How to choose the color of the wallpaper for the bedroom
What is called “the mood of the room” to a greater extent creates the color of the walls.

Psychology of color
The effect of colors on the human psyche has long been well studied by science. Greens are known to be calming, while reds are energizing. But what about blue, yellow, brown and other colors? It is good for the kitchen, dining room, but obviously not for the bedroom, where we are looking for peace and relaxation.

For the bedroom, it fits on a solid four. To the ideal, he lacks one point, withdrawn for the cold. Warm or neutral colors are preferred for the bedroom. They will create a cozy atmosphere. Brown shades on the “temperature” scale are closer to warmth than blue and green. This includes a wide range of colors – from light beige to dark brown. Violet – the color of meditation – a special state in which a person is in a kind of trance. The effect it has does not contradict the criteria of the bedroom, so you can choose this color. True, it is a little chilly, so some people may not feel comfortable in the purple bedroom.
Exceptions to the rules
Although red is exciting, it can be used in the bedroom. The fact is that under artificial lighting, red fades significantly, turning into a brownish one. By placing the lamps in a certain way, you can achieve this effect, the red bedroom becomes almost brown in the evening.
The coldest color is white. But the white walls in the bedroom will not make it uncomfortable. Previously, designers were afraid to create white bedrooms, but today they have reconsidered their views. White goes well with all possible colors. This is a versatile companion.
The most popular colors in the bedroom
Perhaps the king of bedroom colors is burgundy. This color is great for the walls in the room we sleep in. Burgundy can be combined with gold, chrome, as well as gray, black, white and brown. But today, more and more often the bedroom is made bright, using the so-called linen palette. And burgundy, red, yellow are used as color accents. Beige, brown, chocolate are the colors of a restrained style. For the bedroom, they fit very well and because of this they are also among the favorites. The colors of the earth do not irritate, but on the contrary, they pacify and soothe.
Buffy shades bring warmth, but very moderately.
Terracotta, brick, the color of raw clay create a relaxed, but at the same time not oppressive atmosphere. They can also be considered as options for bedroom walls.
The most fashionable bedroom colors
Interior fashion is as changeable as any other. It is set by designers, showing their work at exhibitions, publishing them in fashion magazines and on the Internet. So, today in the bedroom trend of the shed palette, coffee color and even black. So that the bedroom does not become too gloomy from these colors, they are diluted with contrasting shades.
Recently, the concept of “accent wall” has appeared in the interior concept. This is when one of the walls in the room is highlighted with decor or color. Do the same in the bedroom. It is fashionable to use black or anthracite as the background of an accent wall. These colors are effectively combined with metallic paints: gold, bronze, copper, silver. Colors “incompatible” with the bedroom
Due to the stimulating effect in the bedroom, bright colors on large surfaces should be avoided. Yellow, orange, rich pink, turquoise, bright red – these colors are definitely not conducive to relaxation. It is possible that there are people who will feel good, for example, in an orange bedroom.
Therefore, if you really want, you can use bright colors. But you need to be 100% sure that this choice is dictated by the individual characteristics of color perception. People who like everything bright, calm colors in the bedroom can be oppressive.
They can also consider white for the bedroom as an option.
Cardinal directions
The natural lighting of the bedroom indirectly affects the choice of the color of the walls in the bedroom. The fact is that it will change depending on the orientation of the windows to the cardinal points. If the windows face west, then in the morning the sun’s rays will not enter the room at all. To prevent the awakening from being gloomy, you can use brighter colors in such a bedroom, such as brick, terracotta, peach, pale coral, as well as white or pale yellow.
The northern side receives the least amount of light, especially in winter. A bedroom with windows facing north is also best decorated in warm colors. If the bedroom windows face south or west, then the walls in it can be “cool” colors. In such a bedroom, a gray and beige palette looks good. The rays of the setting sun are dominated by a warm spectrum.
Cool colors on the walls, mixing with the reddish light penetrating from the other side of the window, become gloomy.
To avoid this, it is recommended to choose lighter colors that are close in tone to the colors of the setting sun. You should not be afraid of being overexcited by the brightness of colors, because the bedroom always has blackout curtains that will easily save the room from natural light.
By the way, window textiles in the bedroom should be chosen, paying attention to the color of the walls. When the curtains are closed during daylight hours, they act as light filters. To avoid unwanted effects, the color of the curtains should be close in warmth to the color of the walls. The exception is curtains made of dense fabrics such as blackout, which do not transmit light at all.
Bedroom paint
Paintable wallpapers are good not only because they hide the imperfections of building surfaces, but also because they can change the color at will. In the case of ordinary wallpaper, if necessary, to change the image of the room, they would have to be re-pasted.
And although this is not a very troublesome task, it is quite difficult to glue wallpaper in an already decorated room.
The fact is that the sheets would have to be adjusted to the cornices and skirting boards, which do not always form a perfectly even line. In addition, tearing off old wallpaper will certainly lead to dusting of the room. In order not to stain furniture and textiles, you need to either take everything out of the bedroom or cover it with foil. In general, changing the image by re-gluing the wallpaper will require some effort.
Wallpaper repainting is also not free, but still labor costs will be much less than when re-gluing. All that needs to be done is to walk twice with a paint roller on the walls, having previously set aside the furniture for half a meter. The price of the issue is also much lower, because even the best paint is cheaper than wallpaper.
It is best to paint special wallpapers with water-based interior paints.
They are absolutely environmentally friendly, which is important for a healthy atmosphere in the bedroom. Acrylic resins are the binder in such paints. But the base water emulsion is always white. Ready-made colored paints are sold very rarely. Colors are used to obtain the desired color.
To get a simple color, you just need to dissolve the contents of the color bottle in the paint until the desired tone is obtained. It should be noted that after drying, the tone of the paint turns out to be twenty percent less saturated. In order not to be mistaken, it is recommended to do a test painting of the cardboard and wait for the material to dry completely. If saturation is not enough, then add more color and perform test painting again. And so on, until the desired color is achieved.
It is much more difficult to obtain complex shades in which two, three, four or more colors are involved. The simple colors that come from one bottle of color are not impressive. It is impossible to achieve spectacular walls in the bedroom with the help of “one-component” colors.
Some stores provide a color matching service. It is best to use it and not fool yourself. But such shops are not everywhere. Most often, sellers simply sell paint and do not understand anything about tinting.
Unfortunately, obtaining complex shades, which is called “by eye”, is a task that artists can do. Color and spectrum are complex concepts that require detailed study. For the sake of a one-time action in the form of choosing paint for the bedroom, it’s probably not worth studying everything. You can try to get shades by mixing the so-called primary colors, using the color wheel model.
For example, green can be obtained by mixing blue and yellow, and orange by mixing red and yellow, brown is obtained by mixing red and green, all colors when mixed give black. If we add a third in a small amount to a mixture of two primary colors, we get a complex shade. Adding a cool color to a warm one will have a muted effect, while adding a warm color to a warm color will only change its “temperature” and brightness.
Color is nothing but a light wave of a certain frequency. When we mix different colors, we simply change this frequency. The same shade can theoretically be obtained by mixing different colors. The main thing is that the frequency matches the frequency of the wave. With computer selection, a special device reads the hue frequency, and then the program selects the proportion of only three colors: red, green and blue. The brightness of the color is regulated by white, but in the case of the selection of paint, white is our base, which we buy in the store.
