It took nearly two years of house-hunting and at least five aborted escrows, but Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have finally found true real estate love. And according to TMZ, which first reported this whopper of a deal, that love don’t cost a thing over $61 million, the amount the newlyweds paid — in cash, no less — for their gargantuan compound high up in the mountains above Beverly Hills, lording atop the Benedict Canyon neighborhood.
Still, you could call that number a blue-plate special. On and off the market for five years, the 5.2-acre property was last listed at $75 million, and had originally been offered at an incredible $135 million, when it was featured in Robb Report.
Built circa 2000 by a local developer, the mansard-roofed and vaguely neo-Palladian main house has an interesting ownership history. In 2002, it was sold for $11 million to Alex Yemenidjian, the former CEO of MGM Studios. Two years later, Yemenidjian flipped the giant house for $14 million to Curtis Somoza, a now-convicted Ponzi schemer currently serving a 25-year prison sentence. In 2007, the property sold again, this time for $16.8 million, to a Korean woman who made her fortune through owning nursing homes.
Over the next decade, the house waffled in and out of foreclosure and was routinely rented out for parties and to short-term tenants. In 2015, it was briefly occupied by a Saudi prince who was arrested over alleged sexual assaults he performed at the property.
In 2016, the place sold for $22 million to high-end house developer Gala Asher, who subsequently spent untold millions more giving the outdated mansion a crisply contemporary renovation. He also built a separate 5,000-square-foot sports complex complete with an indoor pickleball court, lounge area, gym and boxing ring, plus a two-bedroom guard house.
Other amenities include a 10-car garage and additional off-street parking for up to 80 more cars, a covered entertainment pavilion with a full outdoor kitchen, a 155-foot infinity pool, grassy lawns for play and no fewer than 24 bathrooms scattered around the premises. The property is located within a discreet gated community and further secured by its own huge driveway gates, so this compound is a true fortress.
A prolific Southern California developer, Asher is best known for building glitzy spec-mansions that have been purchased by celebrities and tycoons alike. Three years ago, he sold a spec-built Holmby Hills manor for $36 million to Kylie Jenner, and he also built Kris Jenner’s much-photographed house in La Quinta. In 2017, Asher sold billionaire Tom Gores a $100 million estate in Holmby Hills; earlier this year, he offloaded a $21 million La Quinta creation to Vivint founder Todd Pedersen. And in early 2015, he sold a particularly slick house across the street from the Beverly Hills hotel for $35 million to billionaire hedge fund mogul Steven Cohen.
Lopez, Affleck and their blended family are already set to move into their new home — Affleck sold his $28 million Pacific Palisades bachelor pad last year, and Lopez recently put her $42 million Bel Air estate up for sale.
Ginger Glass of Compass held the Beverly Hills listing; Brett Lawyer at Carolwood Estates repped the buyers.

Jennifer Lopez is Selling Her Bel Air House – DIRT
Love might not cost a thing, but this extravagant Los Angeles estate sure will set you back a pretty penny! As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, a sprawling Bel Air estate owned by multi-hyphenate entertainer Jennifer Lopez has just popped up for sale with a $42. 5 million asking price — or $14.5 million more than she paid actress Sela Ward for the place around seven years ago, back in spring 2016.
Originally designed by architect Samuel Marx, and built in 1940, the property has since been “re-imagined into a masterful one-of-a-kind multi-structure French Country refuge,” per the listing, which is held by Brett Lawyer of Carolwood Estates.
Hidden away behind a gated driveway, on an 8-acre parcel just minutes from the Bel Air Hotel, the creamy stucco and wood-accented structure has nine bedrooms and 13 baths in a speck over 12,800 square feet of living space that opens throughout to expansive terraces. Also on tap are plenty of snazzy amenities — a guest cottage, gym, 100-seat amphitheater, pagoda with fire-pit, putting green, an infinity-edge pool and spa, and private lake with its own sandy beach, just for starters.
Other standout features include a double-height living room boasting a fireplace, wet bar and curving wrought-iron staircase, plus a formal dining room, wood-paneled library, and gourmet kitchen sporting a stone fireplace and cozy breakfast nook. A spacious family/game room has yet another wet bar, while the lower-level holds a plush movie theater, and an upstairs master bedroom wing comes complete with a fireplace, library/sitting room, and dual dressing rooms and baths.
Lopez and her actor husband Ben Affleck — who sold his Palisades bachelor pad in October for $28.5 million — had planned to renovate and live in her Bel Air mansion after they were married six months ago, per TMZ, but they are now living in a Beverly Hills rental and once again on the hunt for a marital home. Between them, the pair also owns an 87-acre Georgia estate that’s currently on the market for $8.9 million, as well as a New York City penthouse, mansion in the Hamptons and a petite cottage in L.A.’s Encino neighborhood.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have bought a house in Beverly Hills after nearly a year of searching for the perfect home. TMZ writes about it.
According to the newspaper, the couple paid $60.85 million in cash for a 4.3 thousand sq.m. mansion. The deal took one week to complete. For the house, the couple paid almost $15 million less than the asking price of $75 million.
The house was first put up for sale in 2018 for $135 million, but this year the price was almost halved.
Known as “Wallingford Manor”, the home is located on a 2 hectare promontory and boasts 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms. The advertisement for the sale stated that the mansion was “recently rebuilt and expanded.”
The house has an indoor sports complex with a gym, a basketball court and a boxing ring, a 465 m2 guest penthouse, a caretaker’s house and a swimming pool overlooking the surroundings.
Additional facilities at the mansion include a hair and nail salon, a home cinema, a wine cellar, as well as a sauna and massage rooms.
Lopez and Affleck have already moved a lot of furniture to the new house.
Earlier Gazeta.Ru told that Jennifer Lopez wore a bikini to advertise her own brand of cocktails.
