: making tea (she’s not fussy about exacting degrees) and using a bit of boiling water for cooking, whether deglazing a pan, finishing off undercooked rice, or giving a head start to water for potatoes or pasta.

Breville One-Touch Tea Maker
$295
$295
This recommendation comes courtesy of a Strategist story written a couple of years ago by contributor David Schwartz — a recommendation that, when I checked in with him all this time later, still holds up. He’s been a regular tea drinker his whole life, but the ritual changed for the better when he received this (undeniably high-end) electric kettle as a gift. It’ll cost you a pretty penny, but it very well might be worth the investment. “It brews tea at custom temperatures depending on leaf type and flavor strength,” Schwartz writes, “but what differentiates this from less expensive alternatives is something that almost all run-of-the-mill coffee makers do: It brews automatically at any time of day without you having to do anything but pour in the tea. The Breville’s pièce de résistance is a metal-mesh basket that robotically dunks loose leaves in boiled water for the exact steeping time and then removes them, resting above the water’s surface to prevent too-bitter brews or totally weak souse.”

Standard pour spout | Standardized temperature control and hold | 1.7 liters
If the Breville isn’t worth the investment to you, Shacket recommends this Cuisinart model with preset temperatures for different types of teas. It has a full-boil button for black tea (which is also the correct setting for herbal and rooibos teas), a 190-degree button for oolong, a 185 button for white, a 175 button for green, and a 160 button for delicate teas — not to mention a French press setting. There’s also a keep-warm setting, unlike with some of the bigger models that automatically shut off and cool down once they’re done boiling.

Strategist senior writer Liza Corsillo had coveted the out-of-her-price-range Fellow Stagg kettle for a long time — but then she saw this equally stylish one and decided to buy it. “I just thought it was so nice looking,” she says, and much more in line with her and her partner’s style than the previous big one she owned when she lived with roommates. She also calls the Chantal “blissfully uncomplicated” to use. You simply fill it up and press down on a single button. The cord wraps into the base for neat storage, it holds a lot of water, and the handle has a comfortable grip.

What do buyers say? 90% of 7,500+ Amazon reviewers rated this product 4 stars or above.
This electric kettle boils water fast and can be set to six specific temperatures, each one suited for a different variety of tea. Made of durable glass, it holds 1.7 liters of liquid and has an auto-shut-off function for safety. You can serve hot tea or other beverages directly at the table; the kettle lifts off of the base easily, and you won’t have to worry about it being attached to the cord. There’s also a mesh filter built into the spout, a wide opening for easy cleaning, and a handle that won’t get hot. You’ll always know when the kettle is running, too, as it illuminates a soft blue light when on.
Customers love how quickly it boils the water, giving the kettle high marks in temperature control, as well as ease of use and easiness to clean. The item is extremely durable despite its glass body, as very few users had issues with chipping or shattering. One of the only drawbacks, according to reviews, is that the kettle doesn’t have a push-to-open button on the handle.

What We Don’t Like
A fit for most kitchens, this model is a great value buy. The Cosori Glass Electric Kettle has a 1.7-liter capacity, which is comparable to standard stovetop kettles, so you can fill your teapot or French press completely. It’s also equipped with a reliable automatic shutoff to safely prevent dry boiling.
There are some cons to consider before purchasing, however. First, the item is fairly loud when boiling; this may not be an issue to many, but it is worth noting nonetheless. The lid also doesn’t open all the way, which can make it a little difficult to clean.
Other pros to the Cosori kettle include the pleasing blue light that glows while the item is in use, as well as the fact that both sides of the carafe are clearly labeled for easy measuring. Customers also say the water boils fast, so you won’t have to wait long for a delicious cup of tea.

Many electric kettles are reasonably priced, but the Mueller Premium Electric Kettle offers especially great bang for your buck. The item will bring your water to a boil just as well as the next kettle (and faster than your microwave can) for an even more affordable price.
The sleek glass design will look eye-catching in any kitchen, and there’s even a blue light that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional as it lets you know the item is in use. It’s equipped with an automatic shutoff feature to make it even safer, and many customers say it boils quickly. At 1.8 liters, the size of this kettle is right in line with the majority of other options on the market.
Some customers say the kettle is on the heavier side, so consider if that will be an issue before buying. Apart from that, the only other downside is that the base is a little on the flimsy side. But, for the price, this kettle can’t be beat.

Americans might not be as enamored with tea kettles as our friends across the pond, but they’re certainly handy to have. This elegant stainless steel electric kettle holds 1.7 liters and has six preset heat setting for steeping different types of tea at the proper temperature, even if you can’t remember which tea needs which temperature. A blue LED indicates when the water is ready and the 30-minute keep-warm feature holds the temperature in case you’re not quite ready to brew.
The cord is attached to the base so the kettle is free to move and pour anywhere, and the base swivels 360 degrees so you can keep the cord out of the way, no matter where you keep the kettle. It has a 1,500 watts of power that heats the water quickly.
The kettle can be removed from the base for up to two minutes so you can pour water and return it to the base to continue keeping warm; after two minutes, the base shuts off automatically. The water window is backlit with an attractive blue light, so it’s easy to see how much water is in the kettle. The scale filter is removable and washable, so you’ll always have clean water. Boil-dry protection turns the kettle off if it runs dry.

If you have a bit more to spend and are concerned with both form and function, the OXO Cordless Glass Electric Kettle might just be the choice for you. The sleek kettle is made mostly of borosilicate glass, with stainless steel and black accents. It’s a sure fit for any modern kitchen.
The heating base allows the carafe itself to be cord-free, and the soft-open lid prevents too much steam from escaping or hot water from splashing making it easier to pour. The kettle holds 1.75 liters of water, and has easy-to-read measurement markings on the glass carafe. The auto shutoff feature means you won’t have to worry about it boiling dry. The easy-to-grip handle stays cool to the touch, so you’ll be able to easily carry it from heating dock to table without worry. The only feature missing from this kettle is the ability to choose different water temperatures.
If you have hard water, you might have to occasionally clean it with vinegar or a descaling solution to prevent mineral buildup. But that’s good advice for all of the electric kettles featured here.

The Fellow Stagg Electric Kettle Will Level Up Your Pour-Over Coffee
The Fellow Stagg EKG is not only one of the best gooseneck kettles on the market but one of the best kettles, period. With the turn of a dial it can be programmed to heat up anywhere from 135 to 212 degrees, and there’s a setting to maintain water temperature for up to one hour. This offers the flexibility to heat water for specific types of tea—hotter for black and herbal teas, cooler for green and white teas.
The item’s design stands out compared to other electric kettles thanks to its tapered body, sleek matte colorways, and elegant gooseneck spout. Customers add that the spout provides a precise and even pour, ideal for those with a French press, Chemex, or other non-electric coffee maker.
Two drawbacks to consider are that the Stagg EKG is slightly on the smaller side (holding up to .9 liters of water) and it’s quite expensive. However, the item earns especially high praise from customers for its versatility, durability, and ease of use.

Zeppoli Electric Kettle Review
The Zeppoli Electric Kettle is an excellent choice for those who want to make tea or hot meals but live in a college dorm or small space without a stove. This electric kettle stands out because of how quickly it comes to a boil—in about 5 to 6 minutes when filled to full capacity—and how convenient it is to use, making it great for multitaskers often in a rush in the mornings.
The Zeppoli has a 1.7-liter capacity and is budget-friendly, especially considering the features it comes with: a lid that opens with a button press, a simple tab that lights up to turn the kettle on, and an auto-shutoff after 30 seconds. It also has a removable filter and a wide opening for easy cleaning. A bonus: the kettle’s glass body, BPA-free plastic base and handle, and stainless steel accents give the unit a sleek look. It’s lightweight, too.

Almost too quiet
The Willow & Everett stainless steel electric kettle features a 1-liter capacity that’s well-suited for individuals and smaller kitchens and a classic gooseneck design that offers precise pours. If you’re a tea and coffee person, this is a great choice as the five convenient presets allow you to quickly boil water for pour-over coffee with a touch of the button or make a variety of teas at precise temperatures (180 degrees for green and white tea, 195 degrees for oolong tea, 200 degrees for black tea, and 205 degrees for herbal tea).
Senior Editor Mary Kate Hoban received a sample to test and liked how quick (around 60 seconds!) and easy it was to make a cup of tea. It’s whisper-quiet, which made it a little difficult to know when the water was boiling, but she liked the fact that it has an auto shut-off that activates the second the water reaches the optimal temperature. It’s an affordable stainless steel option, but the mirror finish looks elegant and high-end.

Final Verdict
The Hamilton Beach Variable Temperature Kettle tops our list thanks to its fast boiling time, sleek design, and value for money. At a similar price, the Cosori Glass Electric Kettle is another worthwhile option. Neither have the features of a high-end kettle, like specific drink settings or temperature holding, but they can reliably deliver hot water for years to come.
What to Look for in an Electric Kettle
Features
Many electric kettles are simple: hit the switch, wait for the water to boil. But you can also find kettles with a number of convenient features, including preset drink options, temperature holding, and automatic shutoff. Figuring out what features you want will also provide a clearer idea of your price point.
Size
If you typically make one cup of tea at a time or own a small French press, you might not want a large kettle taking up counter space. But if you’re an avid tea or coffee drinker, or if you need to brew beverages for multiple people, it’s worth purchasing a bigger (and likely heavier) kettle.
Material
Electric kettles are primarily made from three materials: plastic, glass, or steel. Each one brings a different aesthetic to your kitchen and also affects the weight of the kettle. If you’re worried about a kettle being too heavy, it’s probably best to go the plastic route, though there are some great lightweight options in the glass and steel department.
FAQs
How do you clean an electric kettle?
Electric kettles need to be regularly cleaned inside and out to keep them looking nice and working properly. You can easily remove smudges and stains from a kettle’s exterior by wiping it with a soft cloth and cleaning product of your choice. A combination of vinegar and baking soda is great for removing tougher stains, but dish soap works, too. This should be done every week or so to keep your kettle shining.
Electric kettles also need to be descaled—a more rigorous process intended to remove the mineral buildup, commonly called scale, inside a kettle. The task should be performed at least four times a year. One method of descaling goes as follows: fill your kettle halfway with equal parts water and white vinegar, bring the solution to a boil, and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing inside with water. Lemon juice or citric acid is a reliable substitute for white vinegar. If your kettle has a water filter, it can be soaked in a combination of water and white vinegar for five minutes and scrubbed with a bottle brush to keep clean. Once finished with all these steps, it’s worth running a cycle of water through your kettle to make sure it’s entirely clean.
What water temperature is best for tea?
The best brewing temperature depends on the type of tea you are making. Each variety has its own temperature or range of temperatures that bring out the strongest flavor. White tea should be brewed around 160 degrees. Green tea ranges from 150 to 180 degrees. Moving onto the stronger teas, oolong is best between 190 and 200 degrees. Black tea ranges from 180 to 212 degrees, but the majority are best with water above 200 degrees. Pu-erh is brewed around 205 degrees. Finally, herbal teas should be brewed at a full boil of 212 degrees. Many electric kettles have preset options for specific tea varieties, so all you have to do is hit a button and the device will bring water to the ideal temperature for you.
Can you heat milk in an electric kettle?
Users are not advised to heat milk in a kettle, whether it’s a stovetop or an electric model. Milk often leaves residue inside kettles that is difficult to clean and prone to an unpleasant smell. It can also damage the heating elements of an electric kettle and, in some cases, void the warranty. Heating milk in the microwave or in a pot on the stove are better options than using your kettle.

The De’Longhi Ballerina Kettle pairs with our guide to toasters perfectly, because its two- and four-slice counterpart also sits in the top spot. Why? Well, for a start it has a stunning design that really catches the eye and looks beautiful on any kitchen counter. We had numerous comments from friends and family when testing, and it’s more that just easy on the eyes, too.
With a water level indicator and a light-up switch to indicate that it’s on, the De’Longhi Ballerina Kettle is ideal for practical use around the kitchen. The 1.7 litre capacity is also perfectly suited to serving mugs of tea, or filling up a whole teapot.
Our one gripe is that the lid has to be lifted away. Other options in our guide (such as the Bosch TWK7203GB) have a button to lift up the lid and open up the kettle for easy refills, but the De’Longhi requires both hands.

We love a bit of hi-tech style, so it’s no surprise we were impressed by the unique touch-control panel on this kettle. At just 1kg, it’s light, easy to fill and holds an impressive 1.7L when full. The base features a simple power-on graphic that, when gently pressed, allowed us to switch the kettle on and off in the same way as we would our smartphone or tablet. Nice.
There’s also a funky, futuristic blue-light slider that illuminates to indicate a chosen temperature, from 70˚C to 100˚C. While it wasn’t quite the quickest to boil, it was pretty speedy at just over two-and-a-half minutes. And if you get distracted, like we often do, there’s an ingenious keep-warm function. This maintains the desired water temperature for 30 minutes after the kettle has boiled.
It also has the obligatory 360˚ base, meaning it’s comfortable to pick up from any angle. There’s a lovely large flip lid and a removable limescale filter, too. Sure, it’s got a slightly bigger footprint that most of the models we tested. But we think its elegant lines and steely good looks mean it’s an absolute keeper, however much worktop space you might have.

Available in either cool white or slate grey with contrasting wood-effect comfort handle, this highly attractive kettle is a great choice for anyone that loves a bit of Nordic design. The boil-dry protection mode, which prevents it from being accidentally switched on if there’s no water in it means you won’t need to worry about accidentally damaging it either. There’s also a limescale filter, which helps to keep drinks delightfully scum- and impurity-free.
It holds 1.7 litres, enough to fill around 7-8 cups depending on your ‘portion sizes’, and it boiled a litre of water in just 2 minutes 45. The end of the on lever glows an agreeable bold blue colour while it’s boiling and the handle has a lovely soft feel to it. It has a lovely drip-free pour, too, which we found very pleasing.

The Funky Appliance Company’s aptly-named Funky Kettle hit the spot when we were hunting for a great kettle and toaster combo. It’s surprisingly hard to find a matching set where each component delivers great performance, but the Funky Kettle and its matching Funky Toaster were the perfect brunch duo.
We loved the exterior, which is quirky and reminiscent of the SMEG, even down to the stainless steel design. The lever clicks down easily, illuminating the back panel which shows the water line and shuts off when water has reached a boiling point. While it may not have a place in the best kettle roundup, the toaster could take frozen and fresh bread and toast evenly on each side, every time.
The spout makes pouring very easy, and refilling is simple thanks to the button on the top of the lid that pops open. Even the handle was ergonomic, but we do wish the colour selection was a bit more fun.

We love the sleek design of this kettle, which feels sturdy and high quality to use. It reminds us of classic Dualit kettles, but at a fraction of the price. It’s great quality, with non-slip feet at the base that keep it from moving around your kitchen counter, and it looks a treat when paired with the High Gloss toaster. We also enjoyed how speedy the boiling was, and the light-up design was great for making sure it was actually switched on, and knowing when it had finished boiling.
Choose between cream, white, and grey designs to suit your kitchen. We found the kettle’s markings which show cup measurements on the side of the handle a little meagre, but maybe we just like a giant mug of tea…

The Kenwood Mesermine kettle has a 1. 6 litre capacity, meaning it’s great for making many cups of tea in one go. It comes in white, black, orange, red and purple and has an optional matching toaster, which is also a top buy. The kettle comes with a limescale filter that can filter your drink as it pours and has a handy button that lights up to indicate it’s on.
As with most large-capacity kettles, the Mesmerine can take a while to get going, and you might sometimes overfill by accident. On the whole, this is a great kettle for families as the exterior is protected by a plastic layer, meaning it never gets too hot to the touch and feels safe to handle. During testing, we also found that it reaching boiling point in a very efficient time, and that pouring from it when it’s fuller is nice and easy.

You have to pay extra for panel kits
Today’s Best Deals
If you’re the kind of person that likes to switch up your home décor with the seasons, then this model with interchangeable panels is for you. The (already beautiful) steel exterior can be further enhanced with easy-to-fit panels that encase the bottom and lid. The panel kits can be bought separately, and range in price from £12.50 for plain colours and metallics to £24.95 for specially commissioned designs from the likes of Bluebellgrey, Charlene Mullen and Kit Miles, whose floral Biophilia design is our current must-have.
As we’ve come to expect from Dualit products, the kettle is also beautifully built and ergonomic to use. The lid had a nice soft-open action, meaning it’s easy to refill without the risk of steaming your hand. The water indicator under the handle lit up when we started boiling, and has easy-to-read levels from two cups cup to a maximum of 1.5L. We particularly liked the unique circular pouring spout, which ensured free-flowing water with no splashes.
It’s not the lightest kettle we tested but feels stable and secure on its base. There’s an integrated cord store and it boils quietly, if not overly speedily, for such an impressive looking machine. An internal filter meant boiled water was crystal clear and scum-free, even though the water from our tap tends to be harder than action hero Jason Statham on a tough day at the office.

The Russell Hobbs 20460 Quiet Boil Kettle has a flat and discreet base and a classic design that resembles a cooktop kettle. It can boil one cup of water in just 45 seconds, and we were very impressed by how wonderfully quiet it was when we tested it.
If you love peace and quiet, then you’ll love that this kettle, which is a great fit for open-plan spaces where a loud kettle can be a real distraction. In addition this kettle is easy to hold, has a water window on the side which is clear and lights up, so you can clearly see how much water there is when it starts to boil.

9. Smarter 3rd Generation iKettle

Reasons to buy
+

Reasons to avoid
–
No on-board adjustments, so you’ll need to have your phone handy to use it
Today’s Best Deals
The Smarter iKettle is well-named. While it lacks the on-board controls of the Bosch Sky kettle, you can control the temperature using a smartphone app or even a smart speaker. You can also schedule it, and switch it into keep-warm mode. It’s an extravagant appliance, but when you’re working from home and drink a lot of tea, the remote access is a bit of a blessing.
We enjoyed the button, which you simply press to open the lid and refill. The metal design also felt high quality, but if you don’t get on with smart tech, this one’s not what you need. While pairing was easy enough, the rest of the controls are left to you to figure out.
Pouring was easy and the handle was ergonomic, so if you like your smart tech, this is a top pick.

10. Russell Hobbs Emma Bridgewater Kettle

Today’s Best Deals
The Russell Hobbs Emma Bridgewater Kettle is the quietest one we tested. It heats and boils virtually silently, which means you’re unlikely to be disturbed if it’s used when you’re in a call or early in the morning. It’s also a treat to look at, with a retro-contemporary design that comes in either a multi-coloured polka dot or a love heart pattern. There’s also a matching toaster available, which we really enjoyed testing. The spout of this kettle makes pouring a treat, and the overhead handle is easy to hold and tactile.
Russell Hobbs claims this kettle has 70% quieter boil technology. You can tell when this kettle is finished boiling by the audible click it makes when switching off. It is on the expensive side for a less smart option, but there are plenty of matching Emma Bridgewater mugs and plates available to make the design even sweeter. With a 1.7 litre capacity, it’s also fairly large, despite its cute and shorter pyramid design.
How we picked the best kettles
At Ideal Home, we know how we test and pick the products we recommend as the best is of vital importance. In order to isolate the top-rated kettles on the market, we tried a number of these kettles in our own homes, and also employed the help of our reviewer Ysanne, who was previously editor at Beautiful Kitchens magazine to have hands-on experience too.
As well as looking as aesthetics and boiling time, with these kettles we were on the lookout for common issues, like noisy kettles and limescale build-up for hard water kettles, and we have taken care to include a range of kettles that will work for every budget. Some of the kettles in our guide can be bought for well under £30, but the more expensive ones can cost over £100 and feature variable temperature, water filters and other extras.
What is the best kettle in 2022?
Our overall best kettle was the De’Longhi Ballerina Kettle, which we rate for its usability and temperature-control functions. The Dualit Architect kettle also wins our approval for its sturdy build and good looks, and the Russell Hobbs Emma Bridgewater Kettle is the quietest kettle we tested. Read on to discover more of our test verdicts.
Why do I need a kettle?
Kettles are for more than just brewing cups of tea. Investing in a kettle will make dinners so much easier, from boiling paster to blanching tomatoes. Some kettles with in-built water filters, which is great for those with limescale buildup or concerns about their local drinking water. Large capacity kettles are perfect for filling up hot water bottles or par-boiling potatoes for a Sunday roast, and even if you don’t use it so much, a small kettle can pack plenty of style into a compact kitchen.
How much should I spend on a kettle?
How much you spend depends on what features you’re after. Prices tend to rise the more stylish and feature-led the kettle is. If you just want a bog-standard model that boils fairly quickly and quietly, there are kettles available from £15 and above.

What are the main features to look for in a kettle?

Top of our must-have list is that it’s easy is it to hold, fill and pour. If you often refill a kettle as soon as it has boiled, choose one with a flip-top lid you don’t have to take off manually. This is really important to avoid the risk of scalding yourself on steam when you open it.
We’d definitely suggest a cordless model on 360˚ swivel base, for ease of use. A cord store will keep things tidy on a worktop, and an easy-to-view water indicator is handy.
While kettles don’t come packed with tech, some have variable boil temperatures. This is great if you’re a tea aficionado who knows their oolong boiling temp from the one that’s right for standard black tea. That’s 80-85˚C and 100˚C, respectively, if you’re curious.
I live in a hard water area. What’s the best kettle for me?
Filters that reduce limescale are invaluable if you live in a hard-water area and don’t want to be descaling your kettle on a regular basis.
Just be aware that models that feature a Brita filter, for instance, generally have a smaller capacity. That’s because of the room taken up by the filter and its holder. The cost for replacing the filters once a month can add up, too. However, it will mean you don’t need an extra water filter jug on the worktop.

Advantages
I bought this kettle on the advice of the manager. I needed a kettle to brew green tea, oolong tea and sheng pu-erh at a low temperature. Kitchen Aid is a stylish teapot made with a retro look, fully metal, double-walled, keeps heat well inside, and the surface is barely warm. The handle fits comfortably in the hand. Lighter in weight than my old double-walled metal kettle. The inner surface of the lid is plastic, the smell disappeared after the second inclusion. It is very good that the temperature control is mechanical. Before that, I bought an electronically adjustable kettle in another store, it broke the second time it was turned on – the electronics on the stand burned out. There is nothing to break in Kitchen Aid and the 3 year warranty speaks for itself. The mechanical switch is shifted with one finger. The luminous heating strip on the stand looks stylish. The thermometer is also convenient: there is no need to heat the water once again if it has not cooled down yet. The sound signal is moderately loud, no one is scared. .
Defects
The scale of the water level under the handle is a little inconvenient if you pour water from the tap, but if you pour it from the filter, then it’s normal. These are trifles. The main disadvantage is the high price.

Benefits
Does not leak, does not break, light, visible when it boils.
Defects
A bit noisy. fragile plastic glass on the lid: when washing, it hit the faucet, it went cracked. The replacement cost 1.5 tr. together with the button block on which the cover is held. It was possible, of course, to change only the glass (it is on screws), but, apparently, this is not profitable for the manufacturer.
Comment
I bought a teapot 3 years ago for 6 tr. and very satisfied with it. As they say, there is no demolition and there is nothing to break if you use it carefully. Stylish modern look. Glass and metal – no plastic taste. Scale from tap water is immediately visible, so once a week I boil with citric acid – and as good as new.

I brewed juice in it, it turned out perfect! Multifunctional.

You can choose the most suitable temperature, turn on the heating, or use it not only as a boiler, but also as a teapot, if you pour the tea leaves into the strainer that comes with the kettle. Another pleasure for me was the removable cover. I wanted a teapot with a removable lid, which is practical, because the removable lid can’t be broken with all the desire. It’s nice to feel when the money was well spent. I haven’t brewed tea in it yet, but I’ve brewed cranberry juice, it’s very convenient and you don’t need to filter it, because the pureed berries remain in the strainer, and the drink turns out clean. And in order for it to infuse better, I turn on the heating at 70C, it lasts for an hour, the fruit drink just needs an hour to have time to infuse.

The teapot in the pictures is not even as beautiful as in real life. The color is awesome! Although, it would seem, it is not decorated with any drawings, patterns, etc. but just plain blue, but it plays so beautifully in the rays of the sun! In addition, ceramic means environmentally friendly. Now, apparently, some kind of fashion has gone to such teapots, but I fully support this fashion. No smell! It seems to me that it will not be difficult to wash it either, this plastic is difficult to clean, scale eats right into it, and there should be no problems with ceramics. I have never regretted that I took such a teapot instead of a glass one. I will surprise the guests now, since for many ceramic electric kettles are still a novelty, and for me too, but I am satisfied.

Hello. Of the many colors of this teapot, I chose this white version, in my opinion the most pleasant appearance of this model. In terms of design, I really like it, it seems so modern, but done with a touch of nostalgia, it looks great. I can’t find fault with the operation of the kettle itself, it always works stably, I like that it doesn’t make much noise, well, when water boils. Yes, the water boils pretty quickly. There is no fluff at all. The kettle itself is not very heavy, so pouring water is easy.
Eugene, 09/05/2018
Advantages:
Very beautiful, metallic, while everything works well.
Disadvantages:
Fairly heavy
Comment:
Different from all others that are on sale. Feeling of quality. So far not disappointed
Elizabeth, 06/25/2018
Still got a good quality kettle. For a month of operation, no defects were noticed. Water boils quickly, in a few minutes. In terms of the quality of materials and assembly, everything is at a good level, nothing creaks, the paint used is of high quality. The case is also quite easy to clean, and I didn’t even scratch it in any way. The handle is comfortable and does not get hot when boiling water. The lid is also easy to open and close.
Lyudmila Chaika, 01/13/2018
Advantages:
Larger selection of colors and they are all very bright and glossy
Disadvantages:
Consumes a lot of electricity, but heats up quickly but
Comment:
I want to tell everyone about this kettle. I chose all the appliances for the kitchen, first of all, by style and design, and the kettle is no exception. When I saw this Smeg, I immediately fell in love with him. The style is reminiscent of teapots from the 50s. Not ordinary, that’s its main advantage! Plus bright colors, I just bought pink (well, like a real blonde) and I’m just delighted with it. There are about two liters, which is convenient, just right for our large family.
Exidnaxxx80, 12/10/2017
Advantages:
missing
Disadvantages:
The price for such junk. The list of shortcomings is endless. Over the year of use, a lot of problems have come out. The lid does not close tightly, the rubber gasket does not even save, the steam sucks from under it. big cons, after half a year the lid button began to stick, you almost need to hammer to open or pour water through the spout, which is not at all convenient. Inconvenient placement of the amount of water behind the handle or the lack of scale illumination makes it difficult to see the level. Kapets!
Comment:
For such money, the kettle did not live up to expectations. The Smeg brand is 50 years old, and made in China. Only the view pleases. I do not advise buying.
Anonymous, 12/08/2017
If something happened to your device 3 months after purchase, wouldn’t it be wise to use the warranty card?
Tolkacheva Zoya, 11/26/2017
Advantages:
The price is normal, the quality of the material too.
Comment:
I bought it for myself when it was on sale in one of the stores, so the price completely suited me. I can’t say that there is something mega special in this electric kettle, but there’s nothing bad to say either. The material is solid, the main thing is that it is not plastic. There was no synthetic smell from it (even when it was completely new), unlike other manufacturers (when only vinegar or citric acid helps get rid of the smell). Sufficient volume, maintains the temperature of the water for a long time after boiling.
aton mrjkeaton, 11/23/2017
Advantages:
When I just bought – appearance. All.
Disadvantages:
From the first day I was disappointed with the device of the lid – it is not at all clear for whom it was made – such a crude design. After a couple of months, the paint began to peel off, the letters SMEG fell off – it just looks like tin. As a result, even smelly teapots for 500 rubles are even more reliable. Do not waste your money on this garbage. And the main thing is that you will hand over the figs as a marriage – it seems to work, it just looks like trash.
Comment:
Very disappointed with the quality of testing by SMEG. Well, refrigerators are super, why such a hat with a kettle?
Evgeniya, 28.10.2017
The design is the main feature of this kettle, it looks just unrealistic, the black body is something of course. In terms of work, it works like all other kettles that exist in principle. The water heats up quickly, I am glad that the case is not plastic, but made of stainless steel, because of this, there are no tastes in the water. I really would like to have a larger volume, two liters would be the most. But in general, the impressions of the teapot are positive.
usefuldoc, 10/26/2017
Advantages:
Beautiful, stylish, looks modern.
Disadvantages:
The price is inadequate. The paint on the teapot went bubbling, on the button of the lid, the coating completely fell off. The lid itself opens with a nasty creak.
Comment:
Poor quality, uncomfortable lid, uncomfortable handle.
For the price, the quality should be quite different.
I do not advise anyone.
Daria Olegovna, 10/16/2017
I love the equipment from Smeg because they really try to improve the appearance of the equipment they release. This kettle just clearly fits our entire kitchen, besides, it has such a retro design, it really pleases the eye. The color is pleasant, the kettle itself after 4 months of use still looks like new. The volume is comfortable – not too little, not too much. The water in it does not boil for long, when it boils, the kettle automatically turns off. The handle does not heat up, you can safely pour boiling water into your mug. The body material is made of stainless steel, so you can forget about the unpleasant taste of water. The stand is firmly held and does not tremble, does not budge.
Anonymous, 06.10.2017
Advantages:
Very beautiful, stylish kettle,
Disadvantages:
Build quality! A month later, the spout began to flow, and the lid trembled, brought it to the service, met a girl there with the same kettle, and she also had a lid and the letter fell off.
I filed docks for a replacement, if the second one is of the same quality, I will take the money to choose another kettle.
Comment:
The teapot is beautiful, but the build quality is very poor.
Sagaydak Alexandra, 04.10.2017
Advantages:
Decent teapot, amazing design.
Disadvantages:
No.
Comment:
I think that many kitchen appliances are not as biased as I am. For many, the “stuffing” is important, and not the appearance, in this case, I mean the kettle. I, on the contrary, first of all, choose the design. Of all kitchen appliances, we most often meet with a kettle, which is why it must be perfect, like this Smeg kettle. You won’t find a more worthy one, believe me, I checked, this model is the most successful and has no analogues of its kind. Satisfied, this is my favorite teapot.
Alvina, 02.10.2017
The kettle is what you need. Bought it a month ago. Of the large selection of teapots in your store, we settled on this particular model, I really liked its design, it looks beautiful and very interesting, modern ..) The teapot is roomy, more than one and a half liters, the water inside heats up pretty quickly, a couple of minutes and that’s all, hot water is ready. I like that the kettle turns off immediately if it is empty, otherwise the old kettle was accidentally turned on without water and it burned out .. The kettle itself is also durable, the case is made of steel, it will not break when dropped. In general, the model is what you need, I do not regret the purchase.
Victor, 09/30/2017
The teapot design is top notch. But there are design oversights that are unforgivable for a brand with such a price niche. The main one – the opening mechanism wedges immediately from the moment of purchase. And in the end, you stand like a mentally ill person and poke your finger into the opening button.
Well, if the lid still deigns to open, then the water condensed on the inner surface of the lid will surely drain directly onto the body and handle of the kettle. Was it really impossible to make it a cunning shape, according to which water would flow not to the outer surface, but to the inside? For design 5, for construction 1. On average – 3.
Logacheva Yulia, 09/28/2017
Advantages:
design, color, quiet
Disadvantages:
everything else)
Comment:
I completely agree with the previous reviews, after 3 months it became very difficult to open, the button sinks and to open the kettle, only male help is needed, I just don’t have enough strength) pouring through the neck is completely inconvenient. The rest is still working. Quiet enough.
I think the only plus is the unusual color (we have soft pink). Draws attention in the kitchen.
Anonymous, 08/27/2017
Advantages:
Excellent kettle, heats up quickly, very beautiful appearance and quality materials. I didn’t understand why someone had problems with the lid, I just pressed the button and it opened by itself. It seems that negative reviews are written by those who do not have this kettle.
Disadvantages:
Price
Gulya, 08/25/2017
Pros: Quality, design
Cons: Not found
I am very pleased with the purchase, for almost a year I looked at different models of teapots, but I definitely liked this particular model, it looks very stylish and expensive, thanks to the designers, steel inside, water boils quickly , the cord is not short, the branded inscription is also impressive.
Ekaterina Menshova, 24.08.2017
We have been using this kettle for a long time and in general I have no complaints. The model is made qualitatively and beautifully, I would like to separately say thanks to the designers for such an interesting appearance. The kettle is made of steel, it is not afraid of rust or falls – the quality here is at a high level. The water inside boils pretty quickly, I really didn’t time it, but still))
ldm95, 08/22/2017
Advantages:
Design, color, microlift on the lid
Disadvantages:
Very staggers on the stand, the “legs” on the teapot hang in the air on the stand. For some reason, the cord is gray, the kettle is black, the stand is chrome-colored, it would be logical to make the cord black, gray is out of place.
isBoris, 05/12/2017
Good quality teapot, very comfortable to use and with a beautiful design. I personally like that the base of the kettle is round and in the very center, because of this it is extremely easy to remove and put the kettle in place. The water inside boils quickly. I like that the case is metal, not plastic, in a metal case there are no aftertastes after all. I am also pleased that the handle here is comfortable, it is easy to hold it in your hands, it does not slip at all, everything is done for comfort. The switch is simple, and most importantly durable, switches of this type often break on kettles, but here it is made firmly. 1.7 liters is enough for me. The price, given the quality of the manufacturer, is quite appropriate and deserved even to some extent. Satisfied. Verdict – 5 points
Olga G., 03.03.2017
Advantages:
The teapot is very beautiful and high quality! Virtually silent and heats up quickly! Yes, everything about it is great!
Disadvantages:
no
Comment:
Thank you very much for being you! I will be ordering from you now!
Molchanov Boris, 09. 02.2017
Advantages:
at least that this is a favorite “office” teapot that never failed
Disadvantages:
although “China” is of high quality, but the cost could be thrown off a bit
Comment:
I took this kettle for the office. Considering that we have been using it “for the crowd” for eight months now, it clearly works. It boils quickly and does not cool down at all in five minutes, as others here write. And the fact that the production in China is only a plus. Do not understand – do not make people laugh! High-quality Chinese household appliances are the bestsellers all over the world and are not inferior in quality to other leading manufacturers. Large, the handle is comfortable, the lid fits snugly (we open it back and forth a thousand times a day), stylish design, what else is needed for complete happiness.
Selidov Dmitry, 09. 10.2016
Advantages:
Comfortable handle. Metal, not plastic (for me it was a priority in choosing). Design.
Disadvantages:
Like none.
Comment:
I live by myself, but I often invite friends to visit. I bought a teapot from this company relatively recently, this spring. Now it is an essential attribute of any feast (tea and coffee). I liked that it has a large volume, one teapot is enough for a large company. Stylish design (I took black), it’s also cool, when friends come, they are interested in where they bought it. Who can afford such a kettle for the money, I recommend it, you will not regret it.
Bronishevsky Andrey, 08/06/2016
Advantages:
Large selection of color options, appearance
Disadvantages:
No.
Comment:
I noticed this teapot from my friend, asked him and have been using it myself for more than a year. The kettle is comfortable, the quality is good and quite beautiful and stylish. The case itself is metal, not plastic, so I did not notice any foreign smells and tastes. The handle is comfortable, does not slip and does not heat up. A mesh is provided in case of poor quality water. The switch is durable and will last a long time. The price is certainly higher than other manufacturers, but you have to pay for the quality.
Frolova Raisa, 07/05/2016
When I read negative reviews about this teapot, I always think: “Guys, what else do you need from a teapot ?!”. I have been using it for about a year now, and chose it wisely. For a long time I searched the Internet for a suitable model that would meet my needs. This model fit perfectly. Yes, it certainly costs decently, here the price is a bit high and this is a fact, BUT !!! and there are a lot of advantages: a beautiful design (everyone who comes to visit asks what kind of teapot and where they bought it), it looks rich, as they say. The volume of 1.7 liters is enough for the whole family. Do not believe that the water in this kettle cools down 5 minutes after boiling – this is nonsense, how could such a thing be invented.
Nikolai, 06/21/2016
Smeg kettles have been making me happy for half a year now. Great item with a great design. Looks good and works.) Stainless steel. It looks especially good if the rest of the household appliances are as shiny as we have in the kitchen.
Olya, 06/21/2016
Not a kettle, but just a bomb. The design is amazing, I’ve never seen anything like it. Of course he bribed me in the first place. Well, in terms of quality, smeg didn’t disappoint either – it heats water quickly enough, it doesn’t make noise, it turns off by itself, everything is in the classics of the genre))
Yaruta Oksana, 06/21/2016

Comment:
I like all the Smeg appliances from the Italian manufacturer who are constantly working on improving the appearance. This kettle fits perfectly into our interior, pleases the eye. The color is very pleasant and after six months of use it looks like new. It has enough space for our entire family. Boils quickly, automatic shut-off. After boiling, the handle does not heat up, you can immediately pour boiling water. The stand is reliable, during operation, the kettle does not tremble and does not budge.

Comment:
My students gave me this teapot for my anniversary. I am a teacher at the institute, I didn’t leave a teapot for tea drinking at the department, it was painfully expensive for general use, so I took it home. The kettle is amazing, I’m not quite versed in technical specifications, but as a hostess, I can say that the kettle is good. If it is completely filled with water, it does not boil for a long time. Of course, the price surprised me, I didn’t think it was so expensive, but apparently the materials are not cheap.

AlfaStrakhovanie was fined 460 thousand rubles.
for the requirement to indicate in the application for OSAGO the category CU
The courts considered four cases of refusal in Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk to sell OSAGO, among them were attempts by the owners of a bus and a Mercedes Benz car. In all cases, the courts indicated that if the category of the vehicle is not indicated in the application, then the insurer can establish it from the PTS and STS.

As it became known to the ASN, over the past summer, arbitration courts considered 4 similar cases to bring AlfaStrakhovanie to administrative responsibility for unlawfully refusing to conclude an OSAGO agreement.
In all cases, the refusals were due to the fact that the insurers did not fill in the data on the vehicle category in the application. All four cases occurred in the Siberian Federal District, two of them in Krasnoyarsk, two in Novosibirsk.
So, in Krasnoyarsk, S. personally came to the AlfaStrakhovanie office on Parizhskaya Kommuny Street, brought an application for the conclusion of an OSAGO agreement, his passport, title, driver’s license and a vehicle purchase agreement. However, the insurer notified him that there were no grounds for concluding a contract due to the fact that the category of the vehicle was not indicated and refused to conclude a contract.
At the same time, as follows from the decision, the insured wanted to purchase an OSAGO policy for a PAZ 3204 bus for 15 seats with an unlimited list of persons admitted to driving. The bus owner himself had 1 KBM, indicated in the PCA database.
For a similar reason – the absence of a vehicle category – M was refused in the same office in Krasnoyarsk. However, in this case, the decision did not indicate the vehicle that he wanted to insure.
According to the ranking of the regions of the RAMI, the Krasnoyarsk Territory belongs to the “yellow” zone and ranks 26th among the rest of the country. The Novosibirsk region, according to the same ranking, belongs to the “red” zone and is among the ten problem regions.
The Novosibirsk branch of AlfaStrakhovanie refused to sell the OSAGO policy K. due to the fact that the category of the vehicle and the type of document on its registration were not indicated in the application. At the same time, she wanted to insure a Mercedes Benz passenger car. The driver’s BMR is now 0.85, three people admitted to driving are included in the policy, the ASN found out from the RSA database.
For the same reason – the absence of a vehicle category in the application – P. was refused in the same Novosibirsk branch. However, here, too, the decision does not indicate the vehicle that the applicant wanted to insure.
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation considered the complaints of all insurers and brought AlfaStrakhovanie under all four episodes to administrative responsibility under article 15. 34.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The insurer tried to challenge these rulings in arbitration courts, but was unsuccessful.
The courts acted as a united front and pointed out that the shortcomings indicated by AlfaStrakhovanie do not indicate that the applicants did not comply with the requirements of paragraph 3 of Article 15 of the OSAGO law (this rule lists all the documents that the insured is obliged to provide to conclude a contract – ASN). The insurer can find out data about the vehicle category from other documents submitted by the applicant, the courts indicated.
The courts noted in all cases that the insurer had the opportunity to determine the category of the vehicle independently from the passport and vehicle registration certificate. In the case of S. (Krasnoyarsk), this was not the first time the contract for this car had been concluded, and the insurer had information about the category of the vehicle from previous contracts for a long time.
