Acting legend John Travolta, who’s been gracing our screens since the 1970s, has just sold his stunning waterfront retreat in Clearwater, Florida, for $4 million (£2.8m). Situated just down the road from the Church of Scientology’s Flag building, the plush pad would have been ideally placed for one of the religion’s most famous members. Click or scroll through and let’s take a look around the Pulp Fiction star’s jaw-dropping pad, as well as his other luxurious homes. ..

Modern marvel

Coldwell Banker Residential

John Travolta bought this unique property in November 2017 for $3 million (£2.2m), with his late wife, Kelly Preston, who tragically lost her battle with cancer in July 2020. The crib can be found in the city of Clearwater, Florida, a place that has long attracted celebrities, thanks to its climate, exclusivity and proximity to the Church of Scientology. Now, just a year after losing Kelly, the Grease star has waved goodbye to the waterfront estate.

Plenty of curb appeal

Coldwell Banker Residential

Despite its mid-century modern-style exterior, the gated home was actually built in 1988 and has plenty of curb appeal thanks to its rounded walls and vibrant orange accents. While the garden spans a substantial 1.2 acres, the home’s interior benefits from a generous 4,346 square feet of space, making it perfect for John and his whole family.

Imposing entrance

Coldwell Banker Residential

Described by listing agents Coldwell Banker Residential as an “impeccably streamlined contemporary manse”, this pad has serious wow-factor. Step through the front door and you’re greeted by a wall of glass, offering unobstructed views across the garden and Clearwater Harbor beyond. The spacious entrance gallery leads down to the main open-plan living space that sits at the heart of the home.

Striking and contemporary

Coldwell Banker Residential

The spacious split-level retreat has a striking and contemporary interior after John undertook extensive renovations over the four years that he owned the home. The pad now offers plenty of top-grade materials and finishes, including extra-wide French oak floorboards, sleek plaster walls and Swedish slate tiles.

Meticulously maintained

Coldwell Banker Residential

Every single space has been meticulously maintained and its simple colour palette of white paint, concrete accents and sleek timber allows the colours of the surroundings to do all the talking. Interior design highlights include the home’s panelled ceilings, statement fireplaces and walls of glass.

Ready for hosting

Coldwell Banker Residential

The two-storey family home is filled with natural light and has an easy, airy flow that makes it perfect for hosting. There’s a large living room, a dining zone, a contemporary kitchen, a snug family room and plenty of indoor-outdoor spaces that will enable the lucky new owner to really make the most of Florida’s enviable climate.

Bespoke spaces

The living area leads into the large, bespoke kitchen, which benefits from an L-shaped snack bar, Poggenpohl cabinetry imported from Germany and plenty of countertop space. There’s also a sizeable breakfast room that spills out to the backyard, thanks to floor-to-ceiling sliding doors.

Stunning master suite

Coldwell Banker Residential

The coastal home comes equipped with five bathrooms and five bedrooms, each with harbourside views. The master suite opens up to the garden and benefits from a luxurious quartz-clad ensuite bathroom and an idyllic outdoor terrace.

Blissful backyard

Outside, the estate is just as dreamy. With direct access to the water, the grounds also offer a dining zone, swimming pool, cabana and dock for a speedy getaway. The house lies in close proximity to the homes of other famous Scientologists Tom Cruise and Kirstie Alley, who is one of John’s oldest friends. John originally listed the pad in March 2021 for just under $4.7 million (£3.4m) and it sold in July for $4 million (£2.9m).

John Travolta’s property empire

Aside from his dreamy waterfront enclave, John Travolta has collected his fair share of homes over the years. Born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey, the Oscar-nominated actor had fairly humble beginnings but rose to stardom playing Tony Manero in the 1977 hit Saturday Night Fever. Thought to be worth a staggering $250 million (£179m), he’s snapped up an array of stunning residences during his career, from a sprawling island retreat in Maine, to a custom-built house with its very own airport. Let’s take a look…

John Travolta’s Maine island estate

Sotheby’s International Realty

In February 2021, John Travolta placed his traditional island home on the market. The extensive hideaway, off the coast of Maine, belonged to the legendary actor for 20 years. John and Kelly, who were newlyweds when they purchased the property in 1991, knew the retreat would be the perfect place to escape the hubbub of Hollywood.

The private island paradise was John and Kelly’s first purchase as a married couple. They met during the filming of the 1989 comedy The Experts, in which they both starred. John proposed to Kelly on New Year’s Eve in 1991 and they tied the knot nine months later in Paris, under the Church of Scientology. They remained together for 30 years, making them one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples.

Inside, the 10,830-square-foot retreat is colourful and cosy. Though the sum they paid for the property is a mystery, the couple openly discussed transforming it from dark and sombre, to bright and beautiful. For the overhaul they played interior designers, browsing magazines for inspiration. They settled on an English country house theme and spent a few months camping out in a small farmhouse on the estate while they carried out the work. In May 1999, the house featured in Architectural Digest.

Built in 1903 by architects Peabody and Stearns, the house benefits from plenty of classic architectural details, including rustic stone fireplaces, gilded light fixtures, Tudor Revival sash windows and characterful timber trims. Every room offers linen draperies and damask and velvet upholstery, as well as cottage décor that was partly influenced by the home’s coastal setting. Travolta told Architectural Digest that he had always wanted a house big enough for hosting at Christmastime…

So, as the holidays approached in 1991, the couple worked tirelessly to get the place in shape before all 50 members of their joint family arrived – and with 42 rooms, the home had more than enough space to accommodate them. John revealed that back in 1991 they were “delirious” by Christmas week, but as the family began arriving, they knew their hard work had been worth it. John took to social media in July 2019 to share a snap of his family enjoying dinner at the property.

After their first Christmas in the house, the couple hired esteemed interior designer Christopher Boshears to perfect their work. The renowned decorator added plenty of colour to the house, opting for a palette of yellows, pinks and greens throughout. The kitchen, which was one of the first rooms that John and Kelly changed, is perhaps the home’s most appealing space thanks to its seemingly endless windows, chic light fixtures, stainless steel appliances and wooden accents.

The Shingle-style house boasts 20 bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The master suite, with its vibrant colour scheme and opulent furnishings, certainly offers a unique cosiness. As well as a wall of windows, it comes with an ensuite, walk-in wardrobe, fireplace and jaw-dropping views. The home is filled with eclectic furnishings that John and Kelly acquired when they bought the place. “The house was already full of English antiques,” John told Architectural Digest in the 90s. “Thirty percent of which we refurbished and still use.

The home’s exterior is just as impressive. Nestled on over 48 acres of land, the estate is mere moments from the water and features a deep water dock on Sabbathday Harbor, idyllic woodland trails, a swimming pool and beach access. There’s also a detached barn where John once stored all of his favourite cars. From drab to dream, John Travolta’s life-long home could now be yours, provided you have $4.25 million (£3m) in the bank. Sotheby’s International Realty has all the details you need.

After purchasing their Maine retreat in 1991, John Travolta and Kelly Preston set about tracking down a home in the heart of Los Angeles. The couple finally picked up this two-acre estate in 1997, paying about $3.5 million (£2. 5m) for the privilege. Located in the prestigious celebrity hotspot of Brentwood, where the likes of LeBron James and Gwyneth Paltrow live, the pad was perfect for a Hollywood power couple.

Built in 1949, the home typifies the architecture of the area and although we can’t step inside, we can reveal a few facts about the palatial spread. The Spanish-style home features 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and a gym, as well as two garages, a tennis court and a lagoon-style swimming pool. According to the Los Angeles Times, it also has beamed ceilings and tiled floors, much in keeping with the couple’s other purchases.

In January 2020, the couple quietly sold the estate for a whopping $18 million (£13m), meaning they made an absolute killing on their initial investment. The new owner was none other than Scooter Braun, Justin Bieber’s millionaire talent manager. Scooter reportedly also owns the 11,100-square-foot property directly next door, which suggests he could be snapping up land to create a private mega-estate.

In 2001, 10 years after buying their first home together, John and Kelly purchased a sizable lot in Jumbolair Aviation Estates, an exclusive fly-in community in Anthony, Florida. They set about building themselves a 6,600-square-foot concrete and glass home with a mid-century influence. For airplane fanatic John, this luxurious estate had plenty of benefits…

You might already be aware that John Travolta is an experienced pilot. He’s even the Ambassador-at-Large for Qantas Airways and regularly flies planes for them. A serious bonus, the fly-in estate offered the Gotti actor several private runways, as well as plenty of storage for his beloved Boeing 707.

Living at Jumbolair gave John access to a 7,545-foot-long runway that cost a reported $10 million (£7.2m) to build, as well as a separate 3,599-foot-long lighted grass runway. During another interview with Architectural Digest in 2004, John and Kelly showed off their mid-century-style home and in some of the images you can see his numerous airplanes sitting comfortably in the front yard. It’s clear there are some home features that only money can buy…

Then, in 2019, 10 years after John Travolta and Kelly Preston lost their eldest son, Jett, who suffered a fatal seizure while the family was holidaying in the Bahamas, the couple purchased yet another home. This time they bought in the sought-after Californian city of Calabasas, a celebrity hotspot where the likes of Will Smith and the Kardashians live. Tragically, Kelly passed away only a year later in 2020, though John continues to spend time at the property with his family.

The sprawling Mediterranean-style villa set the Face/Off star back just shy of $2.7 million (£1.9m) and offers 7,500 square feet of inside space. Built in the mid-1990s, the property sits on a secluded community estate with 24-hour guarded gates. Spanning two floors, it offers six bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as spacious and free-flowing living areas that boast dazzlingly high ceilings. Many of the rooms also benefit from cross-canyon mountain views.

John and his family saw lockdown out in the pad too. In January 2021, he took to Instagram to share a sweet snap with his new puppy, Jinx, whom he introduced to his fans in a New Year’s post just days before. During the restrictions, the movie mega-star also took to social media to share funny dance videos with his children, Ella and Benjamin Travolta, giving us insight into how one of our favourite celebrities has been spending lockdown.

The perfect place to see out a global pandemic, the stylish villa is light-filled, airy and wonderfully homely. Much like John’s long-time Maine vacation home, his Calabasas villa is traditional and laid-back, with plenty of soft furnishings and classical architectural details, such as full-height fireplaces, tiled floors and timber built-in cabinetry.

Many of the property’s beautiful rooms also come equipped with stunning vaulted ceilings decorated with natural wood beams – there’s no chance of feeling claustrophobic here. In total, the villa offers six bedrooms and six bathrooms, plus parking for eight cars, but sadly no airplanes!

Outside, there’s plenty to keep an A-lister occupied during quarantine. The leafy landscaped garden spans half an acre and comes equipped with an array of outdoor living spaces, including a covered patio with a fireplace and grilling station. There’s also an infinity-edge swimming pool and spa, where lazy days in the sun can be savoured. While he seems in no hurry to up sticks from this dreamy pad, we can’t wait to see what John Travolta snaps up next!

Bags in check? Get whisked away to Hollywood legend John Travolta’s authentic airport estate near Ocala, Florida. Located in residential airpark, Jumbolair Aviation Estate, the home stretches nearly 7,000 square feet. It sits on about 9.5 acres, including a 7,500-foot runway that has been extended to Travolta’s backdoor, along with two airplane parking pavilions. The “Grease” star and his late wife, Kelly Preston, purchased the property for $3.5 million in 2001. The famous couple was one of the first residents to buy within the fly-in community, which contains about 550 acres of lush Florida country in the small town of Anthony just north of Ocala.

With the Golden Globe winner’s airplanes as a top priority, the mid-century style home features five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, a swimming pool with an indoor cabana and bar, a private control center, and a 16-car garage. Travolta’s real estate portfolio is extensive, and includes places in Clearwater, Florida and Brentwood, California. Currently, he owns the airport manor and a Mediterranean-style villa in Calabasas, which he purchased for $2.7 million in 2019, per Love Property. Last year, he listed his traditional Maine island estate for $5 million, which he bought with Preston in 1991. Read on to learn more about Travolta’s airport estate!

A pilot’s dream come true — Travolta’s lush, green land was once owned by socialite and equestrian Muriel Vanderbilt and has evolved into the exclusive property it is today. Travolta’s exterior reveals a functioning airport with two designated parking bays for his Gulfstream jets. With an extended taxiway, there’s ample room for the superstar’s aircraft collection to dwell or take flight. Among the multiple airplanes he has owned, a few notable ones include a USAir Boeing 707, Boeing 707-138, and a Bombardier Challenger 601, and he’s an active pilot ambassador for Qantas Airways per Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

Designed by architect Dana Smith, the front exterior exudes a corporate appearance. The thick concrete structure of the home is white throughout, with Grecian-like columns and an array of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which are mostly found on the backside of the home. With the hangar, pool, and hot tub located in the back, Travolta has said that it is his favorite space in the house. The serene resort-like area has a slide and an open patio space, and a dance floor decorated with beautiful stonework flooring adjacent to the “grown-up playroom” or cabana with a bar that resembles a vintage airport lounge, per Closer Weekly. With crisp, clean designs throughout, there are also several balconies visible on the backside of the house.

Travolta became forever captivated with airplanes at a young age, and he achieved his pilot license by age 22. He accomplished his longtime dream of housing planes in his yard, and the concept of aviation is present throughout the mansion. With class and sophistication, Travolta’s interior is like stepping into the Pan Am era of the 1960s. The entrance hall floor was designed by the “Gotti” star himself, according to Architectural Digest, with a magnificent nautical compass image centered. The hall also features various model airplanes displayed on a long wood cabinet.

With custom hardwood floors and recessed lighting, much of the home’s interior encapsulates aeronautics through the artwork, like a 1989 painting of Travolta’s Learjet or the plethora of glass windows designed specifically for viewing the parked planes from most any room, per The Richest. Described as the “great room,” this space is like a vintage travel lounge, showcasing vast, curved window walls with long blue curtains tied back and two double doors that lead directly to the tarmac. The cozy room is decorated with sophisticated furniture covered in various patterned fabrics by Schumacher, Duralee, and Greeff. The actor doesn’t hide the fact that the property is as eccentric as he is. Above the black marble-like fireplace mantel is a framed 1967 artwork by Alexander Calder.

What it’s like to stay at Travolta’s luxurious airport mansion

Youtube

With design plans established over six years, the actual construction only took two to complete, according to Architectural Digest. Like a scene from the 2002 film “Catch Me If You Can,” the home undeniably extends the invitation to fly the blue skies like in the spectacular formal dining area. The room is stunning, with its gigantic mural from a 1937 “Fortune” magazine advertisement, copied by artist Sandra Hilliard, depicting a 1950s family waiting at the airport.

There are two main kitchens, one for every day and another for light fare. One features an open concept with floating wood shelves, white walls with a yellow divider wall, and gray countertops with handless cabinetry, as seen on Instagram. With an array of adjoining bedrooms and bathrooms, the master is a homey and serene escape with elegant crème-colored drapery fabric by Pindler and Pindler, brown wood cabinetry, and rose gold-colored carpeting. The master bathroom is elegant and modern with translucent shower tiles, a floating double sink, marble flooring, and a framed “Pulp Fiction” poster on the wall. There’s also a large guest house and a bed and breakfast quarters where pilots and guests can recuperate. Wherever Travolta flies, he’s sure to have his cabin mates aboard, daughter Ella (22) and Benjamin (12), and a homey place to land.

Hollywood legend John Travolta has a luxurious mansion not by the airport, but right in it.

American actor, singer, producer and dancer John Travolta has had a very successful career through the years and amassed $250 million of net worth. The actor who starred in prominent films such as Grease, Pulp Fiction, and Hairspray has had successful career but experienced a downfall in career after some setbacks have impacted his career. After enjoying fame and success in the 1970s, the next decade of his life diminished as his career declined in the 1980s. Thankfully, he was able to stay alive and rise again after his film Staying Alive became a commercial success and grossed over $65 million.

Since he was able to make a successful comeback in the entertainment industry, his success continued and even now, he is among the most well-known actors in Hollywood. He is also very good with money as he was able to create a great portfolio of properties. John Travolta’s Mansion Inside Jumbolair Aviation Estates

The property is located inside the private-use airport Jumbolair Aviation Estates in Florida which is situated on the Greystone Airport. The community is on the aviation land which allows the homeowners to easily land their planes which includes the Hairspray actor’s Boeing 707 airliner. The property boasts the private runway in the country. The community can effortlessly taxi up their jets to their homes. Since the John Travolta has had numerous successful movies, he was able to pay $4.9 million to own the land and has listed the property up for sale last 2019 for $10. 5 million. The 550 acres of land includes a 3,600 ft runway, 7,600 sq ft mansion which used to be the mansion of horse breeder Muriel Vanderbilt, 8,700 sq ft conference center and about seventeen unsold estate that also have the same runway access.

The first people to purchase a land on the residential airpark Jumbolair Aviation Estates are John Travolta and his late wife Kelly Preston. The couple was reportedly among the first residents of the community which caters to people who desire a fly in and fly out access. They decided to buy the land in the estate because the actor is an enthusiast and also a certified private pilot. The couple currently has five aircraft and a massive 16 car garage which makes for his house to have two runways which lead directly to the main door of their house. The house was specifically designed for their jets and also to have a direct access to the world and John Travolta believes that they have succeeded to achieve that.

During the 1980s, Arthur Jones who is the inventor of Nautilus exercise equipment bought the land of the Vanderbilt estate which included the Vanderbilt’s 7,700 sq ft home as well as the 450 surrounding acres. Arthur Jones then proceeded to develop the site where he built the paved runway for his charter Boeing 707s and added about 88,730 sq ft of warehouse and some manufacturing complex. He also added a 400 seater banqueting hall and a space for the refuge of the African wildlife. There was a point in time where some orphaned elephants, crocodiles, and a 600 pound Gorilla named Mickey lived inside the compound.

When Jones and his late wife decided to separate ways in 1989, his wife decided to institute the Jumbolair property and made it as a fly-in community for the private jet owners which attracted the attention of John Travolta and his late wife. Initially, the property was developed for 38 homes of which 21 lots have been sold. There is an almost 1.5-mile-long main runway which costs around $6 million to build and measured about 210 feet wide which was supposedly designed just to accommodate Arthur Jones’ 747 Jumbo.

A Midcentury-Style Mansion

According to the Pulp Fiction actor, he cannot describe their home modern as it is really a midcentury themed home. The house Travolta shares with his late wife actress Kelly Preston is designed by Southern California based Michael James Design Team headed by Sherri James. According to the designer of the mansion, the actor had a vision of what he wants in the property and all they needed to do was to implement his ideas and turn it into reality. The house has the vintage Thunderbird located on the front drive of their residence which was designed by the architect of the house, Dana Smith. The construction of the house took time and lasted for two years however the planning of the entire estate happened on and off for about six years. The couple basically had to move into the guest quarters just so they can supervise the makings of their mansion. It has always been John Travolta’s dream to have planes parked on his front yard and he just wanted to make it happen. He wanted it like that just so he can just step out of their front door and get on the plane to get dinner wherever. This is all possible since their estate came with a 7,500 ft runway which they can utilize anytime.

John Travolta‘s home is impressive in more ways than one. Aside from having its very own airport, the Grease actor’s Florida estate is nearly 7,000 square feet and sits on more than 19.5 acres. It’s time for you to see photos inside!

The Welcome Back, Kotter alum, as well as his late wife, Kelly Preston, shelled out $3. 5 million for the massive pad, according to Velvet Ropes. Although it’s unclear exactly when John and the Jerry Maguire actress purchased the incredible property, it appears they moved in around the late 1990s, per Architectural Digest.

The Golden Globe winner resides in the midcentury house in the Ocala area with their two kids, Ella and Ben. The residence features five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, spacious living areas and a luxurious backyard fitted with a pool. The dwelling also boasts multiple balcony patios.

We already mentioned John’s home comes with its very own airport, but it’s important to highlight how incredible the setup truly is. Not only does the estate include more than a 7,500-foot runway, but John also has enough space for two planes.

Considering the Hollywood hunk earned his private pilot’s license at age 22 and has been flying countless types of planes ever since, it’s no surprise he constructed an airport in his backyard. “You can be the ultimate eccentric, like I am, and bring in a 707,” he told Architectural Digest in 2005. “But you can also bring in any corporate jet or airliner.”

In his home, the Saturday Night Fever star has an area dedicated to his aviation achievements. According to the outlet, his office features his Qantas 747 pilot certificate, his American Airlines Boeing 707 pilot certificate and an award for excellence in aviation from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

No matter how much John loves his planes, though, his favorite area of the house is the backyard. Because the Pulp Fiction alum adored serenading his beloved wife — who died following a two-year battle with breast cancer at age 57 in July 2020 — on the dance floor, he made sure his patio had enough room for them to make memories at home.

“The pool cabana is a grown-up playroom,” one of the designers told Architectural Digest. “John wanted to use it for dancing, which is why it has a big open space and stone flooring.

John Travolta House & 9 Other Fascinating Revelations!

Most known for his phenomenal roles in incredibly successful films, including Pulp Fiction, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Hairspray, and From Paris With Love, John Travolta is one of the most recognizable actors in the world. He rose to fame in the mid-70’s and soon found his love for real estate and airplanes! Here we’ve broken down all the details of John Travolta house.

Where Is John Travolta’s House?

John Travolta’s house is located in Ocala, Florida, a short hour and a half drive outside of Orlando. The home is located in the Jumbolair Aviation Estate, which is a residential airpark. Along with his stunning wife Kelly Preston, the pair was one of the first couples to ever purchase land on the air estate.

The 550-acre community, which is situated at Greystone Airport, was primarily built for residents who wanted to be able to fly in and out as they pleased. Can you say rich!?

Where Does John Travolta Live?

Bought for $3.5 million, John Travolta’s house in Florida is, well let’s just say, out of the ordinary. I mean, how many people do you know that have two runways in their yard? Yep, two airplane runways that meet right at his front door. While it may not look like much, aesthetically speaking, this airport / house combo is a pilot’s paradise for sure!

Aerial View of Travolta’s Florida home.

One of the runways was originally built at 7,500 feet, but John decided to extend that so that the end of it would reach the front of the house. As a professional pilot, Travolta likes to spend his spare time away from acting, flying. So what better place to reside than an airfield?!

The house is complete with the main living area, known as the great room, that features tall curved walls and ceiling to floor windows that provide panoramic views of the front yard, and his legendary Boeing 707 parked out front in plain sight.

As well as a large guest house, a pool, and a vast array of adjoining bedrooms and bathrooms, there is even a private control center and a bed and breakfast quarters where pilots and other guests and prospective homeowners are able to stay for a night or two. Oh, and not to mention 16 garages for his collection of cars!

Travolta says, “We designed the house for the jets and have access to the world at a moment’s notice.” Nice.

Anyway, John dismissed the outrageous claim that he was a) gay and b) having an affair, saying that that was how he would greet any friend of his.

But a similar story surfaced a few years later in 2014, which claimed John and a former pilot and friend of the star, Doug Gotterba, said that he and John had been engaging in a long-term affair. John denied the claims yet again, saying that it was all a facade, and stories such as this are how the media make their money. So, unfortunately, our answer to this question? We’re not sure, but there certainly have been some shifty stories. But really, who cares!?

John Travolta Selling $5 Million Home He Bought With Kelly Preston

  • John Travolta is selling his $5 million Maine home, People reports.
  • The actor bought it with his late wife, Kelly Preston, shortly after their 1991 wedding.
  • Travolta also owns multimillion-dollar homes in Florida and California.

LoadingSomething is loading.

Eight months after Kelly Preston’s death, her husband John Travolta is selling the multimillion-dollar Maine home the couple bought shortly after their 1991 wedding, People reports.

The 10,000-square-foot oceanfront property is on the market for $5 million. It is located in Islesboro, an island off the coast of Maine, and about 50 miles south of the city of Bangor.

Photos of the property on the listing website show massive lawns and forests surrounding the home, which has 20 bedrooms (including a master suite with its own private porch) and 7.5 bathrooms. Three of the home’s bedrooms were built specifically for children with themes like “princess” and “airplane,” according to the listing.

The home also has an office, library, laundry room, pool, schoolhouse, bar, walk-in pantry, and more elaborate features like a fully-equipped stage for children. The rooms are painted with bright shades, like yellow and green, and many of them have floral wallpaper.

The listing adds that the house “has been beautifully maintained and totally redecorated by the current owner.”

Brian Wickenden, an agent with luxury real-estate agency Sotheby’s, has the listing.

Preston and Travolta spent two months redecorating the house themselves

Preston and Travolta told Architectural Digest’s Nancy Collins in 1999 that they were inspired to buy the home after a trip to visit the sprawling “Kennedy-compound-style” Islesboro home of their friend and Travolta’s “Look Who’s Talking” costar, Kirstie Alley. Alley sold her own 21-bedroom Islesboro property in April 2020.

According to the same Architectural Digest feature, the home was originally built in 1903 for a wealthy banking family and was designed by the prominent Boston-based architecture firm Peabody and Stearns.

While the house was what Travolta and Preston were looking for in terms of scale, the couple did extensive redecorating. “John and I came in and redid everything — carpets, furniture — in cream and eggshell. If you need to do it quickly, go white,” Preston told Collins.

The makeover took a “sixty-day marathon,” according to Travolta. The couple didn’t have to start entirely from scratch, however, as he noted that the home came with English antiques that they refurbished and used.

Down the line, they also worked with interior designer Christopher Boshears, Collins wrote, to turn the property into their family home.

Travolta reportedly owns several other multimillion-dollar homes across the country

Travolta has been very active in the real-estate market in recent years, with a number of reported high-profile sales and purchases in Florida and California.

In September 2019, the actor bought a $2.65 million Mediterranean villa in Calabasas, California. Variety reported at the time of the purchase that the 7,500-square-foot home has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, an eight-car garage, a formal living room, library, gym, and spa.

A few months after that purchase, the Los Angeles Times reported that Travolta had sold his Brentwood home for $18 million to a trust tied to Scooter Braun. Braun, an investor and talent executive, is best known for managing pop megastars Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

Outside of California, the Tampa Bay Times reported in 2017 that the actor may have purchased a home in Clearwater, Florida, only about a mile away from the Scientology headquarters in that city, citing a $3 million sale tied to a trust linked to Ellen Bannon, who is Travolta’s sister. Travolta has been a practicing Scientologist since at least the 1970s.

According to the Miami Herald, Preston died at the couple’s Clearwater home. The actress, best known for her roles in “Jerry Maguire” and “What a Girl Wants,” died in July after a two-year-long battle with breast cancer.

Architectural Digest also profiled a different Florida home belonging to Travolta and Preston in 2004, located farther north in Ocala. The six-bedroom home came with a highly unusual feature — an airplane runway, which was undoubtedly a major selling point for Travolta, a licensed pilot. Jumbolair, the gated community in which it’s located, went on the market for $10. 5 million in 2019.

John Travolta’s Airport Home. How does a famous actor live? | RotorAvia

Hollywood’s most extraordinary actor John Travolta became the first owner of a land plot located on the territory of a residential airport. Such a strange choice was made for a reason, because he not only owns five aircraft, but is also a certified pilot. And now, when the construction of the mansion has ended, at the main entrance of the Travolta house you can often see a “parked” liner, on which a celebrity can easily go even on the farthest journey.

John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston became the first owners of a piece of land on a residential airport purchased from Jumbolair Aviation Estates in Florida. It was from then that the “fun life” of the couple began with their own personal runway and taxiway laid directly to the front entrance of the mansion.

John’s House is a functional airport with a runway for his private jets.

The famous Hollywood actor made such a strange choice for a reason, he just realized the dream of his life. “John has always dreamed of having planes parked in his front yard so he could practically taxi up to the house – so when you want to have dinner, all you have to do is walk out the door, get in the cockpit and take off “,” says John’s beloved wife Kelly Preston.

And it’s true, the celebrity, being a 5-year-old boy, “fell ill” with the sky and did everything possible so that his passion for aviation would not remain an unrealizable dream. As soon as the opportunity arose, he took pilot courses and received a certificate as a Qantas 747 and American Airlines Boeing 707 pilot.

The mansion (2.2 sq. km.) has aircraft pavilions and its own flight control center on the grounds of the mansion.

The outstanding actor even has an award for excellence in aviation from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In addition to all the regalia and permits, John owns five aircraft, but the actor’s greatest pride is a restored 1964 Qantas Boeing 707-138B.

For this reason, the designers who collaborated with the actor did not even try to resist and impose fashionable stylistic ideas, claiming that John already had a vision of how he wanted things to be, and they just implemented his ideas.

The design style of the main part of the mansion, reaching a height of 16 meters, is difficult to determine, because everything is subject to the aviation theme. It was possible to identify 3 architectural directions: the classic American, air navigation style of the airport in Dallas, and also found similarities with the design of TWA terminals.

As the owners themselves admit, even though there are 14 rooms in the house, the most favorite place is the kitchen, because Travolta loves to eat delicious food, that’s why Kelly says that in their house “all roads lead to the kitchen.”

Almost all the walls of each of them serve as a place for exhibiting interesting photographs, world maps, certificates, diplomas and romantic paintings, which invariably have an aviation theme.

This is especially noticeable in John’s own office, on the walls of which there are photographs that reveal not only his creative path, but also the path of a pilot, which he dreamed of all his life.

Rest by the pool is a favorite pastime of the entire star family.

According to the wife, the owner of the mansion, the house should be comfortable: “For children to play on the sofa, watch TV, communicate with us, they love it, because it is a funny house. We have a large swimming pool, a golf course… we are a family that enjoys an active life” . Looking at the interior of the entire mansion, it is easy to guess that the spouses in its design were able to realize all their dreams and desires, and as a result, the whole family was satisfied and happy.

From John Travolta to Moscow: the famous Italian brand Aeronautica Militare entered the Russian market

In November, the first in Russia corner of the Italian clothing, footwear and accessories brand Aeronautica Militare opened in the Moscow Columbus shopping center. Now customers will be able to come to the store and choose their favorite premium brand items. Before, jumpers, shirts, sweatshirts and other products could only be purchased via the Internet. We talked to company representatives and found out why Moscow is an important strategic city for the brand, what to bet on, attracting new customers, and how famous actor John Travolta became a fan of Aeronautica Militare.

Paolo Sperotto, CEO Cristiano di Thiene, exclusive manufacturer of the Aeronautica Militare brand:

— Do you consider Moscow an important strategic city? What steps will you take next after opening the corner?

— Yes, we consider Moscow to be a strategically important city and plan to open new stores and corners in 2017.

We already have interesting offers from clients, we study and analyze the sites, because we are very attentive to the positioning of our brand. In our opinion, Moscow has great potential for development, as Russians are increasingly interested in brands that are different and have their own special identity. In addition, Moscow has always been and will always be the commercial and cultural center of Russia, therefore, for us, Moscow is a prestigious platform in the eastern market.

— How do you attract new customers? What are you betting on?

— It is very important not just to attract a buyer, but to win his trust. In the production of clothing, the latest innovative achievements in textiles are used, the quality of things is constantly being improved. Also, customers are attracted by the exclusivity of the brand, all things have a semantic load, convey emotions to the consumer, carry cultural and historical information. The decorative elements used in the collections are original. It is these insignia worn and worn by the pilots of the Italian Air Force.

Recently, we have decided to implement several trends in the men’s collection. Today, our men’s collection is divided into 4 semantic parts, which allow us to satisfy any needs of our consumer. This is the “urban” direction, which allows you to wear Aeronautica Militare (hereinafter AM – ed. ) clothes to the office and to official events. In this direction, a minimum of logos is used, they are made in the color of the product and are almost invisible. The “classic” direction is AM with many logos and embroideries, a very noticeable and bright line. The “celebrity” direction is also very bright and stylish, this line uses logos, patches and the history of individual squadrons of the Italian Air Force.

Plus, we are currently working on new models and fabrics for a special capsule – Reparto Sperimentale Volo. Finished in black, it is dedicated to the unit responsible for the testing and testing of all aircraft and flying structures of the Italian Air Force.

— Among the fans of the brand there are a huge number of movie and show business stars. Have you already met Russian stars who are in love with AM? Do you plan to attract Russian stars for advertising?

– The brand’s clothing often appears in Hollywood blockbusters and has long won the hearts of world-famous actors and actresses such as John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, Adrien Brody, Michelle Clooney. The Dress Point multi-brand store has opened in Moscow, featuring AM menswear, leather goods and legendary patches replicating the emblems and insignia of the Italian Air Force.

Russian stars, including Andrey Chadov, Artem Tkachenko, Fedor Klimov, Mahib Gladstone, Sergey Chirkov, came to the opening and appreciated the quality and design of clothes. The brand is open for cooperation, at the moment we are looking for a Russian ambassador.

— What plans does the legendary brand have for the upcoming 2017? And are there plans for the words “Russia” and “Moscow”?

– The brand has big plans for both the Italian and foreign markets. We continue to open mono-brand stores at the airports of the most beautiful and significant cities in Italy. In 2017, it is planned to open at least 7 stores worldwide. Of course, the words “Moscow” and “Russia” are present on the AM strategic map in 2017. I repeat, we have already planned the opening of new stores and corners in Moscow and a number of corners in Russia. And in August we will take part in the MAKS-2017 air show.

Andrea Longhi, Artistic Director of Aeronautica Militare Menswear:

— What clothes are presented in the opened corner?

— Part of the men’s collection: outerwear, trousers, polos, sweatshirts, t-shirts and accessories.

— Are there any features of the product for the Russian audience?

– Not at the moment, but we are studying this issue and from next season there will definitely be something specifically for the Russian market. Now we are analyzing the requests of the Russian buyer, developing new patterns, adjusting the technical characteristics of products, and considering expanding the range of warm winter clothes.

– What does your customer look like? Draw his portrait.

– AM’s ideal customer is a male between the ages of 35 and 75. He is young at heart, bold and courageous, loves risk and freedom, prefers to stand out from the crowd. He takes care of his wardrobe, loves comfortable, high-quality and stylish clothes.

— Do you produce women’s clothing?

— Yes, of course. Our women’s collection is also very interesting and bright, it certainly deserves the attention of Russian fashionistas!

— Do you have a children’s collection?

Yes. Our little client is a boy who exactly repeats his father. We offer sweatshirts, jackets, trousers, just like dad’s. We take samples of men’s clothing and cut them down to child size. But starting next summer, we want to expand the children’s collection by adding other looks.

— How do ideas for a new collection come about?

– Our collection is mainly inspired by the AM brand itself, our logo is the logo of the Italian Air Force. The sign “cockade” – a sight – is presented on all military aircraft, as well as aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Each squadron has its own defining signs. It can be animal symbols: panthers, wolves, tigers. Or old comics. Each unit has its own history, its own symbol. We take this symbol as a basis, make its graphic processing in the fashion style and use it in the collection. At the same time, we not only offer stylized symbols, but also tell customers the story of each of the presented air squadrons: we give a description of the symbol, explain why it was used.

– Is your brand also available in online stores?

— Yes, you can buy our products at the Lamoda store. This is our key client.

– Are there fakes? And how do you identify them?

– Our products have special labels – this is a patented development of an Italian company. Translucent this label with a special lamp, you can understand the original product or not – in a certain place there must be a certain sign.

— And how can an ordinary buyer distinguish a fake from the original?

— Our labels are special even to the ordinary eye, they simply cannot be counterfeited. It is more difficult to find a fake than the original.

– Which stars are involved in the brand’s advertising campaigns?

– Every market has its stars. For example, showman Rosario Fiorello is very popular in Italy, he represents the face of the brand, participates in advertising campaigns. There are actors who represent AM in South Africa, China. Historically, our main stars are Bruce Willis and John Travolta. These are people who love the sky, love to fly. Travolta originally came to the store and bought our jacket, he liked the brand. The company gave him a few things and he began advertising AM. The actor is a fan of our brand, he likes our clothes.
